  • “The story of Live Aid is that tens of thousands of people were saved and it was an extraordinary, unique, and amazingly positive thing that happened. In a way, it was humanity at its finest”
Mick Brown, a writer for The Telegraph Magazine, attended the Live Aid concert of 1985 as a reporter. Masterminded by Bob Geldof, the concert went on to become one of the most monumental stage shows in history and raised over £150 million for famine relief.
In this video, Mick Brown gives a first-hand account of the extraordinary concert - Queen’s famous Bohemian Rhapsody performance; The Beach Boys’ Good Vibrations; Bono’s slow dance with a fan; and the hard-hitting reminder from David Bowie that the performance was in aid of the starving in Ethiopia.
This is the fifth episode in a video and podcast series featuring the stories of Telegraph journalists who witnessed history.
