We have a 1/2 ton RAM and its payload capacity is 1181...we looked at a Reflection a year ago and knew if we went with that we would have to get a bigger truck...most 5th wheels are NOT 1/2 ton towable...I think maybe Tradesman models could but who buys them? They are work trucks...There are not enough regulations in the RV industry and not enough people doing their homework, including salespeople...they should not be allowed to mislead people like that, not when that negligence could harm others.
I agree with you 100 percent. I would never tow with a half ton. The difference between the suspension and brakes on a 3/4 - 1 ton and a half ton is night and day different. When we started looking for campers and the salesman said I could tow the 40 foot fifth wheel in the showroom with my F250 if it was diesel I knew for sure I needed to do my own research.
@@maxcorder2211 - Most half tons max at about 1500-2000 pounds cargo/bed/hitch weight. The trailer + 5W hitch base + people + whatever else in there like tools, gas etc., and you are well over your GVWR.
These dealerships & salesman should be held accountable for misleading mostly newbie buyers in believing the can tow this units with a half ton, that goes for the manufacturers also, please do your homework before buying!!! Remember for the dealerships it’s all about the mighty dollar!!! Kinda sad, BTW.. I own a grand design, highly disappointed they preach these half ton fifth wheels
It is not the dealership responsibility to educate you about your vehicle. Anyone who is towing anything should know the numbers and limits of their truck. Stop shifting blame you woke lefty!!!
Overall very nice layout and appreciate the sub 7200lb dry weight. Nice to find firth wheel with no bedroom slide, allows for great cross ventilation while dry camping, less weight, less potential slide issues, not to mention less manufacturer build expense. Big consideration is bathroom & sleeping area accessible in travel mode?? Very important as we typically overnight in areas not conducive to slide deployment.
You are right about bedroom and toilet access in travel mode however, I do like the slideouts! If maintained/serviced properly they have little issues and greatly increase comfort on longer stay.
Great video Dominic. You should have shown that you're able to squeeze by to access bedroom and bathroom when the slide is in 😏. It's a great sell wing point.
Sorry--can't access bathroom/bed with slide out in. We had GD w bunk beds and our biggest complaint was this--and could not access the fridge either. Our 1st 5th wheel was a Terry Quantum (old and used) but it was the best layout I've ever seen.
Nice unit with all the Options however, however layout not good for travel road access with slide closed. Cannot access bathroom and bedroom with slide in.
If your going to tow this with a half ton truck you have to make sure your truck has the heavy duty tow package or your asking for trouble. This guy never gave us the numbers you need to know! UVW, GVWR, PIN WEIGHT!
Current F-150 payload numbers: 1,310 to 2,238 lbs - so it’s safe to say that with cargo, MOST half ton models should not be towing this! Edit: this guy is talking about towing behind that “half-ton” unit as well? Don’t listen to this dude.
This thing might be able to be towed by a 1/2 ton . Doesn't mean it should be done . Most people don't have extreme package trucks . And as someone else mentioned you will have cargo , passengers , holding tanks etc . Towing safely well within control especially stopping in a hurry , if need be , is way more important !
Please do not say “tons of counter space” loads of large storage,..Get out a measuring tape and measure the area!! What you might consider large, tons, big, may NOT be to others..Thanks Happy Trails!!
My goodness all you complainers, do your due diligence. Its not company or salesman responsibility to educate you in regards to the limits of your truck. Know your numbers and it never becomes a problem for you. There are plenty of 1/2 ton trucks that will pull this trailer and their are some that can not. Please learn the towing capacity of your truck and stop complaining in the comments.
Most half ton trucks cannot tow this vehicle because the payload will be way to much with even a modest load. All of these manufacturers and dealers are going to wind up in trouble selling these to a person and saying it's half ton towable. I had a sales guy at a dealership last week tell an older gentleman that all of the "half ton" series KZ 5th wheels were easily towed with his F150. Lawyers tend to go after everyone involved in putting a vehicle on the road and a good one will be looking at dealers.
For sure. If you are in an accident and you are over your max limits your insurance may not cover you, your truck warranty may not cover you and you will likely be sued by everyone involved. Are you feeling lucky? The problem is virtually all trucks parked in suburban driveways are half-ton 4 door crew cabs with all the options and short beds to fit into garages. Nobody buys a 3/4 or 1 ton to drive to the grocery store or work in an office. So, when they show up at the RV dealer, the only thing he can legitimately sell them is a fairly small travel trailer. So as not to limit their customers, they started slapping "Half-Ton" labels on everything. I know this from personal experience before I did my research. I had put down a deposit on a 5th wheel. I have a half-ton GMC truck. When I put the numbers into a spreadsheet I made, there was no way it would work. Took me months to cancel the deal and get my deposit back. The salesman kept insisting that my truck would "pull it down the road". BS
Do not use a 1/2 ton to pull this people. Get a 3/4 gasser or diesel. 1/2 ton is pushing the payload to the max before the camper and people are loadrd up
The only way you can tow a fifth wheel with a half ton truck it would have to have the heavy duty payload package on it we and according to Chevy Dodge and Ford 99.9 per cent of half ton trucks on the road do not have
I don't understand why every single one of these RV designers think that the TV has to be on the f****** ceiling?! I don't know about the rest of you but when I watch TV that TV is chest height . My living room entertainment center doesn't have it clear up at head level it is at chest level so that when I sit down on my couch it is directly in front of my eyeballs. Every single one of these R v's eye look at things the TV has to be positioned so I have to Crane my neck backward sitting in their chair couch thing and look straight up that has got to be the most uncomfortable position to watch a movie and I've ever Conceived.

1190 hitch weight. That’s really light.
@@andrewrichardson9883 A diesel has less payload than a gas engine due to the added weight of engine.

I believe thee is one Ford and one Ram ½ ton that can… but the bed weight alone puts it so close to capacity it’s Darwin’s Theory in action. 😊
Love this trailer it checks all the boxes for a couple's trailer. We ended up purchasing the 2023 model that comes with ABS brakes.
What is the major difference between the 150 and 100 series? Is the frame lighter or smaller? No ABS but is it an option?
great video! Could a washer/dryer go in the bedroom closet?
Thanks! There is no washer dryer prep in this series of fifth wheel but with some customization a professional could make a combo unit fit.
Enjoyed your walk through. For me, I'm not crazy about the schwintec slideout or the limited travel access when the slide is closed.

I have a 12 foot garage door opening and need to find out if this camper will fit.
Precise and fast. Great tour!

Are on demand water heaters getting into the RV industry soon? Seems like perfect sense.
I have a second question what’s MRSP on this camper?
Is it prepped for a second A/C in the bedroom
Hi Randall, yes it is prepped and you can option in a second AC from factory if you like. Thanks for watching :)
Not a pocket door it's a barn door.
Not sure I'd be tall enough to reach the fan controls above the kitchen😉I like the layout though.
You and me both! We sell a lot of folding step stools for FW clients ;) - thanks for commenting!

Rv will be towing the dang truck if people listen to this salesman. Imagine wind or rv overtaking a lightweight tow vehicle smh.

1190 pin weight is not bad for half ton fifth wheel, my ram 1500 classic
has 1400 payload could work if no water in it
And no passengers or gear in the cab.
Anyone who tows a 5th wheel with a half ton is a complete moron.

Very misleading to call this a 22 foot trailer.
Totally agree, but the industry widely does it. Wish they would call it by total length and could add living space separate if desired.
