I for one so enjoyed your memory lane moment and the dressing gown your mum made you for surgery. The fabrics of the gown and robe were enchanting. What a special mother she is and it’s nice to continue sharing her and her qualities with us!
I agree. I lost my lovely Mum when I was 36. Years later met a lovely neighbour 30 years older than me and Helen's Mum reminds me of her and my own Mum. Quietly spoken, intelligent and a great sense of humour...
Lovely story Helen about your lovely mum making your dressing gown. These stories stay with us don't they? I make outfits fir my grandchildren, mainly school projects and dress up. Sadie who 6 tells her friends I'm her 'designer' lol love her...... Soft pink jacket looks lovely on you, and the orange shirt is stunning. Xx
I loved the story about your Mum making your dressing gown to go in to hospital. Smells, music and patterns are thought evoking also the weather 😂. Great video Helen xx
Another great video Helen… I get myself a coffee and get comfy on the sofa every Saturday morning to watch your latest. You never fail to make me laugh… I had a good giggle about Rob and the ironing and the ‘pervs’ 🤭 Thank you for brightening up my Saturdays.
Do not get bored with your memories Helen. They are our life blood. I love a Thai curry and I usually do Mary Berry with loads of ingredients. I think this will be my go too and taste just as delicious. Enjoying the view of your ‘ unused’ pretty tea towels. 😉 I thought the last dress was an ideal holiday dress. Looked very relaxed and confortable and worth the adjusting The coat was lovely but I would never wear it. It’s freezing now but next week will be great for the caravan according to the forecast. 🤞🏻
The story about your lovely Mum making your dressing gown was so sweet ❤ Some lovely pieces in the haul..... the last dress will be perfect for your holiday 😎☀️ The thai curry looked delicious. Thank you as always for sharing Helen. Enjoy your weekend 😊❤
I love the floral border print dress! I wish you could take the sides in because it is so pretty and flattering. That is such a sweet story about the dressing gown your mother made for you for the hospital...and how so proud you were to tell people that she made it! What 17 year old would be so proud of that today?😃
Hi Helen, just love your videos. You always put a smile on my face. Lovely memory of your Mum making your dressing gown, and that sundress was my favourite. Would be perfect for your upcoming Caribbean holiday and really would be worth altering if it could be done reasonably. The orange blouse really suited you to. Vibrant on one of those lack lustre days. 🙋♀️
Thank you as ever for your video, straight away you have me giggling. I love all three of the Next dresses, especially like you say as a holiday dresses. Your chicken looks yum yummy, I will definitely be trying your recipe this week, thank you 😊😊😊
Do consider getting one of those little lapel microphones, especially for your cooking videos Helen. I don't think they are very expensive and I think it would really help us hear you better. X

I see you're embrasing your colour coding and trying Pinks, but I liked the orange on you much better!! Like the clothes 👍👍 the dress just needs nipping in around the bust to create a better fit, because theyre really nice, very summer!!❤
Hi Helen I don't know why but the comment you made about the frozen onions being kept in the freezer and you saying where else would you keep it, just cracked me up and I had to pause the video until I stopped laughing 🤣 thank you for starting my Saturday off with an uplifting laugh. Love all the dresses and the food looks delicious 😋 xx
A really nice blue dress, for keeping i presume. Regarding rice, we learn here that so called parboild you dont need to rince but the asian you have to. As always a good haul thanks ❤
I really like the orange blouse, Helen 😊👍🏻It really suits you ❤ The last blue dress is a win too. The white sandals will look great with this dress 😍 I also enjoyed watching you cooking a thai curry 🍛 It looked so yummy 😋 Thank you for sharing, Helen and have a nice weekend 🌞 xx
Great video Helen- looks like we’re having green Thai Chicken for tea tomorrow 😊 Can I just also tell you the coconut and plum cake was absolutely delicious and very easy ❤ thanks
