Thank you Dan. Having become a Christian as a young teenager at a large private school and being now 64, and having been in many Church environments, visited Iwerne camps for a few years and associated conferences and worked in schools mostly since Uni, I have, to my knowledge, never come across anything which could remotely be called abuse, anything like this, nor have our daughters (either at SS, Momentum or elsewhere). Maybe I have been innocently ignorant of what might be obvious to some. Of course this is absolutely not denying the terrible things of this nature which have been perpetrated by some (or even many world-wide) but maybe we can also note in the midst of horrible times that there are huge sections of God's wonderful Church where these things are not happening and are not being experienced. Praise God for all the good which is going on too, where God's people are being genuinely loved, cared for, preached to and pastored.
Loving this channel. I used to attend soul survivor Watford from late 2001 to around 2006. I made some really good friends but had massive issues with how the church was being run. Since the news broke some of those I know from SSW have spoken out (very bravely).
Such a shame all this abuse was never confronted when it happened. Reputation seems to be more important than victim protection. At least these abuse cases are finally being championed.
Why is Andy suspended but his father Rt.Revd Stephen Croft still in office? Safeguarding batters the small people and safeguards the Bishops not the victims.
I believe in marriage between man and woman and taking the covenant in church and staying truthful to each other. Marriage is to be worked at even in troubling times and come through all the difficulties we have to face together. With Gods guidence we can make it through.
British royals and aristocrats are always baptised, married etc. in private ceremonies - the regular congregation is never invited. Many of them also have their own private chapels of course. All this in the Anglican church.
Thanks for the round up - interested that Ronaldo got baptised but is not married to his long time partner of Georgina Rodriguez of 7 years, just wondered how he answered the questions he was asked !!
Were Andy Croft and others groomed from a young age to enable Mike Pilavachi to continue to be very powerful and do what he liked without question? Church leaders need expert teaching to learn to deal with this and understand the gradual, devious and lengthy methods of perpetrators of abuse will go to to create a fearful culture and make themselves immune to accusations. Matt Redmond left the UK entirely and says it took years for him to overcome the trauma of being in Mike's close circle as a young man. These are very difficult questions that we need to explore in order to alert and protect young people from coercive control and abuse. Educating our youngsters to recognise when Godly Guidance becomes harmful control needs to be part of every church leader, youth worker and parent's responsibility and every church needs to ensure they get informed in order to equip those adults and parents to carry out that education.
My Soul Survivor Church is holding a “Whole Church Meeting” at 8pm on Tuesday 19th Sept., for us to discuss and pray after all the latest news. Personally I do hope that Andy Croft will soon be able to rejoin us, he is a nice person and gifted preacher. (We all make mistakes so we shouldn’t judge each other).
"We all make mistakes so we shouldn't judge each other." That statement is why the church is in the mess it is. Mistakes have consequences and those consequences have to be dealt with. That is just a fact of life. Sorry that sounds harsh but I have heard it too many times.
Hi Stephen, I really hope your meeting went well on Tuesday night. My heart goes out to all of you in the Soul Survivor church and I can’t even imagine how painful this must be for you all. You are 100% right of course, God does tell us in the bible that we are not to judge others. This is a very complex situation where many people, particularly those young adult men, have been deeply hurt. Praying for all.
@@maevelynch1473 Actually the bible says those inside of the church should judge each other. It says we can't judge those outside of the church but it says "Judge with righteous judgement" in John 7. This is a huge huge huge issue when it comes to reporting abuse. If we can't judge then does that mean we can't use critical thinking?! If we say don't judge this leaders abuse, we play a part in covering or enabling abuse. This makes the church MORE unsafe then any other establishment.
Oh, that pastor in California is incredibly like Elvis! I'm American and 71. And an Elvis fan! That Pastor is spooky! I'm definitely NOT saying he is Elvis. I wish he were as that would be a far better ending to Elvis's story. But I have no concrete basis to assert anything but the obvious truth, he is startling SIMILAR TO Elvis. And God bless that man for choosing to serve the Lord! The spirals of the Cologne Cathedral were once the tallest in the world! If anyone wants to know more about that crisis, Search:: Church Militant Cologne now. The Archbishop is not in agreement with what's happening. But even his cathedral priests are in rebellion. They have been blessing same-sex unions against the Archbishop's prohibition. The Archbishop appealed to Rome. But no one in the Vatican has so far responded. The Archbishop stands alone. There is so much food for thought in your broadcasts, Reverend Dan. I thank you so much! God bless you and yours!
