  • @trevorpritchard9715
    @trevorpritchard9715 3 роки тому +1

    John.....is is truly fascinating and very helpful indeed! Question about pop ups though. Given that once a pop up has entered a carp’s mouth and carp has been hooked (hopefully) surely in that relatively short moment of time a carp will not be getting all ‘the notes’ of the flavour?

    • @johnbakerbaits9108
      @johnbakerbaits9108  3 роки тому

      Carp are able to evaluate the bait before it even enters their mouths, they have taste receptors all around their heads and even on their bodies. Their sense of smell is 1000s of times better than ours, and given the assumption that taste is linked to smell we can confidently assume that they’re able to detect all of the notes of the flavour, even if for a short amount of time when inside the mouth. Also using a slightly longer hair rig as I discuss in my previous video will allow the bait to be taken further into the mouth

      Making your own bait is mega, but I have 2 mild warnings! 1. It's time consuming to do, so could mean less fishing time. 2. It's like going down the rabbit hole! That said, it's a significant confidence boost knowing your bait is the best on the lake, and catching on it is very rewarding.

  • @steveow40
    @steveow40 3 роки тому +2

    Hi John, regarding you blog referring to how much flavour to use relevant to the size of egg, would be useful to have the ideal max and min level of flavour per a given ml of raw egg printed on your bottles of flavour. It would be so simple then to crack any desired quantity of eggs into a measuring jug and then add the required ml of flavour per ml of egg. This makes more sense than using the flavour x weight of base currently on the bottles. Or if you don’t want to do that then how about putting a PDF on you website that lists recommended ml of flavour X ml of liquid Egg for all of you flavours? Thanks

    • @johnbakerbaits9108
      @johnbakerbaits9108  3 роки тому

      Hi Steve, I appreciate your comments but there are too many factors that would determine flavour levels such as the type of base mix, whether its hookbaits, freebies or paste and how long each average session is. Also the regularity with which you may be fishing the same venue. All this has a bearing on the recipe of flavour levels so it would be very difficult to create a pdf table that suits all flavours and base mixes.

      Bait size is irrelevant, you can make these by hand. I suggest you try my bio shelfish to 6 eggs put 20ml of salmon oil, 3 ml of ala salar, and 1 ml of crab and 10ml of shrimp. I know this recipe has caught many monster catfish in the UK. Good luck

  • @danielgreen4621

    Hi John you mention that flavours in plastic bottles after a while become toxic. I have to use a lot of plastic baits because of crayfish. Would the flavours also become toxic if left once they are used on plastic baits. If so how often should I be changing or throwing away plastic baits that have had flavours put on them.
    Regards Daniel

    Being in the EU, I was interested to hear about the FEMA number issue. Is it safe to assume that I will still be able to buy your flavours and get them shipped to Italy?
