Thanks, Bartek, for the Bandcamp buyout breakdown! I think I share your passion for music and the creation process. I was looking for options and more information on the state of the distribution industry. I am late in life looking at finally distributing my song ideas old and new. I have listened to at least one of your UA-cam song videos (Find Your Thing). Good demo.
Good point and thank you for your comment. I haven't felt a massive impact personally but I haven't been releasing anything new of late either. I think it's time to investigate and make an update video.
@@bartekpiwonskiofficial - yeah, I'd be really curious to hear if there have been any negative side effects of the sale of the site. I am thinking very seriously about putting my band up there. And I'm also thinking about a side hussle as a record label. So any insights you might have, please share. Subscribing.
@strathound Awesome! Thank you for the sub. :) I shall look into it and make another video soon. When it comes to a record label, I can do some videos on that subject as well. Just out of interest, are you thinking about releasing just your band or other artists as well?
@@bartekpiwonskiofficial - well, there are layers to it. I'd like to release our album on an independent label. I am fronting all the money for this. So why not? Once we've put our art out there, I'm thinking I could help other local musicians. I know a bunch of musicians who have self released some music. But it's not getting any traction. Maybe I could help them too?
@@strathound It sounds like a good idea for sure. It's interesting that you are fronting the money. Are the other band members not contributing? By the way, what is your band called?
while this may not be useful to many, I found it very informative, but sad that Bandcamp, someone I've been a fan of since the beginig and more recently as an artist - support take weeks to get back to you - and will change for better or worse.
Thank you for your comment. 🙂 That doesn't sound good... It's pretty sad really. It looks like those cuts are having a direct impact on the customer service offer...
Yes, I would. I think it's fine for now. The platform seems to be working with no changes so far. It's important to monitor the situation though and respond if and when any changes are proposed or implemented. Of course you need to decide for yourself. Personally I am still going to be adding new songs to Bandcamp. At least for now.
I now offer music consultancy service. Details in this video: ua-cam.com/video/XN4oI2Go0Eo/v-deo.html

Thank you for stopping by and your comment. Remember, you are never too late for making music. 🙂
Thanks for info
You're very welcome 😊
So it's seven months later ... how much have the fears calmed down or escalated since then?

Would you still recommend a new user to join bandcamp?
