    The mod dolls are actually my favorites. Their faces are so beautiful and more youthful looking than previous Barbies, and I also love the bright colors.

    Hello from New Brunswick, Canada. The "Lamb 'n' Leather " mod outfit is one of my favorites. My first Barbie was the Twist 'n' Turn with Summer Sand hair color, She came with the hot pink and neon green check knit top and matching pink bottoms, 1968.

      I had to look up that one since I’m not very familiar with the mod barbie line, but it’s spectacular. Those twist n turns sure are beautiful. I wish the mod stuff wasn’t so expensive to collect!

    Love these mod dolls. I think my daughter had several of the originals. Sadly she got rid of her childhood dolls in her last move. I know, I'm still mourning that! I have found several very pretty African American and Asian Barbies at thrift stores. I love cleaning them up and making clothes for them. I almost always find them nude so it is fun for me to make them look like "new." These dolls will be donated at Christmas time for underpriveleddged kids.

    My favorite vintage Barbie outfit is Sophisticated Lady! And Im a little partial to the vintage bubble cute Barbies and the swirl ponytail Babies. I also love the American Girl Barbies.

    I think the mod dolls are lovely. Just started collecting reproductions of vintage and mod dolls in the last 9 months and to be honest at first this set (which I don’t have and don’t know if I want) doesn’t do the dolls justice in my opinion. I have the repro of All the Jazz, Smasharoo and Made for Each Other and they were very nice and intricate with beautiful fabric, lining and details... but love the video

    • @JazzHands

      They are very nice in person, but that’s the point of UA-cam, watching someone else to see if you really DO need something!

      Jazz Hands I will say watching your videos got me hooked on the esthetic of the vintage doll. I started out collecting a few reproductions of Barbies from childhood of the 80’s and early 90s, then I became obsessed with collecting all the Dolls from the My Favorite Barbie collection. I never thought I’d love vintage Barbie so much, but I want all I can get. The same with the mod doll. The lashes and weird eyes and puckered lips, there’s something I adore about them! Keep up the awesome work

    I really enjoy your channel! I'm an 80s/90s kid who git into vintage with the 35th Anniversary reproduction. My mom still had one or two vintage outfits, and a new hobby was born!
    Mod is definitely an adjustment. The lame, and brocade on doll clothes just did not hold up. Hence they're scarcity. But after I scored a major deal on the My Favorite Malibu doll, I had to get her another outfit to give her something besides Lemon Kick. Lol

    • @JazzHands
      @JazzHands  Рік тому

      Which outfit did you get her? Lemon kick is a really pretty outfit, one I don’t actually have! I also like the pink bodysuit and lace outfit that they featured on a tv show

    I really need that reproduction set. I love the bright mod clothing but also love the early 800 & 900 series clothing. The clothing were so much more. P.J. has the same face mold as Midge.

      It’s not a bad set, I’ve come to appreciate the TNT face more. I really wish I could get into mod, I think part of my problem is how expensive they are to collect now, being rarer.

    I enjoyed this video so much. I recently got my first mod dolls in a thrift sale: Marlo flip Barbie, Fair Hair Barbie and Live Action PJ. They came with a mod outfit each. I usually prefer the vintage Barbies as I have a beautiful #4. Love all the dolls and fashions you show in your videos. You mention Mandy Rounds as another Barbie UA-camr. I looked her up and did not find her. I am probably spelling it wrong or does she go by something else. Thank you!!

    • @JazzHands
      @JazzHands  Рік тому +1

      Look for Mandi Lee! Mrounds is the start of her UA-cam channel name! If you like mine, you’ll love hers! She especially loves 80s/90s barbie, but collects a bit of everything! I love seeing her collection and so will you!

