    OUR STORY SO FAR:
    We are Cory & Kristen Williams and in August 2014 we made the long drive from Southern California to Alaska to move into our new home in Eagle River. Here we’ve had the chance to explore Alaska, experience lots of wild events, meet lots of great people and endure the extreme temperatures that the north is known for. On December 20th, 2014 we got engaged after our Polar Plunge under the Northern Lights then later married by our favorite lake on May 23rd, 2015. Then on June 23rd, 2016 we had our first child. A baby girl named Chell.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    WHAT DOES "DudeLikeHELLA" MEAN?:
    "Dude" is me, Cory. I am the dude. "Like" is a joining word which is used to express similarities and "HELLA" is slang for "a lot" or in my case, "the greatest amount". So together, "DudeLikeHELLA" means "The best me I can be".

    Cory, if you let Kristen replace the bathroom bath tub with something else, you can use the old bath tub for some artistic gardening stuffs.

    No running water in a house with a baby? Oh wow... that's bad...
    But I'm glad you were able to fix it, Cory! That's a good training for later times. A daddy must be able to fix a doll house, a favourite toy or a portal gun (or whatever Chell will play with)!

    • @SharonVinyard
      @SharonVinyard 8 років тому

      ***** Sure it's not a worst case scenario. But it's always better to have running cold and warm water, especially with a baby.

    • @SharonVinyard
      @SharonVinyard 8 років тому

      ***** How should I know that? I've never been from Alaska, I'm from Germany. So I don't know stuff like that. So thank you for that advice. :)
      But I think it's kind of bad when you're not used to a living like that.

    I'd definately by your photography. I have an Etsy store and it's not that complicated. Also if your concerned about damp water smell there is a odor eliminator specifically for that. You can probably get it at Lowes, it's called Damprid.

    • @hagamapama
      @hagamapama 8 років тому +1

      It's not so much the odor as the spores, which can really affect some people. Mold spores can be very very nasty. There may need to be a purchase of a dehumidifier if the mold isn't defeated by chlorine.

    • @theredwriter253
      @theredwriter253 8 років тому

      +hagamapama I know that, I just suggested it for smell. They know what they're doing in terms of water/moisture/mold. If they know how to Sauter then they know how to handle things.

    In modern English "Whoa Nelly" used to refer to a thing or a person who has become out of control and gone on ahead and done something unexpected - and then it's said after the fact to express shock, awe, or merely surprise, at the unexpected behavior.
    TL;DR "Whoa Nelly" will follow Cory everywhere.

    Magic sleep suit? Okay then. Glad it's working for you. Really. But, us older parents put our kids in footie pajamas, aka blanket sleepers, and they worked just fine. A 2-pk of Gerber sleepers can be purchased for under $10 from Amazon. The Merlin is $40 for One suit. Just putting that out there for folks to consider.

      Concrete houses would crumble here in Alaska on the first big earthquake. Not all houses are made the same in the US. Some are wood, some are brick, some are even concrete but it varies from place to place.

      a wooden house here in Florida would collapse in the first year with all this rain and humidity!

    • @hagamapama
      @hagamapama 8 років тому

      Meanwhile, we build with wood here in Maine because it resists the cold better. Although in Maine, anything works as long as the roof is sloped (flat roofs tend to create leaks because the snow will stay up there, melt and thaw, melt and thaw, until it's created cracks, slanted or peaked roofs will slide the snow off and make that harder.)

    I just watched "Chris & G's video called RV Work Camping in Alaska - Kenai River Stream Watch - Black Bear Search" & on it there was a Forest Ranger that explained how to tell good berries from poisonous ones. Maybe you can take a look & if the berries are poisonous in your yard, you can removed them before Chell gets old enough to pick & eat them.

    as someone who regularly drinks 2% milk, skim tastes disgusting.

      Anon Snie well what else am i supposed to have my cereal in when i dont have my own milk?

    • @torielric
      @torielric 8 років тому

      +Anon Snie I'm a type 1 diabetic, and my doctors recommend drinking skim milk when my sugar is low, so.... To me it only tastes like thinner milk. I grew up on 2% and I still prefer it, but it's not terrible. It's annoying that it has a shorter shelf life, though.

      +Anon Snie I'm also American and a size zero, so please be careful with generalizations.

      +chase1146 I'm naturally tall and skinny. I also have a high metabolism. I usually eat whatever I want (except juice, because diabetes) and take the appropriate insulin for it. I was diagnosed in March, but haven't gained or lost weight since then. :)

    Never baked cookies before? Well, not any that were intended to be edible. I would think that at some point you would have made a "cookie" for some sort of old SMPfilms thing, but it was never intended to be something good.

    Am I the only one who winces when I see how some home builders have electrical outlets so close to where water pipes run? One thing we have used when using a propane torch to do copper pipes inside a wall is a High Temp Felt Plumber Pad behind the pipes we are soldering, like this for under $8 www.amazon.com/dp/B00EAR3ST4?psc=1&smid=A8CH6SZFCF7FZ Handy to have in ones toolbox.

    What you know as "God's fingers" for the rays of light, I have know that to be called "Jacob's Ladder". Which is cool, I didn't know there was another name for it! :)

    You guys should auction the print off o:
    You could donate it to charity, keep it for yourselves for a worst case scenario, just keep it for whatever, maybe even towards a college fund for Chell if you get enough, or even if thats something you're interested in.

    Awesome video. Thank you for sharing! ... recommend not to close the drywall before the area will dry and you'll use the washing machine for at least 4-5 times (make sure that the new piping connection will hold on hard use). Sometimes, a new job may start leaking after a while. Have an amazing evening. Brian

    Since you're in Eagle River, you can drive up to Wasilla and use the Dry-Cabin facilities. Since many people around that area have dry-cabins, they need to go fill up jugs of water every week, and you can go to a filling station for that where they also have showers that you pay a few dollars to use. Helpful Alaskan Neighbory Tip

    I'd looove to have that picture! I've followed your work since you released the Mean Kitty song, and you introduced me to my favourite band Projected Twin! To have something that connects both of you, that would be so awesome! Be blessed! Love from Sweden

    Cory I would totally buy that picture! I love it. In fact, that's the first thing I thought about when you first showed us. I was thinking I wonder if he'll ever sell that one? But at the same time do you think YOU should keep that one? Because it's like "the original" and there's maybe a little bit of sentimental valve to it? Like maybe you could pass it on to your children one day... I don't know just a thought.
