I love how you show these cool graphs and then give the same answer we all do when someone reports something wonky around 1830 yesterday "it must have just been something upstream" (goes back to working on other things)
Your videos are great. I've came across them exactly for the point you made. Checking if my ISP in Bali is trying to kick the can down the road. I am a European living here with a private VPN home server abroad. The performance has dropped dramatically all of a sudden. The ISP came with a new router and blamed it on a broken sea cable in Singapore that I can't find much info on. Still digging into it further and learning a lot. Cheers mate!
I have a video planned but for now this blog post explaining every detail will have to do ;) blog.ktz.me/fully-automated-dns-and-dhcp-with-pihole-and-dnsmasq/
You’d either need to do that or get clever with routing. It might be simpler logically to have a couple of smokepings or investigate the softwares client server model instead.
Do you have a Debian 12 Bookworm install guide? Had this running just fine until I updated and now I can't find a guide that works on the new file structure of everything. Really need this running for one of the reasons you mentioned in your video, calling my ISP.
I love this content and the self-hosted podcast. Keep up the great work!

Shrugging is a powerful troubleshooting tool.
Came for the smokeping help, left with my mind blown about the vscode ssh capability - thank you for that!
Thank you for showing how to add/edit Targets. I had no idea
I’ve been sleeping on this, will definitely implement now!
L3 sleep or…?

Good luck!
Such a useful video :) I might bother to set on up at some point.
You should!
thanks, great overview!
I didn't quite understand your local DNS setup and haven't got mine working the way I'd like. More info on that would be interesting to see.

What do you suggest for a multiwan on pfsense scenario? A separate smoke ping instance is needed for each wan?

2 sp instances with a policy based route for each - sp a goes out link 1 and sp b goes out link 2
What is that sawtooth pattern on the unify?

Excellent and informative video. One question: Where/What do you add to the config to add your unifi equipment?
IP address for a tcp ping like the examples I showed in the vid

Speaking of reliability, how's your new network treating you?
I’m extremely happy with the new fiber gear. Especially now I’m shifting video files around! Video on the upgrade coming soon.
