I was trying to find footage of Smurf Village and found this. I remember I got separated from my mom in Hanna Barbera Land and Yogi Bear took me to the lost and found where they radioed for her to come get me. Thanks, Yogi.
It's a real shame that nobody filmed the Smurf walkthrough; I loved the mild spookiness of the final crooked room with Gargamel in the center, playing the piano. So rad.
I used to love Canada's Wonderland as a kid. Such a great amusement park to be in as a youth of the early-80's and Hanna Barbera land was icing on the cake! I remember being there a handful of times as a really young kid and loving every minute of it. In the spring of 1983, my parents took my sister and I to Florida and we got to experience what was the juggernaut of them parks, Walt Disney World. I remember it being such a disappointment. Minimal rides, boring attractions. I could see it was little more than a cash grab, even at 8-years-old. I actually remember liking Epcot Centre more than it. Nothing ever stood up in my youth, to Canada's Wonder Land!
That is AWESOME!! I am a Mascot Performer.. and I always dreamed of being one in Hanna Barbera land.. when I was finally old enough.. it was the year Charlie Brown had decided to take over.. I miss HB Land every day almost as it was one of my fav. childhood memories but now it's all gone.. The aquarium is still there... Just run down and used for storage.. such a sad thing now.. I get so angry when I think of how I could of taken my kids to someplace I went to as a kid..
Yes! I would absolutely love to have had my picture taken with Dick Dastardly & Muttley. And if Dastardly had put up two fingers behind my head(simulating horns)...well, that's what Dastardly does!(lol).
Kings Island it's sister Parks were at their Peak when these characters were still in there and around characters and animations today cannot even start to hold a candle to how good these guys were
@@whiteshell1 There was a Hanna-Barbera Land in Spring, Texas (just outside of Houston) that was open for only two summers (1984 and 1985). I know because I worked there. It is difficult to tell them apart in photos.
DISnut this was at canada's wonderland in Vaughn, Ontario, this was from the park opened in the 80's until cedar fair took it over and turned it to planet snoopy in 2010, before cedar fair took it over the remaining h-b characters were scooby doo and yogi, along w/ nickelodeon's charactors as the park was at the time owned by paramount en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada's_Wonderland#Kings_Entertainment_and_Paramount_era

me to i do personally think Cedar Fair version has Better Coasters but i do Miss The Top Gun Theming and Tomb Raider Theming all The Paramount Theming and Star Trek Charactors and Hanna Barbera ones not Nickaloadian and i miss alot of the old rides
It's videos like this one that makes me wish that these characters were back on television. I mean besides Scooby-doo and the upcoming Flintstones reboot by Seth McFarlene. When are we ever going to see the other H_B characters back on the old TV screen ? :( Because I can think of quite a few that could fit into this modern-day and age twist. ; 0
2:06 I think that's Captain Caveman not one the Slag Brothers as some people would think. You can see the Caveman's eyes. Captain Caveman's eyes were always visible to the viewers whereas the Slag Brothers' weren't. Plus if that was one of the Slag Brothers, Rock for example, his brother Gravel would be with him. If it is Captain Caveman he isn't he carrying his club? And why is he not wearing his leopard skin vest?
hanna-barbera has such an awesome legacy. without meaning to dismiss disney, HB had so many imaginative characters. sad to see that disney has the monopoly on amusement parks. i guess because movies had more content? and all the HB movies sucked (i.e. flinstones and smurfs - though i hear they're rebooting smurfs properly). anyone have any explanations? people deserve a HB land. it was a huge part of our childhoods. there should be a revival. maybe a herculoids or dino boy movie? come on, please!!
I would love to see the HB characters being used again at KI and CW. It was great seeing all those characters in the parks, and it had a lot of charm to it, they have Snoopy now which is okay but I like the HB characters better. It would be cool to see Cedar Fair license the HB characters from Warner Bros who own them now. I wish HB did better and made more money to be big like Disney and Universal. Bring back more theming to KI and CW. :)
me to i miss hanna barbera land but not nick central to bad cedar fair didnt licance hanna barbera and just put planet snoopy in nick centrals spot and keep hanna barbera land
This was located in Harris County, TX in the 1980s....due to the local economy being poor at the time it only lasted for 2 seasons before it was sold & turned into water park. There was also 2 versions of "Bedrock City" (one in SD and one in AZ) which lasted quite a long time as the IRL version of the Flinstones. The SD location closed in like 2013 & was razed in 2019...the AZ location sold in 2018 & believe it's also been torn down as the Hanna-Barbera licensing was non-transferable.
Canada's Wonderland is in Toronto, Ontario Canada (Vaughn/Maple for us locals). It's still there today. Hanna-Barberra Land was replaced around the time Paramount bought the park and rebranded it in the 90s. A lot of those old rides were replaced with newer ones like Top Gun, The Fly and Vortex.

And here lies a part of my childhood!😪
I remember the Dino spiny ride, and the smurf cave. I was so sad when they got rid of it, some of my earliest memories.
The one Hanna Barbera character I'd love to meet: Muttley!

@@DavidBDavis-lz7bt but they don't have Muttley, only at its sister park in Australia

How long did this last?
Is it still there?

I wasn't born until 1991. 6 years after Hanna Barbera land closed, and I wish I could have gone there, and met some people in costumes.
hanna barbera land actually closed 2010