Hi Helen. Love the orange blouse on you and the last blue dress, as you said the two sundresses were very expensive and didn’t fit too well, but loved the border print. I think the jacket from M&S was very expensive and dry clean,! Lovely of you to try these things for us though. Thank you x
Buy fresh ginger, put it into a bag,and freeze,I actually double bag mine, then when you need it just grate it frozen,it grates beautifully.Yes arsenic is found in rice,it absorbs it from the soil.I checked the Caribbean weather in November,it’s said high 70’s-80’sF, low humidity, just the same as NYC now,we have had about 73-80F with low humidity, absolutely beautiful,I don’t need my air conditioning, and I am on the 5th floor.Sounds like the perfect time to cruise the Caribbean.😊
Hi helen, enhoyed this video, as ever. I loved the last dress on you, with the kinda fern print. The pink jacket was gorgeous, but ooft, its pricey 😮. Curry looked delicious! Hope youre having a good weekend 😊 xx
I love everything you chose, but I think the dress looks gorgeous on you! Please take one of those dresses, they flatter you! That dish looks great! YUM
Hi Helen, another treat……Will make the Thai Curry next week as I am out on Sunday for a meal, being treated by family for my 76th (OMG what a huge number and seemed to have arrived at it far too quickly😂) Such a shame two of the dressses gaped at the arms …. Sizes can’t be relied on these days. Enjoy your weekend🏴xx
Hellloooo Helen!! Oh I loved that cashmere coat/ blazer!! What a beautiful color!! I think you'll be cooler in the soft blue dress you picked for £11 with the tencel in it. We've been to the Caribbean alot over our married life and it is bloomin' hot and humid. Whew!! Even linen itches me there!! The Thai chicken looked yummy and easy, thanks for cooking it. You have to love Dolly; she has such a personality Haha Xoxo
Watching you from Honolulu Helen just before going out for dinner.i think the pink jacket was very nice but agree with you £150 is a bit steep for me! My husband does the ironing too! It’s good to keep him active while his memory is still ok. I’m hopeful for a few more years yet.
Hearing about your Mum making your dressing gown was so nostalgic for me. I agree your skin is looking absolutely gorgeous, just beautiful 🥰. Also, thank you for pointing us towards the Next Clearance section… I managed to find 2 linen T shirts, originally £45 down to £11. The dual ring fan stove looks like good. Thanks Helen, yummy Thai curry x

At the moment there is a massive surge in “life on a budget” and “frugal” channels. Cooking from scratch has also becoming a way to save £££’s off the weekly grocery budget. Feeling the pinch myself with energy prices set to increase again. I guess now people are looking for channels to help them save a few pennies. But i’d never unsubscribe to your channel! But a lot of it goes over my head at the moment as i cant afford to buy anything new.
I understand that completely. Most of what I buy is returned. But I'd like to think that it can give ideas of what is in the shops. How you can repurpose clothes that you own already or find in the charity shops maybe.... I appreciate your loyalty, I really do. Thank you xx

I agree wholeheartedly, the last dress is the winner. The other items are not for you but like you I love border prints and that dress could have been so beautiful but they got it wrong. Love the last one on you & perfect for the Caribbean. I always cook Basmarti rice in plenty of water for 8 minutes then rinse it several times with boiling water through a sieve as there is arsenic in the rice paddies evidently. (A very good reason not to cook the rice until the water is absorbed.)
Hi Helen enjoyed the fashion today thought the pink jacket was overpriced considering it wasn't lined and I agree with you it isnt practical, also looked too big on you. Shame about the two sundresses being out of proportion but the last dark blue one lovely, just needed a few darts round the armhole, I wouldnt lift it up as think neckline would be too high. Nice to have memories from our younger years, a bit like passing someone wearing a perfume you used to use, the memories flood back😊 luvnhugs Margaret.
