    I call Big Dwight the game changer. When he does things, it changes the game. Being a long time sub, I've watched him do this a number of times. The planter, now the combine,he changes the game. Ryan has started to follow the trend. The JBC,the truck, the mulcher, are changing the game. These guys are awesome and good for UA-cam. Thanks.

    Hey Ryan, your videos are inspiring and great to watch. I'm 29 and I come from (and still operate) a medium sized farm in New Jersey. Watching you work with your family and the achievements you accomplish get me wishing to have a better relationship with my own family. I had the same problem with the brakes on our old jd 9500 combine. Had to adjust the brakes all the way out. Long story short, wound up putting a new transmission in that machine because it went kaput going down the road (and in New Jersey there are no good places to break down on the road), only to later realize in the field that the jd mechanic adjusted the brakes too tight. Also, I had the same issue on our bean head with the cutter bar and the arm of the wobble box. Ended up putting lock nuts on the bolts for good. Getting that cutter bar to lay just right is a bit of an exercise in patience. Anyway, I know this is a longer comment, but your videos are the most authentic I've seen, so I had to say something!

    That morning coffee being delivered is real important! LOL It reminded me of 50 years ago, open air tractors haying on hot and dusty days working long hours. In the afternoon ice tea, sandwiches and a cold bowl of fruit would arrive, almost like a picnic in the hay field. It was almost like being rejuvenated to late morning. Man I miss that.

    not sure about there and the bushels the combine holds when full but here when i was working on the farm the combine held aprox 300 to 325 and we would put 2 full dumps on the front hopper and then put 1 full dump on the back hopper and that would be pretty close to ok depending on test weight of the grain i had times where there was ben busting crop and do this and would be over weight a good bit but here in my state IN we are given a 10% over the 80,000 hope you find this helpful

    The harvest beard! Also can be known as the stress beard.
    Typical to have some more bugs to work out over the harvest since just buying it last year. One of those things if thinking about it is start the machines up one or two times in the offseason and move it a little bit to hopefully keep the brakes unseized among everything else keeping lubed. What auto settings does that model have like Header height, reel speed?

    • @HowFarmsWork

    Why the auger head instead of a draper head on the combine? Is it a cost thing, or a productivity issue? Others I've watched with the draper heads seem like they are having all kinds of issues with the draper heads? Also does it help or increase loss from bean shell shatter?

    • @christopherschneider3323
      @christopherschneider3323 2 роки тому

      While I don’t know their specific operation or reason, drapers are much more expensive and require more maintenance since they have way more moving parts. But yes the shelling out loss is definitely better and from a manufacturer standpoint, just kinda depends on what they want to work with.

    Could you explain basis to a novice? I understand about loading the barges less than normal due to low water south of St.Louis, but how does the basis affect the dollars you receive for your beans and where online is a good place to check commodity cash prices? Thanks.

      First I have heard of basis as well.

    • @whjerts
      @whjerts 2 роки тому

      Basis is the difference between the cash price you receive and the price at the Chicago board of trade. A positive basis means you are getting more than the price at the board of trade. Negative basis and you’re getting less than board of trade.
      Futures Basis Cash price
      $6.50 -.50 $6.00

    Not a farmer. However, I think the federal government should stay out of the business of mandating emissions for farm equipment. If the government wants to mandate emissions for highway vehicles in urban areas, late them mandate. EGR has no business on the engine of farm equipment, it hurts engine efficiency and longevity.
