How big is the camera? Would have been nice to see those undersides with a better lighting as some of us have never taken a dash board out or plugged in a cables, specially into things where we cant see but just feel. Thanks for the video non the less
Point well taken, it would have been extremely difficult to fit a person and the camera under the dash at the same time. There's very close quarters under there! www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brake-Controller/Redarc/RED24FR.html
So why didnt you mention the mount from redarc does not fit the stock hole for the mount. The stock plug is around 15/16 and the plug from redarc is 1 1/8
The installer just used double sided tape in this installation to mount the control module. You can use tape and zip ties if that make you feel a bit more secure. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brake-Controller/Redarc/RED24FR.html
Yes, that typically means that your vehicle has the tow package. Also, I do believe you are correct in saying all 5th gen Toyota 4Runners come from the factory with the tow package. You would just need the following parts if you have a 2014-2022 4Runner: www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Redarc/RED49FR.html www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brake-Controller/Redarc/RED24FR.html
this might be a dumb question, how does this connect to the trailer? i have a 2016 trd 4 runner and getting a 2014 13” scamp. i’m thinking i need to buy this, but do i also need to buy an axel or something to connect this to trailer? kind of confused!
Your 2016 Toyota 4Runner should have come with a factory hitch to connect your trailer to. You will need a ball mount, wiring and a brake controller if your trailer has brakes on it. www.etrailer.com/t1-2016_Toyota_4Runner.htm www.etrailer.com/bc-2016_Toyota_4Runner.htm www.etrailer.com/Ball-Mount
Great video! Installation was quick and easy.
Thank you for the feedback! This installation isn't too bad at all. We are happy to hear you were able to get yours installed.

Did you zip ties the main hub or double tape is enough? If zip ties, how did you do it?

If I have a hitch and the electric connector beside it, does that mean I have the tow package? I thought all 5th Gen have the tow package standard

is the cable just a CAT5e cable?
Yes, per Redarc, it is the same type of cable.
