I like that Maid Marian seems like a slightly more mature character. She seems very sensible and more like a grown woman than some female Disney characters.
I like the fact on the contrary of the usual Disney movie, all of the main characters, the "triangle" (v1llain-hero-tritagonist/love interest: Prince John, Robin Hood and Main Marian) are adults and clearly yet into the dirty games of life: it helps when you have been given a warning yet in a fictional work, it doesn't give you delusions of sugary coating; it tells you as an adult you'll have to face bad, if not outright ev*l people, and sometimes you'll have to deal with them in terms you probably won't like, but sometimes must have to adapt to. Skippy is maybe where a kid has to set his/her eyes to have a window into this world, but him too is having to become an adult in a hurry: orphaned of his father, having to deal with a corrupt order, he basically is a symbol of the necessity to grow up as soon as possible and being willing to also wear Robin's cape, and help one each other in a world full of dirt. The fact they have been able to balance so much well between cynism (without falling into nihilism) and idealism (without on the exact opposite falling into sugarcoating everything) adds one reason why this movie is so good, a masterwork I'd dare to say.
I know at first glance, Marian comes off as a typical damsel-in-distress or delegate female character, but a closer look shows she's much stronger and braver then meets-the-eye. She's smart, kind, mature, brave and sensible. She was well aware of Robin's status as an outlaw and life on the run poverty, and she passionately desired to give up her life of comfort and luxury for that life if it meant being with Robin, or even to turn against Prince John, her 'relative', possibly first cousin, if it was the right thing to do. Even if it didn't work on John, Marian knew she was risking her life begging for Robin's life, and I fully believe she'd do the same for others. Even if she had no fighting or skills of a warrior whatsoever, she had the heart of one and was willing to fight if she needed to. A deleted scene showed her throwing herself between an injured Robin and Prince John, who intended to kill him. Also should point out that she was a good tennis player, so she was at least somewhat athletic.
I had, and still have, the biggest crush on Maid Marian! She's such a sweetheart, and I like to think she had a bit of an influence on me as a kid, Robin too.
Maid Marion was amazing growing up for me. And so hopeful in her true love. I could definitely see her as a Disney Princess. Not to mention the love story between her and Robin had me over the moon

I think that the dance sequence is recycled animation from Snow White dancing with the dwarves. This happened quite a lot during this period at the Disney animation studio, to save time and money.
Fun fact: I remember when I was little, every little girl that watched this movie (even my mom) had a crush on Robin Hood, but not me, I had a crush on maid Marian, tho back then I didn’t know what I felt was a crush. So yeah, my first gay awakening was a fox lady..
Of course she had nothing to do with the very dangerous infiltration, she basically betrayed the King and Robin would not wish to put her in any conceivable harm's way.
Loved this film growing up. Also, there was a children's graphic book, called "Swamp Fox: Birth of Legend". A Robin Hood inspired story featuring you guessed it an anthropomorphic Fox, set during the American Revolution, a Fox, named Francis Marion, who was an actual Patriot leader who used guerilla war tactics against the British when they invaded South Carolina in 1780. Marion's tactics were so effective it delayed British advancement in the south and the British failure to capture or kill Marion earned him the nickname Swamp Fox and is considered by some to be an American version of Robin Hood. The book features many similarities to the 1973 film including a vixen named Mary Videau who is basically the books version of Maid Marian. The artwork wasn't exactly top notch but it was still an interesting concept.
Minor thing but it's so sweet that despite the fact that Robin didn't want Marian to sacrifice her lifestyle for him she was not going to hear that. She was willingly to gives up her status and possibly even risk getting killed by Prince John himself for him. These two are meant for each other because they both cares about the other well-being more than their own.
I really like the expressions at the lines "At least he amuses me..." (3:15 - 3:17). She might look sweet and modest, but time by time also let slips out doesn't disparaging having some... intimate moments 🤭🤭.

@@JoaoGa210 Also in the dance scene, all of her dances were traced off duchess from the aristocats (from the everybody wants to be a cat song) and snow white (from the silly song/yodel song)
I either never saw this movie or it's just been too long to remember, but that animation looks so much better than some of the stuff we see nowadays. Edit: THAT LAST DANCE ANIMATION HOLY CRAP
Another error in this movie was, if you look at Maid Marian begging Prince John to spare Robin Hood's life, you can see that she has "5" fingers in some parts (That's 4 fingers and a thumb equaling 5. I heard and saw this error on another video in the past. In fact, pause this video at 3:42 and you will see exactly what I mean about the five fingers. I'd also like to add that if you pay close attention to the characters in this movie that, even Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham have scenes where they have four fingers and a thumb, so watch for that, in certain scenes, such as where Prince John offers Robin Hood and Little John to "kiss the royal hands, whichever they like, first" and also in the scene at the archery tournament where Prince John is talking with Sir Hiss about his trap for Robin Hood, you can see he has five fingers, just before he slams his fist on the arm rest of the throne. As for the Sheriff, he has five fingers in the blacksmith room, just before Frier Tuck starts calling him an "evil flim-hearted" whatever, and the scene where Robin Hood and Little John are planning the jail break, there are scenes where the Sheriff has five fingers as well. I'm not totally sure, but there may have even been a scene or two with Frier Tuck having five fingers as well. So, watch for those errors the next time you watch this great film. Also, as a straight male Furry, I do agree with some of the people here that Maid Marian is cute, hot and definitely sexy. I've always loved her more than Vixey in The Fox & the Hound. But then, loving Vixey in the same way as loving Maid Marian would not be right, as Vixey is an (unevolved) animal while Maid Marian is a (evolved) person.
Maid Marian looks more like a vixen than Diane Foxington from The Bad Guys. Marian's dance sequence is largely just reused animation from Snow White and The Jungle Book.