    WOW, Thanks for reviewing the Mod GiftsetI purchased one (when it was on sale) and haven’t had a chance to debox mine yet.
    You are correct, PJ & Midge had the same face however, they gave PJ brown eyes.
    I prefer the fashions of the earlier 1960’s! I did like it when they gave more accessories with the “mod era” ex. nylons, hats, purses or matching dress and coat. The boots were fun too!
    I like the “Mod Friend”” giftset, I just wished one of the girls would have had blue, pink or yellow shoes instead of the two green pair.

    When I was little I loved the show Julia. It starred Ms. Diane Carol. My Mom took me to get my first Barbie. I saw Julia and went nuts. So this old Fat white broads first Barbie was Julia circa 1968-69 maybe sooner. My parents though Southern did not care about color if we girls wanted a doll we got them. The next month I was treated to my first Barbie and Ken and I had the Blonde Stacy and Red haired Midge plus Skipper. Mom also bought Midge n Stacy and Julia Boyfriends. They we're GI Joe Action figures.Yes Stacy and Midge had similar face molds. I also Had the Sun valley Ski Barbie and Ken and Skipper along With the first Camper. Barbie and Ken had deep tans actually they were just Malibu dolls dressed in ski outfits. I still have all My Mom's Barbie patterns from late 50s Through late 70's. All used repeatedly and later scanned and printed to not damage them further. I have original patterns in sealed sleeves and kept in Notebook. Those patterns served me and my Two sisters as well as all my cousins and my child , nieces and nephews (cause yes boys play with Barbies not just Action figures) and now my grand children. I also have some patterns My Mom and My Aunt's created for the GI Joe's we girls n my male cousins had. Some were hand made dress uniforms from Army-Navy as well as non military clothing. I also got the pregnant Midge n Family as well as another family set that looked country can't remember the names Sunshine Family I think. And I had a Barbie that had hair that grew. My older sister had the original ballerina Barbie from the 1950s early 60s. She also had the original Ken Skipper, Midge, Todd dolls as well as the Barbie similar to yours. My Younger Sister had the Barbies During late 70s n 80s. Oh n I had the first Ken that shaved and had no sculpted or flocked hair. And I got Steve when he came out along with Christie. I had the Hawaiian Barbie, Ken and Skipper Mom picked up on RnR with Dad in Hawaii in 69. Ken had Shirts and Hawaiian shirt Barbie n Skipper had grass skirt n bikini. Ken had Ukulele and all had Leis. Sadly lost my dolls to house fire in 2001 was only able to save my porcelains and some Native American off brand fashion dolls. I didn't inherit the entire pattern collection until Mom passed. I made sure everyone in family has copies of the patterns. Right Now I am collecting Patterns through 80s until present to have a full collection.

    It was P.J that had the exact same face lol. PJ isn't there. It's really strange to think this major change happen within several years. It's like the most abrupt change I've ever seen.

    • @JazzHands
      @JazzHands  5 років тому +1

      reprolover11 11 it’s probably not that abrupt a change, it just looks that way because I cherry picked the different styles. There are some pretty mod-ish vintage Barbie styles from 1964 that are pretty crazy. Can you imagine a Bubblecut wearing these outfits? Some of the 1964 fashions come close!
      PJ! I knew it was one of them lol! It’s amazing how different PJ looks with just new make up on the same face.

    • @reprolover11
      @reprolover11 5 років тому +1

      @@JazzHands I imagine bubble cut Barbie in mod fashions would look like a mom trying to keep up with the trends Lol. It's funny because the older Barbies also looked older facially.

    1968 is my Birth year .Have to say i love 3 things not necessarily fashion periods just fashion interest ... Love one piece body suits ...Love corsets .....Love boots in particular over the knees 60s .. Like to see 50 and 60s classic fashion in general on Barbie .I have to say my favorite Barbies are all of them LOL!! I have the 1962 original Barbie and just purchased a 1971 Malibu Barbie , have a interest in the resin 12 inch Silkstone Barbies . Great vid again brother !!The 2 on the right are way better quality ...Just saying!!
