Just learning this at 63 yrs old.....If older guys have trouble with depression or loneliness, this is a great way to beat it...Well,not for all,but it sure helped me.I have a sense of self worth and accomplishment, even if no one is around...I believe I'm a rock star now...lol
Jimmy page understood the fretboard on a different level, he is a gift to humanity. Combined with plants voice , bonham’s drums , and Jones with everything in between, they were a super band that changed music forever, I believe these guys were put on this earth by design, as with David Gilmore, almost a supernatural talent
@@buttkid3548 Indeed JP did... Just not on this song - which was recorded and typically performed on a Danelectro (two single coil "lipstick" type pickups). If you want to nail the tone on this song I recommend single coils.
I started playing guitar 7 years ago and Marty was my go to guy. I have stopped learning new songs for quite a while and I was focusing more on learning composition. But I suddenly got the urge to learn this song and came to straight to his channel. It was weird seeing him after such a long time, the realization that he has grown a bit older and the nostalgia of that time when I was a beginner guitarists hit together. Thank you Marty! It's great to see that you are still creating these wonderful lessons that will help many of the beginner guitarists to come
2 years I've been learning from Marty Schwartz... today this lesson took me just the intro to learn... thanks for making a guitarist Marty you don't just teach you are a life saver too
My favorite song ever during my senior year of high school. I've been playing for 40 years and always thought it would be too hard to learn. Hail UA-cam and hail Marty...took me 2 minutes!!
Marty, since this song is in DADGAD tuning maybe you should do a video on Led Zeppelin Black Mountain Slide which is also in DADGAD tuning. Sometimes its good to have multiple songs to work on within the same tuning to work on different skills and different muscle's in the hands and fingers.
It's tough to use a lot of gain and play those chords without sounding noisy, I love your relaxed way of playing and your teaching is the best on the net.
i'm playing this on a Tele so i dialed back the treble a bit, helped a lot on a Fender Blues Jr cranked on top gain, medium volume..neighbors haven't called the police yet ha ha
Thanks Marty, you are a great teacher. Whenever I need assistance with a song, I look you up, and I just get it! It clicks very easily. You are an on target teacher!
I used to think alternate tuning was intimidating, but DADGAD is super easy. All you’re doing is tuning the first and last string down to what the middle string is. You don’t even really need a tuner if you just listen to the middle D string.
I feel like a rock god playing this for the first time. Thanks Marty. I'm a busker and I make tons of cash learning many tunes from you. Thank you sir.
Marty until now I didn't give your lessons a chance very much but you ARE a great teacher. Wisdom is a wonderful thing. You just got another subscriber. Thanks so much for your great lessons. (Rusty)
You are my main channel to go to when learning songs on my guitar my guitar teacher in high school is surprised at how much I have learned meaning I only started this September I can play loads of the nirvana songs that you have covered on your channel
Thanks a bunch for sharing Marty. I've been stagnating for some long and decided to force myself back into learning my classic riffs properly. Where better to start than with the Zep? This has got an old and rather tired player's juices flowing again. So thank you again.
Thanks for this lesson Marty! I needed those additional licks to make this song complete, I only knew the main segments but it sounds so much better with those parts :D
Thanks for the awesome Zep Lesson Marty....So many variations with jimmy page over dubbing open string on the G Minor A minor change...Octave in A Minor Go change... Cool..
Hey Marty, I just wanted to say that you're videos helped me so much in learning guitar. Thanks (I'd love to see a lesson about g.l.o.w by smashing pumpkins)

Thanks for supporting www.martymusic.com

The riff is famous & the guitar teacher here is becoming famous too. Thanks Marty.
That is a pretty Les Paul.
The simplicity behind such a powerful riff is just phenomenally eerie for some reason.
That’s crazy, I literally learned this song yesterday and was disappointed a Marty music tutorial didn’t pop up!

This is my mom's favorite song. She would be so surprised and proud to hear me play it.
Great job doing the “slo-mo” section at 5:16 then bringing it back up to speed without a hitch. You’re a machine Marty! 😃