When you wash your rice , it removes all the starch and also has the added benefit of the leftover rice lasting for 3 to 4 days in your fridge whereas unwashed only lasts bout 2 days. Just something I discovered having to cook for 6 o I had another meal all ready to go. Excellent benefit!
I’ve been to the Caribbean lots of times and would highly recommend sun dresses, beach cover ups, shorts Tops and nice dresses for the evening. Don’t forget the mosquito spray.. Sunhat, sandals, it will be very hot. Xx
Omg Helen…I absolutely adore watching you lol😂 you always make me smile but more often laugh…and am sure your kids will definitely think you are ‘Cool’ lol😂 keep up the good work x
Hi Helen. It sounds like 4 seasons in one day in the U.K. - not an unusual phenomenon! I did like the colour of the jacket but for the price, I would expect it to be fully lined. The blouse was very bright and cheerful for autumn and I’ve yet to see a colour that doesn’t suit you.The red and white Next summer dress was lovely but it did seem a bit tight and the second one was beautiful and I would have left it the length it was as I think it gives a younger and more flattering look than dresses which fall just below the knee.I’ve never tried a Thai curry and being a pestacarian , I guess it would be ok to replace the meat with prawns. It looks delicious and I hope you enjoyed it.💛🌻
Hi Helen Nice few pieces is the stores. I have that last blue dress you tried on and have worn its few times. Irons nicely and keeps its shape. Value for money the best. Have a ice week and see you in the next onex
Hello Helen,, the first two dresses were beautiful however the last one for 11.oo dollars was the most versatile. The curry chicken dish looked delicious. Helen I love when you tell stories about your past and I love when you just ramble on its fun.😊
Hi Helen . The pink jacket was ok , but for that price I would like it to be all lined . The last dress was definitely the best , with a little adjustment . Curry looked delicious , so will give it a go . I always keep a piece of ginger root in my freezer, works perfectly fine, just grate it & pop it back . Thanks for sharing 👍
Today I'm loving the Orange Blouse...stunning on you Helen and the whie sundress with the flowers and beautiful border. The pink shacket is wonderful but that needs to be lined for that kind of money. 29 degrees here today in South Western Ontario so I'm relaxing sort of. With this weather i have been hand washing my rugs. They dry in an afternoon.
Curry looked lovely I’m going to do some of that, I’m sure you will find a nice lined washable pink jacket Helen the blue shift dress was very reasonable and nice ❤❤
Loved the last blouse Helen. The colour really suited you. Had to put the subtitles on for the cooking as it was a bit noisy, but i understand. It looked delicious. Will try that one. Frozen onions 👍 . TTFN xx
Helen - you crack me up…(“the pervs” 🤣🤣🤣). You’ll be doing “Only Fans” next! 😜😆 That pretty pink/green floral dress really is lovely isn’t it? I like the blue sleeveless one too. Re you in hospital with your lovely floral dressing gown at 17…how funny…I had to have my gall bladder out when I was 16 (63 now) and I remember my hospital dressing gown for that hospital stay so so vividly. I just loved it. I chose a leopard print one much to my Mum’s disappointment 😆 It had a zip and a hood and I thought it was so funky! Every time I think about that gall bladder hospital stay it’s the dressing gown (and the dropping/losing of one of my contact lenses) that always instantly comes to mind. Mind you Helen, on reflection, I’m not sure I was 100% sweet and innocent like you back then! Remember it like it was yesterday. Anyway, thanks again for your videos Helen…love them. Have a lovely weekend. Mary (Scottish Hel’s Belle living in France) 🤗
Orange blouse and the second dress were the nicest I thought. Best thing about the pink jacket was the colour. Otherwise not worth the money... Enjoyed the cooking Helen. I've picked up so much from you and tips from the other HBs. Have I reached this grand old age not knowing there were frozen onions out there?! I hate cutting onions! So the frozen ones are on the next shopping list. Wonder will his lordship notice the difference... 🤔 🤭
Agree, the final dress was a winner. Looked lovely on you. If you soak your rice for at least 30 minutes, it cooks quicker. I use basmati rice, put it in boiling water and cook for nine minutes. Freeze your ginger and grate it while still frozen.