Dear Rev Dan....Please do not be too hard on Ronaldo. He would have been mobbed and the crowd of on-lookers would have shouted and pushed during the entire ceremony. I for one do not really care for putting the ceremony of Holy Baptism (which is clearly a separate ceremony from the Holy Communion in the Book of Common Prayer) into the main service of a Sunday. Every time that I have seen this done in various countries, some element of the service is rejected. Usually it is either the particular Gospel of the Sunday (St. Matthew 28 replacing it) or the Sermon. I have been even in situations where the Holy Communion itself was left out so long as everything could be done within the hour which has become a all too holy rule of modernism, be it low church or high. What I prefer is to announce the Baptism of so and so in the previous week and have the service just before or just after the main Holy Communion. Then people can choose whether they wish to participate or not and the integrity of the Holy Communion service (or Mass) is not destroyed. We had such a Baptism two weeks ago of a young man who was raised in Israel. He realized on his own that Jesus was the Messiah and came to faith. The Baptism was announced and a lot of people stayed after the main service for it. No one felt forced to stay if they did not wan to and possibly the young man is question felt more comfortable with a smaller crowd. My only criticism of the Ronaldo affair is that he should have had a proper adult baptistery built for the ceremony. He could afford it and besides it looks a bit silly to baptize a grown man (or woman) using a glass bowl of water and simply sprinkling the person with some of the water. He should have been dunked three times!!!
Two comments - maybe because I'm not an Anglican, but I can't see that a marriage status before God is any different if someone is married in church or not, and it doesn't seem to make sense to me for two people who are not Christians to be married in church. Second point is that in a previous church I know of two people who were baptised not in private, but not in a publicised service. One was a very elderly person who needed a quieter environement, and the other was converted from Islam, and there were some concerns for his safety. I do enjoy your videos and your witness - I have Anglican friends, and also friends who aren't Anglicans but whom God has called to be part of an Anglican church, at least for now.
Well, evil is currently thriving and evil works through man. In the same way people pray and attend Church, seek to live their lives doing good etc, evils objective is to work against man so, it will infiltrate anyone that it needs to, in order to belittle/upset God of Heaven. Whilst the priest (in question) may start out with good intention and humble heart this can change, mostly because of intentional targeting of innocent people, to gain a foothold/control. Another thing worth mentioning is the truth about Freemasonary, it is a Cult that is the opposite of God, but it lures innocent and usually self-employed people in, who believe the rituals/symbols and words they speak etc are of God of Heaven, but at higher levels they learn their connection to Freemasonary is in no way relating to God of Heaven, and they are told their worship has been to Satan. So, Freemasonary is the opposite of God, and its followers (many unsuspecting of this Fact) are seated in all walks of life, including heavy influence within the Church, but also many are seated in places of influence for reasons of covering up crimes, because they have a separate law to the law we all know. Their law means if the judge, police officer etc knows the person has murdered or abused, etc, if they are a fellow Mason, they must cover for them and get them off! Police, courts, high society, you name it. There are also those above the politicians who worship Satan, and in doing this they sexually abuse children, amongst many other despicable actions. Evil will befriend and lure priests into their fold and can indeed act as a cult on many occasions, certainly others around them, or their higher people can be also in question. Evil can work on people singularly, as long as the results are widely seen, for instance working against God and getting away with it, but mostly evil is cult connected and feeding off each others depravity for a "feed" for their dark worship. I don't know about the case on here, but I do know of many, many others. *When such crimes were first being flagged up by the brave and innocent young people, years ago, the church should have recognised the infiltration of evil, got the priest in question in front of an experienced, traditionally trained exorcist, who would have been able to ascertain exactly what was going on. The victims should have been immediately helped, but instead of being let down by the abuser, senior Church staff sought to cover up the crimes, and move the priests on to another part of the Country! and in doing so completely letting the victims down for a 2nd time, I cannot begin to imagine how any of them must have felt at this point! This begs the biggest questions from me, why? The Church behaviour beggars belief! Desperately letting down further and prolonging their anguish, the victims who have absolutely gone through enough hellish behaviour and complete manipulation of their trust! A true story called "Spotlight" is worth a watch, and the places where abuse in the UK was found to be happening along with many other Countries is shown at the end of the film. The list is absolutely staggeringly long. I highly recommend watching Spotlight, to get a feel for the truth of what is actually going on, and has been for far too long. God bless all the good, innocent and true people here, keep speaking your truths. 🙏👍😊 There are many good priests who work under the guidance of God of Heaven, and I know they will be doing their best to out those with questionable behaviours and connections! God bless 🙏
Mmmm.. I think the advice given here is pretty poor. To suggest it's a good idea to report potential safegaurding issues simply to cover your own back in any future scenarios rather than the impediment to get advice on a potential case is harmful. I suggest this part of the video is deleted and the presenter reflects a bit more before recording on such a topic.
I don't think he was making that the main reason, but saying you should get advice if you're not sure, so nothing is missed when it could've been prevented, and pointing out that it could come back on you if something comes to light later.
It's our responsibility to look after our children as parents. If we're in a culture where church denominations are not prepared to put into place Acts/Early Church leadership and hence no accountability, this is what happens! No secular safeguarding will make up for the pride, lukewarm Christianity and lack of discipleship and discipline going on in the Western Churches right now! I think local independent church with Biblical Elders and Deacons is the only way to save the remnant of the Universal Church in the UK.
Does Truth matter Dan, or can anyone preach the Gospel without knowing what they are saying. Because this is what I see in the CoE or any other protestant denomination.
