  • If you like this video, I've created a new live poker training video series, available for rental or purchase at www.readingpoke....
    I'm Zachary Elwood, the author of two well-reviewed books on poker tells and psychology: Reading Poker Tells (2012) and Verbal Poker Tells (2014). You can buy the paperbacks on Amazon or buy the ebook versions on my site www.readingpoke....
    Bill Perkins is a successful businessman and movie producer. He is also an amateur poker player who appeared on several episodes of High Stakes Poker and Poker Stars' The Big Game. This video gives an analysis of one aspect of his poker behavior: his tendency to talk with and interact with opponents when he was holding a weak or vulnerable hand.

    As a professional actor and poker player i always had fun giving the direct opposite tells in every given situation.

    After each example I find myself kind of wanting to know how the hand ended up going.

      Yeah I hear ya. I had to decide to not do this with all my videos just because they'd all go on a very long time. And mainly because the result isn't really relevant to the thing being discussed. But yeah I hear you about the curiosity.

    The best way to improve your poker game? Combine getting coaching with being a poker dealer. As a dealer, you can practice your hand reading abilities while getting paid.

    This might work very effectively at daily nightly cheaper buy in tournaments at local casino . Very few at that level bother studying opponents mannerisms but then again there are the chosen few that might pick up on your movements without you even knowing it. I wish i had more perkins at my table cause when they show down once i got em

    Great video. Good tips. The bad part is that you're assuming the player KNOWS what a good hand is. I've found sometimes tells can be unreliable against weaker players because these donkeys just don't know when to fold. They look down at their hold cards and see unsuited 7/2 and think: "I like deuces!!" - and then they give off tells and body language for a 'strong hand.'

      +john smith Yeah, for sure. Below a certain level of experience, they have no clue what they have, so it's of course hard to get reads on players that inexperienced. I've been there, believe me!

      I really enjoy your videos but I think too many players are watching them and adjusting their moves -- LOL!! Tricky bastards. I had a guy stand up with a bluff the other night. Jerk. He was doing a reverse tell. I guess I should feel honored in a way. At least he gave me enough credit to recognize the tell.

    Disclaimer. In the contrary. There are players who talk more when they have it. i.e. Luke Schwartz, Jamie gold.

    • @ReadingPokerTells
      @ReadingPokerTells  9 років тому +3

      +IQspn Yes, I think I note that it varies a lot. Mainly the point is that some players will have tendencies one way or another.

      +ReadingPokerTells these aren't guides to take into casinos and copy...but for you to pay attention to each player, when they start to talk, pay attention to what they flip over on the river (if you get the chance to see it) then place them in a category after a few times

    Honestly, I think the reasoning behind why he has these tells is incorrect. I don't think he talks more when weak because of nervousness or anything. I think he talks more because he wants to be Negreanu. He's usually playing "small ball" type hands when he does this, and is trying, very poorly to get information. Conversely, he truly doesn't care what the other players have when he's strong. Not good habits in any case, but I suspect that's more the way he's thinking.

      Yeah I hear you. I had to make decision to not include results in all these hands because otherwise they'd all be very long. My private video series would be like 10 hours instead of the 5 hours it is. And main reason is just that the result isn't really relevant to the thing being discussed. But I hear you on the curiosity.

    FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS SON OF GOD JESUS CHRIST, WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE IN HEAVEN FOREVER AND EVER. JOHN 3:16 BIBLE....... THE RAINBOW THRONE OF SON OF GOD JESUS CHRIST AND THE TREE OF LIFE, Revelations 4 and Revelations 22 Bible. 1After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”
    2Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. 4Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. 5And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
    6Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. 7The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:......
    “Holy, holy, holy,.....
    Lord God Almighty,
    Who was and is and is to come!”
    9Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
    11“You are worthy, O Lord,
    To receive glory and honor and power;
    For You created all things,
    And by Your will they exist and were created..
