It's an amazing performance, I hope you enjoyed it as Hobi really killed it, his verse is my favorite!!! They were all great of course but I feel like he stole the show there with his visuals, attitude and rap performance.

Yes I was also going to suggest that for some songs and this is one of those in particular I find the DKDKTV explanation very helpful as there are so many cultural references as well. I would happily watch a reaction to it as well but otherwise I think you would find it helpful to at least watch it on your own if you don't want to make a video of it.

@@davimoraes3731 exactly! before becoming an army, i didnt like rap at all and after becoming an army too, i kept on sleeping on rapline songs for a lot of time thinking that i dont like rap, when finally i gave a try, i understood that its not rap which i dislike, its the sexist, misogynist, ill mindset, foolish cursing, and being all so "cool" about parties, drugs, girls yeahhhh, this is what i actually disliked!! coz of the same typical rap songs! but after getting into bts, i found myself wholeheartedly vibing to rap songs
I think a lot of people who aren’t into rap before bts ends up liking it cuz of BTS like for me I only listen BTS rap.

Umm no. It's not even accurate.
Whenever someone reacts to “Ugh” I make it a point to point out this line (by J-hope):
“Someone’s anger costs someone else’s life”
When this song came out a few extremely popular kpop idols had just committed suicide as a result of being harassed by hate comments (most notably Sulli, previously of f(x))
Sulli started as a child actress at 12 then debuted as an idol for many years. Ever since her youth she’s been receiving malicious and unjustified hate and harassment online. To the point where everyone in the industry knew how bad she had it but, couldn’t really do anything abt it. When she left f(x) and started living her own life, doing what she pleased, the harassment only got worse.
She’s spoken before abt how all that hate affected her in interviews and unfortunately it all became too much for her and she took her life. Thankfully, one positive from the situation was that because it was so well-known why Sulli took her life, new laws were being pushed to further protect ppl from cyber bullying in Korea (the Sulli Act).
I think most are unaware but SK has one of the highest rates of bullying compared to any other country, and they have a very prevalent and toxic bullying culture (usually targeting wealth disparity aka bullying the poor kid at school, instant harassment towards anyone regarding pro-feminist thoughts, and of course mindless and senseless maliciousness that many public figures like idols face).
Anyways, I say all that to say that I really loved that Hobi included that line bc Sulli’s death was so impactful to the Kpop community (and to me personally). It’s so sad that we all knew what pushed her to that point yet we couldn’t really do anything to stop it.

They performed UGH! Live in one of their online concerts and it was so good! We even got a dance break from the rap line! As other have said there is a UA-cam channel DKDKTV that explains there twists on the lyrics that really take you deeper into the meanings. BTS is amazing at their double meanings and word play.
My favorite rapline song! I loved your reaction and comments. Not only do they get angry at the blown-out-of-proportion anger and the anger that causes hurt, but they remind us not to waste 'righteous' (in no way meant to connote a religious meaning) anger and use it for worthy causes!

nono i LOVED your reaction and im so grateful you kept on checking in with doolset. It didnt seem all over the place to me. On the contrary id like it if u could do this more often if you want to. This is one of my favs too. God i love the tenor of their voices here how they manage to change their tones to fit at that part. I especially loved how hoseok came in too, like all the extra beats just calming(?) for a bit to put more emphasis on what he had to say and what a killer verse. My favorite line was the same as yours too. come to think of it we have many similar tastes lol. Now, you definitely HAVE to watch the live performance for UGH. Okay so next to watch would be the dkdktv explanation video for ugh as well as the live performance of ugh
this song is somewhat connected to iu and sugas song eight its not directly but armys found a connection due to the meanings of the songs
ugh was released feb 2020 with map of the soul 7 album and eight was released may 2020 a few months later.
it made sense why iu had yoongi on the collab not just because of his talent but because of bts history their openness with mental health and iu's history.

it goes even deeper with more context than doolset had which is rare because doolset has everything usually.

I agree with you. I took poem structural analysis as my thesis long time ago in univ, so I really love lyric with a bit of twist and Bangtan is specially GOOOOOD with it. That''s why I read somewhere that some of their lyric are hard to be translated. Thanks that ARMY get many great translators. SHOUT OUT TO ALL OF THEM. Personally UGH is the smartest lyric in rap line among others. It looks simple but it's NOT...the layers of each words or sounds it carries are genius. It has the same vibe as Ddaeng. The early works of Rap line are raw and it really pierces u directly in the heart just like knife. This time, if you are DUMB ANTIS, you won't understand it that they were saying things. It's so smooth and soft. Instead of yelling and cursing blatantly, this time you won't know it unless you study it deeply. GENIUS. SO GENIUS.
I've always respected all I-Lovelies since u guys always try really hard to understand all these things behind language and cultural barriers just for bts. I do think that we don't always need language to appreciate the song, we only need our hearts, but still it is true that language plays a role in music.
But you guys never tells them to change but always tries to understand them, I really love those parts of I-Lovelies as a K-Army, but also as a Korean. Thank you for trying to understand and appreciate our culture and language.

Really loved watching you enjoy this and breaking it down. I just love how they take something ugly and make it art/creative. I adore Shakespeare (it’s my thing) and I love the correlation to rap. In particular BTS’ rap. BTS are so poetic, iambic and the sounds, it’s just amazing. There was a video I watched about their different styles of singing/rapping OT7 and I loved how they said Hobi uses his voice like an instrument formed form dancing. Just so cool.