I’ve noticed that on Next’s new in sizes are often shown out of stock but then they start appearing. I think it’s because the stores show the items before the stock actually arrives ! My trick is to favourite anything I like then check in every couple of days. More often than not it’s less then 2 weeks and the sizes are available. 🎉. Good way to generate sales, we always want what we can’t have 😂
Love the border print sundress and if it were me I’d do the alterations. It would make my heart sing - the only reason to buy anything at all. Marg in Oz
Thanks for the recipe and I could almost smell the curry. And I will use uour recipe. About your friend annd the rain. I had a house with a tin roof. To be tucked up in bed with a good book and listening to the rain was heaven. "Isn't it funny how we have such different tastes, good too. As you say. Just being honest, the pink garment, to me, looks like a mix between bed jacket and dressing gown.Sorry Helen. Do love your videos. HB. 🎉
That bright orange colour really suits you and although the dresses were nice, if I was paying that much for a dress, I wouldn't want to have to make alterations. That last dress was good value and only needed taking in at the armholes. You've put me in the mood for a curry after watching you cooking.
Now that’s so funny ,my mummy made me a red velvet dressing gown and all my nighties when was 5years old and went into hospital to have my tonsils out ,I got myself into such a state because I wanted my mummy ,in the 50s parents weren’t allowed to stay with you .Long story short I was sent home and 65 years later I still have my tonsill😅
Hi Helen l liked the pink jacket but l agree it is too expensive. The £11 sun dress will be perfect for your holiday. Your Rob’s reply to your advice on ironing is exactly what my husband would say to me, he must be a brother from another mother😂😂😂
the orange is a great summer shirt,,, nice for the tropics,,,, the printed dress is nice,, maybe in the next size ,,,, the pink flowered one is pretty obviously too big,, lovely on you,,, like u said 45 pounds seems alot,,,, the blue is cute and def a better price
Hi Helen, that coat is a pretty colour, but I think that for the price, it should be lined. Also, it's not very well cut on the back, so it's a,👎from me 😄. I loved the sprig flowered dress, if I could sew, I'd be tempted. The last dress is an absolute bargain and so flattering. I'd wear that. I do like Thai curry - the coconut milk does something special to it. I don't wash my tice fry my rice in oil while it's still uncooked then let it simmer away. Have a lovely weekend. Anna-Marie x
While I understand your thinking on the two sun dresses, they sure do look beautiful on you…very complementary and suit you perfectly IMHO. But I totally agree that you would be uncomfortable in the heat…a good loose fitting linen would suit best. Also, the orange top looks phenomenal on you with your tan and hair color. I really hope you enjoy your Caribbean vacation!
Hi Helen. Pink jacket is nice but IMO it's expensive for the look. The blouse looks great on you . If it was me I would have the sleeves dangling in the food 😂😂. The dress is nice but could be hot around the middle. The second dress looks gorgeous on you, I have the same problem under the arms. I usually have to take the seams in either side 😟 The blue dress is worth the alterations for £11. It would have cost more for the material. Curry looks delicious !! Have a good weekend 🌹🌹
That white flowery dress is so very lovely - would it not be worth doing the alterations? Those colours and the way it fades into white at the bottom is not often see, but I do get your point about the price!
So agree with you about marks - have shopped with them for over 40 years the last 20 years mostly online- it's so annoying and frustrating when things that are supposed to be new in is actually out of stock but what really makes my blood boil is the enter your email address and we will notify when it's back in stock - i think they have only notified me once in the last 10 years - it is time marks pulled up their socks or they will lose all their loyal customers (ie. women of a certain age 😊) love ❤️ all your hauls really helps to get a feel for what's out there really enjoy your chats as well - much love xx

It looks delicious and I hope you enjoyed it.💛🌻
Absolutely, would work with prawns.
