Nice little triple trunk Port in a nice looking pot. Great idea for a gift. On the tape, try stretching the corner. Helps sometimes to get it apart. Nice indoor greenhouse. Plants will grow great for the winter months.
Wow, look at the roots on those little dudes. I assume they were started from cuttings? Came out great, but if I had that pot, I wouldn’t gift it. I’d board it all to myself, like a good bonsai guy.
Yup, those were cuttings. I was very happy to see those roots. Well, at least the pot is in the family and I can get it back when, I mean if, if the ports die. 😀
Ha,ha. Thanks. I think I remember that video, now that you mention it. I kinda messed up the editing on that part, but overall I guess it made sense. 😀
Matt, I really appreciate your support. I see your comments an all the channels I watch. I am nowhere close to those levels, but you are more than welcome to join me on my journey to learn. 😀
Really cool video Jay ! Love the way you test for potential bonsai babysitters, 😄👍 very nice planting. I really like your indoor setup and trees, can't wait to see you work on them.
Thanks J. I’ll see what I can work on coming up. Unfortunately I did a bunch of work just before this crazy idea of posting videos… but as long as they grow there will be future work, right? 😀 I don’t know how you guys do it.. 👍
@@BlueJayBonsai - I know I joked about the tape part, but honestly your filming of the repotting was great quality, I like your sense of humour too; I enjoyed seeing all your tropicals and am really jealous of your indoor unit (even if you did set it up like that to thwart your cat!). Maybe a future video could be showing us all your trees (sort of bench tour)? I'm sure others would like to see that. Best wishes, kate
Hi Jay- just subbed (from The Bonsai zone chat 😎). Looks great! Interestingly, I have found that my variegated schefflera do not grow as vigorously as well- hadn’t thought about it till you mentioned it. Keep the content coming!
Ha ha Xin! Don’t be surprised if one day you step outside and a big batch of portulacaria is sitting on your doorstep. 😜 jk. Every time I visit Kim’s Nature (even just to walk around and look) I grab a couple of sheets. They have them next to the cash register. If you plan to go let me know and we’ll meet up there. 👍
So, as you give this a gift to your friends, what are the simplest watering instructions and light instructions you would give them to ensure the largest chance for success
I no longer give away portulacaria afra. I really feel they need a grow light (here in Canada) for the winter months. Otherwise I would say sunny south facing window. Water when the leaves get wrinkly.
🌟Hi Tora! It was for Canadian thanksgiving- so it was the next weekend that I gave it away. You can see it in the next video.. pretty much the same. I will take some footage next time I am at my SIL’s place and share. Thanks for watching!
🌟Thanks Mike! Funny you ask.. I just found out last week that it died. 😢 But I will be getting the pot back and making them something else.. What can you do.. family. 🤣
The clump looks great in the new pot!!
Thanks Nigel! I learned from the best. 😉
I really like those woof fired clay pots from Rays. The way the ash changes the glaze is just awesome.
🌟Thanks Oscars! Yes, I love that finish too! I just need to get him to make a few big pots and I’ll be in heaven!
Pretty little bonsai
🌟Thank you! 🙏

Nice organized bench and work station. I have tools and plants scattered everywhere.
Thank, you. My wife keeps me in line. Lol. 🤣
I can respect a fellow bonsai enthusiast who uses some "Flex" products. One of my first videos showcases that. Nice looking PA!
Ha,ha. Thanks. I think I remember that video, now that you mention it. I kinda messed up the editing on that part, but overall I guess it made sense. 😀
I didn’t know that about variegated. That explains why my plant isn’t growing very much.😅 thanks for sharing.👍
🌟Yup, Nigel taught me that.. I didn’t realize either! 😀
NIce work Jay, that grouping came together nicely, cool cabinet inside as well!!
Thank you Scott! I learned it from Nigel.. monkey see, monkey do. 😝 Why does everything seem 10 times harder when you are filming? Ha ha. Cheers!
New Sub Jay. I have to work my way through your play list. Thanks, keep growing l

GREAT VIDEO!!
Thanks Jacob. So glad you enjoyed it! You'll be in an upcoming video (summer bench build).
Great video. I love the blue jay statue :)
Thanks James. We’ll have to film one together next weekend. ❤️
James, I am expecting your Japanese Maples to make appearances in some videos in the coming years!
Just whatched this video and got disappointed when I saw there are no more ...
Great first video, good luck with future video !
Can't wait 😁
Thank you! I wish I was retired like Nigel so I could make videos everyday, but for a few years more I am still a working stiff. 🤣👍
Nice work Jay!
Thanks Joseph, you’re a great bonsai friend. 😀 I’m waiting to watch your videos.. coming anytime soon? 🎥
@@BlueJayBonsai I’m working on some. Busy time of year at my job. The two months are going to be heck.
My bonsai and project channel is called Tin Joe’s Station
@@josephwatts2341 no rush.. took me a year to post a video. 😀 Best of luck at work. Hopefully you get some overtime or bonus. 👍
@@BlueJayBonsai I forget how many videos I have posted on my bonsai channel.
Nice sir👍🏻
Thank you for your kind words.
Hi Jay, for your first full video that was REALLY enjoyable. The tension was palpable waiting for you to catch the edge of the double-sided tape 😅😆🤣
Wow, you are too kind. I thought that was the worst part! 😴Cheers!

Looks like somebody has got a lot of Portulacaria cuttings and it's not me! Where did you get that plastic mesh? It looks really sturdy!
