fun fact: The band has absolutely 0 rehearsal with Purdie before these shows, so everything here (especially Joe and Bernard's grooves) were by the seat of their pants
Fun fact: I was doing the bands monitors for this show and just before Purdie went out on stage he asked me to turn off everything in the drum mix except for the kick drum. No rehearsal, no soundcheck and basically no monitor mix and then goes on to jam that out....great show!
It must be so amazing to play with a legend like Bernard Purdie. Easily one of the most influential drummers in history. If you listen carefully to his solo, you can even hear where John Bonham got a lot of his inspiration.
The first song is his 16th note groove. He’s doing the ghost notes in place of playing all 16 notes on the hats but it’s more of an “in the cracks” feel than a half time shuffle. Outstanding
I am sooooooo glad you have this recorded and posted... How awesome to see Vulfpeck with the man, the myth, the legend, Bernard Purdie himself and pull off the best cover of "Something" I have ever heard... Once again, thanks for posting for those of us who weren't fortunate enough to have been there...🤘🤩🤘
I feel like joe dart just was not playing with purdie at all. I felt tension and disagreement between them the whole time. Maybe purdie wasn’t catching things, but this probably wasn’t super fun for him.
Pretty cool Bernard’s parents named him after the Purdie shuffle.
it should be illegal for a band to be this good

@@jameslawrenson123 dude this is sick! I love the insider baseball knowledge like this.
According to Cory Wong Vulfpeck never rehearses at all
That three-harmony guitar solo has unbelievably mind-blowing
Daniel Veloso I held my breath man
Dude yeah
Sweet jazzy drum at 2:43
Dat fucking bass lick at 3:40
High notes from the gods at 7:00
DEAR LORD

John Bonham listened to a lot of James Brown. The other drummer that he was into was Clyde Stubblefield.
You are absolutely right. The pauses in the solo an syncopation are meta Bonham
That Purdie shuffle is 'Something'
You just have to remember to not worry about the ghost notes. They ain't nothing but rebound.

It's also... HAAAAAAALF notes. I betcha didn't know that, now did ya.
@@An_Arbitrary_Miscellany you didn’t even know you was doing it
@@gustafsone that's right... bernard even esplains it. Remember that word 🤣
I️ saw them live for the first time at this concert, this is the set that made me a vulf fanatic
Same for me ! 😉 👌
Vulfpeck need to bring Something back to their shows. Tears every time.
seeing jack react to purdie is just joy personified
I mean, you can read about how this man influenced Bonham, but nothing hits you harder than hearing it. It's amazing.

Holy shit this is so funky i started sweating. Its the middle of winter goddamn
Theo had brought out his competition-grade pipes that evening!
I was fortunate enough to be at this show, too. My first Vulf show with Antwuan, plus Purdie and so many others! Magic from beginning to end.
“Hey!! Someone is filming this momentous occasion! Imma blind him with the light of zartha”
Bernard Pretty Purdie, the most grooving drummer ever. That 16th note groove is just killer. Or as Purdie would Eeeezy LOL. Great vid!
I love how theyre all just like geeking out and getting so excited everytime they remember they're playing with purdie haha
omg this made my day, the Vulf and Kraz together on stage. I can now die happy man!
So many guest appearances! So much fun!
Bernard Purdie,Legendary Gentle MAN. God Bless.
the excitement jack feels when bernard brings in that phat snare with the shuffle was something to see :0
Great musicians!
I was here for the bass, but damn...those high notes at 7:00 wow...
It should be illegal for this much talent to be on a stage at once
They actually got to play with Bernard :O fuuuckkk yeeeaaaahhh!!!!
TheTwins Canada on multiple occasions I think
Super creative and talented. Thank you for this vid !
That catch by Krasno at 9:27!!
Yeah good catch! haha
That's scared me to death for a sec there
Reflexes like Patrick Roy
Krasno from Soulive?
I'm glad Beatles tunes still have the ability to always get crowds singing along.
as a fellow music nerd, i know the vulfpeck fellas are losing their damn minds playin with Bernard Purdie of all people. so cool
It's so heartwarming to see how happy jack is during Something
Purdie always gives me goosebumps. Any further attempt at explaining his exceptionality will always be inadequate.
Late to the Vulfparty.. but happy to be aboard.
Perfection.
3:20 grooveyyyyyyyy
The cameramans reaction is priceless
That was something!
unfricking real, holy fricking wow
Everything sounds better with the Purdie Shuffle.
2:44-3:20 is my favorite part on youtube
Wow, you don’t see that every day now, do you? 🍾❤️
didnt know my respect for that band could even rise anymore
The guy magically catching the guitar at the end 😮
0:44 no funkin way
Theo just staring at Joe at 4:00 like "get em JOE"
4:15 thank you finger
"Vulpeck" like "wolf pack" ? But, Joe seems more to be a mad chicken ! Best Beatles live cover ever by the way.
fun fact: my socks are off and i am grooving
The funny thing is that Bernard Purdie said he actually played on 21 Beatles songs, instead of Ringo :)
68caribou Beatles fanatic here. That's not correct
Randy Walsh I'm a Beatles fan too, but Purdie said it himself. ua-cam.com/video/hz9EGGiOuso/v-deo.html
which is wrong
This is fucking awesome! :)
no waaaaaay
Lol has CW ever played legato?
oleeeeeeeeeeee
tempo @ beginning of beastly: 86, tempo at end: 76...i guess even the best drag sometimes
in their defense it started off too fast so they kinda ended it at the tempo it was supposed to be
Mel Bryant yeah good point
really, they just dropped speed around the last chorus
they're just nestling down into the pocket
Not quite my tempo.
I feel like joe dart just was not playing with purdie at all. I felt tension and disagreement between them the whole time. Maybe purdie wasn’t catching things, but this probably wasn’t super fun for him.
Of course, Joe and Bernard crush, but Theo is godlike
Ha ha I guess Bernard Purdie did play on a Beatles song.
Drum solo…. In total DARKNESS.???
Something sounded like how Stevie Wonder might have sung it.
Damn Marty Schwartz made it with vulfpeck huh
Why did Jesus blind us half way through....
I'm pretty sure the guys would have played the gig for free just to hire the hitmaker.
That sure is a lot of random crashes for someone with "the best musical instincts"...
Pink boys playing the browns? Nah….
Purdie should be privileged to play with joe dart on the fender bass