Thank you xx
Helen always enjoy your vlogs, you do make me smile ❤️❤️❤️
That's lovely, thank you xx
Hi Helen
Nice few pieces is the stores. I have that last blue dress you tried on and have worn its few times. Irons nicely and keeps its shape. Value for money the best. Have a ice week and see you in the next onex
Oh thank you and you xx
Hello Helen,, the first two dresses were beautiful however the last one for 11.oo dollars was the most versatile. The curry chicken dish looked delicious. Helen I love when you tell stories about your past and I love when you just ramble on its fun.😊
Ah, thank you xx
Yes, I've heard that before.
Thank you xx
Today I'm loving the Orange Blouse...stunning on you Helen and the whie sundress with the flowers and beautiful border. The pink shacket is wonderful but that needs to be lined for that kind of money. 29 degrees here today in South Western Ontario so I'm relaxing sort of.
With this weather i have been hand washing my rugs. They dry in an afternoon.
Ooh nice xx
Thank you for yet another lovely enjoyable video. ❤😊❤
My pleasure 😊 xx
Curry looked lovely I’m going to do some of that, I’m sure you will find a nice lined washable pink jacket Helen the blue shift dress was very reasonable and nice ❤❤
Thank you xx
Hi,in UK we can have all seasons in one day😂 lovely colour jacket but for the price would like it lined. Thank you for sharing 😊
You’re welcome 😊 xx
Loved the last blouse Helen. The colour really suited you. Had to put the subtitles on for the cooking as it was a bit noisy, but i understand. It looked delicious. Will try that one. Frozen onions 👍 . TTFN xx
Yes, sorry abou that.
Thank you xx
I love the colour of the pink jacket, but for that price, I’d want it lined. It does look lovely though xx
I agree. xx
The coming week is quite warm and pleasant, an Indian summer.
Thank goodness xx
Only Grans!
Thank you and you xx
@@Helenmaryjo 🤣
Frozen onions and garlic are a game changer ! Must try the ginger 🫚
All those things are so handy xx
Orange blouse and the second dress were the nicest I thought. Best thing about the pink jacket was the colour. Otherwise not worth the money... Enjoyed the cooking Helen. I've picked up so much from you and tips from the other HBs. Have I reached this grand old age not knowing there were frozen onions out there?! I hate cutting onions! So the frozen ones are on the next shopping list. Wonder will his lordship notice the difference... 🤔 🤭
I've used the frozen onions for ages... They also do sliced red onions which are handy too xx
Brilliant video as always.
Thank you xx
You are looking fabulous.
Ah, thank you xx
Oh Helen, you made me laugh out loud. You are so cool! 😁 I love the orange on you, it really looks good.
Ah, thank you xx
Agree, the final dress was a winner. Looked lovely on you. If you soak your rice for at least 30 minutes, it cooks quicker. I use basmati rice, put it in boiling water and cook for nine minutes. Freeze your ginger and grate it while still frozen.
Thank you xx
Helen, you really are superwoman. Your skills are endless. You look amazing. I love your content ❤x
Ah, thank you xx
Hi Helen ❤ the floral M&S dress is stunning, with your talent on alterations it will be beautiful ❤ The food looks yummy 😋
Thank you very much xx
I’ve noticed that on Next’s new in sizes are often shown out of stock but then they start appearing. I think it’s because the stores show the items before the stock actually arrives ! My trick is to favourite anything I like then check in every couple of days. More often than not it’s less then 2 weeks and the sizes are available. 🎉. Good way to generate sales, we always want what we can’t have 😂
Very true.
Thank you xx
Love the border print sundress and if it were me I’d do the alterations. It would make my heart sing - the only reason to buy anything at all. Marg in Oz
Thank you xx
Thanks Helen,I’ve ordered the blue dress for £11,hope it looks as nice on me as it did on you.
