Well my ants are nothing special. Probably equivalent to one long yagi!! I have always wanted to rebuild that array to something larger but it's the amount of activity I figure its good enough.. I dont really contest as you know.. So it's fun getting it all fired up once in a while.. Skip
Cool old setup. I still have a similar Plumbers Special 2x 4cx250 on 2m and a K2RIW on 70cm. But retired those against bigger tube's. But I am surprised you run the 4cx250b with 2900V. That's probably the reason you get 1kw out, as my are around 600W with 2000V. 73 de DF5HC Jens
Hello Jens, well that 2900 VDC for the plate on the 4cx250 is with no load.. When the tubes are cut in it drops to about 2400 volts.. Still lots though.. Yes it puts out alright! The K2RIW 432 isnt as good of course and it lacks power for EME.. The plan is for a new amp with a single tube, just havent got that built yet.. To much to do, so little time ha ha.. Skip
If I could conjure up 1 thing from the genies bottle it would be able to build the stuff skip dose iv no shortage of ideas it's the lack of knowledge and skills that gets in the way
I lived in Calgary from 1990-1996. I never heard anyone on 6 or 2m locally. I would call CQ, but never any takers. 6 was good back then, long haul stuff into Asia, and the South Pacific.
I know what you mean.. There was a good group before that and we got on every Sunday but then it dropped off.. Tino in Calgary got the ball rolling again a few years back and it's gotten active again, but mostly on Sundays.. So it's sort of busy ha ha.. Skip
