One edit I'd offer, in the first combo, you can use phoenix first, as it only buffs the next weaponskill, so you can use it, then thunderclap, stun, enlighten. This way you dont need to weave phoenix in.
Monk is super cool in PVP, I feel like I'm still contributing something even if I'm bad at it. At the start of the video, so I'm hopeful I can get good!
The discussion of 1v1 a dancer really shows why it's so dangerous to get a monk and dancer on the opposing team if they know what they're doing. Stupidly mobile and can hound people down...
I really struggled to get enlightenment to knock the enemy in the correct direction. Because everyone constantly seems to be changing position, it seems like by the time enlightenment has gone off, it’s shooting them back in the direction of their team/spawn. Any tips here?
stun will always make it easier, but the easiest way i found is to dash your target and then run past them so your behind before you go for the stun knockback
yeah ive been doing some testing, try to run like 5 or 6 feet away from them before you do it, you can be alot farther than you think. Ever since i started making more space, they have been going exactly where i want, granted i stunned them so they cant move or they dont try to get out of the way of course.
can you help me with something? I just started with monk in pvp, and im not sure i understand the LB, it says if they have NO guard then I should do 24000 potency, but everytime i use it, i only get the 12k. On paper, you should be able to do around 60k for a combo with the LB, which is too much, but I dont understand why the numbers dont add up
@@salamanderYT yeah possibly, it's hard to tell because they can use recuperate in battle, and the enlightenment debuff doesn't work on dummies cuz they can't be knocked back, it's all good though, I still climbed from no rank to gold 1 in just 2 days with warrior and then monk after watching your vids, great stuff, you deserve a lot more subs! Keep it up!
Right now aside from Samurai MNK is pretty even with the other melee rolls for 1v1 Monk is much better at giving chase, surviving, with a fast building limit break combo amazing for shutting players down, also your knock back is amazing against select jobs, Gun breaker, Sage, Reaper, Dark knight basically any roll that suffers from being knocked back. In many off the 1v1's with Dragoon, Reaper, Ninja and other Monks it can often come down to who is the most stubborn or who makes a mistake first, but for tanks and any ranged roll you can make there game hell.
@@Sinminator Yes so Monks dashing to targets gives you shielding and you get 3 charges so you can give chase and sustain the longest out off the melee with the exception off Ninjas your burst is rotation is one off the most successful at landing a kill its only if you make a lot of mistake does your 1v1 potential drop overall a solid job that wont steer you wrong.
@@Sinminator Dragoons easy to survive against, there burst is ready right away as soon as they back flip so you wait for that moment to make your play, or defence plus they have no stun so if you outlast that burst they have downtime. Ninja's burst is great but depends if you are forced to pick your double stun over another ability, Reapers given the time to build up can seem like they one shot you with there burst. Whereas Monks have kind of have a surprise burst you play slow with sustain and earths reply till your Phantom rush is ready, hit them with phoenix into into phantom rush for a bonus 50% damage into six side star to stun, followed by your second phoenix into enlightenment knock back, plus if you use limit break right after the knock back takes place you do bonus damage which almost no job can survive that combo, whereas dragoons limit break is awful to 1v1 and ninjas is wasted if they strike you above 50%, Monks limit break was designed as there burst combo so you can go in burn down a target securing that 5v4 advantage.
I don't know why i do no dmg, you look like you are oneshotting them...instead i fight with them for hours and they don't die...or i get oneshotted trying to fight
I treat every fight as if the server tic rate would become a issue a lot of actions can be happening but you wont see it right away, It just comes down to choosing the right moment to hit them so hard so fast there is not much they could do
The second the rainbow colored box with the gameplay showed up, my brain shut off and anything you said was not infact, commited to memory, perhaps let's not put that box up again on a screen that's already so bombastic and full of effects?
These guides are so detailed. This is what the ff pvp community needs. Ty.
Thanks greatly glad you enjoyied :D
How convenient that you make a recent MNK guide for crystal conflict the very day I need it. Thank you
Perfectly timed
Very good video, i just picked up MNK in CC and i was lost because i main MCH which is the complete opposite in gameplay, appreciate it!
Yeah it is switching from range to melee that first time muscle memory gets ya some times XD

These guides are great. I always use them if i want to try a new job in PVP or need a refresher on one i have not played for a bit.
Happy they can help :D
Not going to lie when he said red meat I just imagined him as a big fellow in a Mc Donald's drive through ordering several burgers a day

You got this as long as you dont blindly dive in or isolate yourself you will improve in not time

Try to give go a little further around them and give some range to aim the kb.

I think it is just a visual issue cause when you test it in duels it does work

is MNK basically one of if not the best 1v1 class?

@@salamanderYT so Melee DPS are just all equally good at 1v1? Thought MNK stands out on a 1v1

@@salamanderYT tyty. But arent other jobs like NIN or Dragoon with high burst have more success in landing a kill? Or i guess PVP scales differently
