I was 20 in 2021, (I’m 21 now) when I discovered this song. I was blown away by how modern and relatable it was still 50+ years later. I’d grown so tired of modern music, finding Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were 2 of the best things to come out of 2021 for me and I’ve only grown to love the music of the 70’s more and more ever since
I remember when I found it when I was 12 in late 2019. My mind was absolutely blown upon first hearing it, similar to how The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix had about a year prior. I didn’t know music could be so upfront, personal and envoke emotions. Most of what I knew was just upbeat poppy stuff from the radio, but when I got into rock music, I realised just how awesome music was.
I've been listening to rock for a while but only from my country, and I started listening to classic rock and metal only a month ago. I feel the same way, since I've listened to reggaeton and pop all my life and nothing made me feel so many emotions like rock and metal has :P
I grew up listening to nirvana the Beatles, queen, and all classical rock and just 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s music. Great to see you found this kind of music it’s definitely 10x better than todays music
This is not really hard rock... this album as seen as THE defining metal album, the first real successful one anyway as their first album (released the same damn year) was the first ever true metal album
Black Sabbath had created this song for the need to simply fill the time remaining that they had on the album. Also they created and recorded it within 3 days as something of an after thought. It is now one of the largest metal songs in history.
I was born in 79. All I know is that metalheads throughout the 80's n 90's still listened to black Sabbath..hell I seen Ozzy twice in concert..once with geezer on bass..they done a flashback n played Sabbath for an hour

This song was a filler song that was written in less then an hour by Tony Iommi. He wrote this while the song engineers (during this album recording) were on their lunch break. True story.
Amazing! Rock N Roll Ain't Noise Pollution by AC/DC was also a filler that was written because Atlantic Records wanted 10 songs in Back In Black. This filler was released as a single then reached top 15, the highest of any other song in that monster of an album. I'll let the late and great Malcom Young Explain: “We were in London at the time and there were all those problems with the old Marquee Club because it was in a built-up area and there was this whole thing about noise pollution in the news, the environmental health thing that you couldn’t have your stereo up loud after 11 at night, it all came from that.” Additionally, not really a filler but speaking on the terms of writing songs quickly; Freddie Mercury wrote "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" while he was in the shower! Great minds, great songs.
@Marshall Bates Dude Ozzy rocks but he is neither a great dad nor husband. He was drunk and out of it for most of his kids’ childhoods, so Sharon basically raised them by herself. Also, he lost his mind and physically attacked Sharon one time when he was particularly wasted. Woke up in jail the next day on assault charges, not remembering any of it.
