I'm more of a witchy read kind of gal with romance being in the background, but I was in a reading slumps for a WHILE (2 years) and everything I tried to read was just me zoning out for an hour before giving up. I decided to go out of my comfort genre, and was delighted with how fast I flew through this book and I did love it, 4.5/5 for me and I sobbed and just giggled at the dumb parts that I adored. Anywho, I'm just glad you didn't hate it.
I will say - as someone with glasses. If I don’t know a person well if I don’t have them on my vision is bad enough I wouldn’t necessarily recognize them later. Obviously with them being coworkers and likely knowing of each other it’s not entirely plausible she would have no idea. But my vision is bad enough without corrective lenses that I definitely can’t see people clearly without them unless they’re like in my face
@@ashleyslittlelibrary also, I love these vlogs! I love different opinions on popular books. I haven’t read this yet but honestly after watching your entire review I think it might be one I like! But it’s definitely fun for me to me to see a range of reactions to the popular books.
I have not read the book myself so I am not sure how it actually played out or if her eye sight was talked about through the book. But if she was wearing contacts, there is a natural assumption she needs them in order to see properly. And depending on how weak her eyesight is, if she was not wearing them at all it would most definitely be realistic that she wouldn't see him. Like without my glasses, I can see people's shapes at a distance, up close I can see them with an edge of blurriness. And if I have * just* taken them off, it takes me longer to adjust so things are more blurry. Also, if she was having contact issues, that may have been that the lenses were irritating her eyes and if so, that could affect her eye sight even more so. But I don't know how accurate it is for her to be having troubles, unless she put them in wrong or was struggling in someway to put them on. Contact lenses scare me, personally. If she is good of hearing and they knew/ talked with each other enough, why didn't she recognize his voice though?
Thanks for the context! Another person who uses glasses/contacts commented about this as well and I’m realizing I was being ignorant to assume that was unrealistic when I have no experience with eye sight issues. As for the hearing and recognizing his voice, there is quite a gap of time between that interaction and the fake dating starting (I think about 2 years?) so it was supposed to be like an “oh how would she remember this dude from one minor interaction years ago”. But with how “powerful” that moment was for her, apparently it wasn’t so minor so idk the whole thing is just a mess you have to look past in order to enjoy the story 😂
I just finished this book so I came back to your video, for me it was a 1.5 ⭐️ to quote the own author in the book when Anh says to Olive: “This is a Hallmark movie. Or a poorly written young adult novel. That will not sell well.” Super cringing, full of cliches and overhyped 🤷🏻♀️💔
Still trying to decide if this is something I might like. Maybe I’ll wait until valentine season. I feel the pressure too! But I haven’t really been craving romance lately. Lovely video, as always. 💛
Definitely would recommend waiting until you’re feeling it because this one requires some buy in and suspension of disbelief to be enjoyable 😂 and thank you! 💕
I was also expecting more about this book because of how people reacted to it, but it actually doesn't have anything mind-blowing. Despite of that I really really really liked Adam and had a very fun time reading it, there was never a single thing that bored me about this book, it is really cool. I will give it a 4.5 stars just bc, as you said, the ending was pretty fast and I did felt like I was left hanging from a lot of things. Despite of all, I had a FANTASTIC time reading it, I will totally read it again any time soon! Btw I love how you express yourself and this video is amazing.
I’m not the best person to ask, I never have any idea what age is appropriate for books haha. There’s only 1 steamy scene but it’s like 10 pages long and “R-rated” so maybe 16/17+ if I had to guess
Totally agree with all of the stuff you pointed out about this one! I think I rated it 5 stars but after sitting with it for a while I think it’s realistically more of a 4 star for me? I don’t know. What are ratings really? Lol
I listened to all your spoilers because there's no way I'm reading this one! Cannot handle another overhyped mediocre romance 2021 release this year 😁 (already gave plenty of 2 and 3 stars 🙄)
Red TV!! ❤

AHHHHH I have a question what age rating would you give this book?

Greetings from Dublin! Best 5 star fake dating book for me,”take a hint, dani brown”,….
I gave it 1 ⭐️. OMG I have no clue why so many people like this one. It was…bad 🥴