Fingers crossed xx
Wow Helen you really suit the orange blouse x
Ah, thank you xx
The orange blouse looks lovely a front tuck would prob look great.
Good idea xx
That last dress was stunning and worth adjusting. Think you might regret sending it back!
Thank you xx
Meant the pink and white long dress ,it is gorgeous!
Thank you xx
Loved the pink jacket Helen but I agree for the price I would want it lined 🤪
It's gone back....
Thank you xx
Thanks for the recipe and I could almost smell the curry. And I will use uour recipe.
About your friend annd the rain. I had a house with a tin roof. To be tucked up in bed with a good book and listening to the rain was heaven.
"Isn't it funny how we have such different tastes, good too. As you say. Just being honest, the pink garment, to me, looks like a mix between bed jacket and dressing gown.Sorry Helen. Do love your videos. HB. 🎉
No worries, it's been returned xx
That bright orange colour really suits you and although the dresses were nice, if I was paying that much for a dress, I wouldn't want to have to make alterations. That last dress was good value and only needed taking in at the armholes. You've put me in the mood for a curry after watching you cooking.
I agree.
Thank you xx
Hi Helen it was lovely to meet you in Hythe today. Our cockapoo Wilson hears me putting the cheese Tupperware box on the worktop from the fridge.
Likewise. So glad we bumped into each other. Thank you xx
Yes, your skin does look good x
Thank you very much xx
Now that’s so funny ,my mummy made me a red velvet dressing gown and all my nighties when was 5years old and went into hospital to have my tonsils out ,I got myself into such a state because I wanted my mummy ,in the 50s parents weren’t allowed to stay with you .Long story short I was sent home and 65 years later I still have my tonsill😅
Oh my goodness. It was terrible about parents not being allowed back then when you think about it. xx
Hi Helen l liked the pink jacket but l agree it is too expensive. The £11 sun dress will be perfect for your holiday. Your Rob’s reply to your advice on ironing is exactly what my husband would say to me, he must be a brother from another mother😂😂😂
I think there's a lot of them around... haha.
Thank you xx
the orange is a great summer shirt,,, nice for the tropics,,,, the printed dress is nice,, maybe in the next size ,,,, the pink flowered one is pretty obviously too big,, lovely on you,,, like u said 45 pounds seems alot,,,, the blue is cute and def a better price
Thank you xx
Hi Helen, that coat is a pretty colour, but I think that for the price, it should be lined. Also, it's not very well cut on the back, so it's a,👎from me 😄. I loved the sprig flowered dress, if I could sew, I'd be tempted. The last dress is an absolute bargain and so flattering. I'd wear that. I do like Thai curry - the coconut milk does something special to it. I don't wash my tice fry my rice in oil while it's still uncooked then let it simmer away. Have a lovely weekend. Anna-Marie x
Thank you and you xx
While I understand your thinking on the two sun dresses, they sure do look beautiful on you…very complementary and suit you perfectly IMHO. But I totally agree that you would be uncomfortable in the heat…a good loose fitting linen would suit best. Also, the orange top looks phenomenal on you with your tan and hair color. I really hope you enjoy your Caribbean vacation!
I'm sure we will.
Thank you xx
I usually have to take the seams in either side 😟
The blue dress is worth the alterations for £11. It would have cost more for the material.
Curry looks delicious !!
Have a good weekend 🌹🌹
That white flowery dress is so very lovely - would it not be worth doing the alterations? Those colours and the way it fades into white at the bottom is not often see, but I do get your point about the price!
To be honest, I just can't be doing with the work.... there's always another dress.
Thank you xx
That orange shade is lovely on you
Ah, thank you xx
Looks very yummy! X
Thank you xx
Thanks Helen xxx
My pleasure xx
Another great video ❤
Ah, thank you xx
Just love your chats irrespective of the clothes
That's lucky! haha xx
Thank you very much xx
I enjoy all your videos, whatever the content
Ah, thank you Dympna. xx