I like Maid Marian seems like a slightly more mature Character. She seems very sensible and more like a grown woman than some female Disney characters.
So, this movie used blatant tracing for its animation with much of Maid Marian's dancing at the party being a trace of Snow White's. What makes it even more blatant is that during these sequences she has lost her bloomers and gained a petticoat because that was what Snow White was wearing.
When I was first introduced to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, I liked Ariel. Over time though, I have liked the wife (Chicha) from Emperor's New Groove, Akima, Nani and then I went back to Snow White and worked my way up. From the pre-renaissance era I have liked, The Blue Fairy, Perdy, Maid Marian, Vixey and Bianca. My favorite(s) of the renaissance era (other than Ariel) was Meg, Jane and Esmerelda. I never liked Cinderella (I think because the prince never had a hard choice and there was never another female that felt "normal" or like a friend for Cinderella. That was the strength of Nakoma. If I had to choose between Mulan, Jasmine, Esmeralda or Pocahontas, I would choose Pocahontas (but Esmerelda does have one of the better designs and a more memorable personality. ) My favorite overall though is Odette (from the Swan Princess.) I like the design of the Sailor Moon characters. Anime is Amazing.

This Video: [Exists.] F*rries: "Hey, our ultimate p*rn video is on the Tube for free! Y*ff, yi*f, y*ff!" (Requests for it coming from them, maybe?...) Jokes apart, I think Maid Marian is a good exemple on how to write a character: she is a strong female one, but her force isn't into picking up on fights or revenge; instead, she has an high sense of justice and duty, and if this means renouncing her privileges to stand on the right side, she will do it. They haven't even made her a "card-carrying"/"virtue signalling" character: instead, it's actions and decisions which speak for themselves. She also shows to be sympathethic towards those the "lower" classes, not the usual sheltered, out-of-touch princess. She and Robin Hood, f*rry fandom aside, still are one of the most beloved Disney couples: they stand for something we can relate to, and in all of that they are on the same page throught the thick and thin. It's not just them, the perfect Princess Innocent and Prince Charming: it's a tale of two imperfect, flawed characters (still outlawed, and him sometimes into questionable methods) which anyway stands on the side of the oppressed masses against a power into short-sighted, greedy hands (hey, notice anything?...). Disheartening to notice, anyway, that in what was considered in the 1970s a "kids' movie", and a mixed-reviewed one too, the character writing was actually so much better than in many movies from nowadays: we live in an age when everyone, whethether in real-life, in fiction, or on both "traditional" or social media, has to shout "I'M STRONG!", "I'M INDEPENDENT!", "I'M WITH YOU!", "I WIELD THE SWORD LIKE NO ONE ELSE!", and all of this hamming actually gets on my nerves. I actually have came appreciating this movie even more as an adult than as a kid - Maybe it's because of nostalgia-value, but after all of those years of shouting, "deconstruction" and wanton "complexity" movies like it actually return to be new and refreshing.
Marian's my furry waifu! In my imagination, I married her! ^^ By the way, Peter Ustinov voiced Prince John and King Richard. Also, in an alternate ending, Marian was supposed to be shown taking an injured Robin to the church after the castle battle scene and tending to his wounds. And Prince John bursts in and is about to kill Robin when King Richard returns and arrests John and his accomplices.

Disney Maid Marian is one sexy fox princess. 😀👍🦊
I don't think she is a princess. Part of the nobility for sure, but not a princess.
She's very nice
Maid Marian was actually my first female cartoon crush. In fact, every time l watched Robin hood as a kid I remember being a little jealous of him.
Maid Marian is the orginal Zelda in 1973!
My name is marian
Maid Marian should be just like Mrs Brisby
I wish she was my mother. =>
If you see this comment the actor who voiced Prince John is Peter Ustinov. Your welcome.
Ah yes, she made an entire generation of furries

I love Maid Marian! She's an awesome character.
This is when Disney still had the magic! Now the magic is gone...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🦊
Buddy it’s such an awesome video. Maid Marian the Fox is my first childhood animated crush. Bambi’s Mother the Deer is my second childhood animated crush. I may be a “Furry”. But then I am clearly not much of it like some people truly are after all. To be honest I enjoyed the video. Buddy keep up the great work
Could you do Lady from Lady and The Tramp?
I love her outfit and Voice 💜💜💜

F*rries: "Hey, our ultimate p*rn video is on the Tube for free! Y*ff, yi*f, y*ff!"
(Requests for it coming from them, maybe?...)
Jokes apart, I think Maid Marian is a good exemple on how to write a character: she is a strong female one, but her force isn't into picking up on fights or revenge; instead, she has an high sense of justice and duty, and if this means renouncing her privileges to stand on the right side, she will do it.
I am not a furry, BUT...
Also she was my first Disney crush
Maid Marian girl
I'm love Maid Marian ❤️😍
Some of the The dance sequence is recycled animations from snow white and the aristocats
And The Jungle Book mainly when Little John is dancing is similar to Baloo's dance
The furry fandom mascot of the 70s, just like Krystal was for the 2000s.
I already sure really do like the scene of Maid Marian having a really cute moment with Robin Hood😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
😍
She walked so Loona Could run first ever furry waifu
H
Weird how this character known in the furry pages only gets 7 minutes of screen-time.
