It is a unique state. For us who are Europeans it is probably a very "stereotypical" US State. It is very difficult to understand the mentality especially if you are not American but if you know a couple of things you can make sense. They call it independence and individuality and "do not tell us what to do". Some people would call it individualism, selfishness and "i do not care about other people's welfare". Well, it is not selfishness. It is just what the US is about. And it s working. Because I have never seen millions of people leaving the US because they are unhappy. So "it is good to live in Wyoming". Good luck!!
Each and ever time I have been to Wyoming I catch myself trying to scheme a way to get my wife to move there....Love the people, love the hunting and love the laid back way of life. On a side note, I think our whole country could learn some very valuable lessons from ranchers as it relates to being frugal and hard work as well.
Been eyeballing WY for a long time. As soon as we can, we are packing up and heading to check it out. I hate the city sprawl. I need nature, I need freedom and I need peace.
I had wanted to see Montana since I was 17. I’m 22 now and had forgotten about it but in May of this year I decided to go to South Dakota and from there meandered into Wyoming. It’s now my goal to move and start a life there in that beautiful state. True freedom away from politics and city life.
I live in California and I am not left wing. I do bronze sculptures and love nature. I want to get a few mules and donkeys and retire in the great state of Wyoming. Thank you 🙏
I lived in Rawlins and Cheyenne for over 2 years between 2007-2009 . As a guy from Turkey, I was never ever discriminated against and always given equal opportunities and social and professional environment. Which is something you cannot easily receive in Europe, which talks so much about liberal values but never applies the foreigners. Wyoming is where true American values are alive and lived !
we travel to WY every year from new england, it is big sky country for sure ,seems like the state has so much to offer from the national grasslands to yellowstone giving a person so many places to live if they so wish. yes it is cold and windy in winter but try living in alaska at 50 below an 4 hrs of daylight in the winter. WY is just a natural wonderland oeace and quiet and good ole home town feeling.
if wyoming (especially in the plains) had a bit more water and consequently were more green. it would be among the most stunningly beautiful places on earth. And way more crowded. Well thank God it ain't then :-)
I've always said that to appreciate the beauty of Wyoming I need to get off I 80 go down a dirt road get out of your car get down on your hands and knees crawled through his headdress and find yourself a prairie rattler.
I currently live in the Atlanta metro. I live what it's done for my career, but watching this gives me serious thought about moving there if I can find work. Is safer, has more open space, and seemingly, more freedom.
Wyoming also has a seriously low crime rate. Some say it’s because with so few people everyone knows everyone else. Others say its because Wyoming has the highest rate of gun ownership in all of America and also the world lol. I like to think it’s a bit of both lol So if you move to Wyoming don’t bring your big city politics with you. We want Wyoming to stay just the way it is. Cheers
Neighborliness really is an issue that you must respect. If you have a dispute with someone you have to find a way to work it out amicably. Don’t be quick to take someone to court, because in small towns everyone knows everyone.
Just don’t bring your NY politics with you. You’re welcome here but blue state politics are not. We like it just the way it is thank you very much. Cheers
Everyone who grew up in Wyoming "knows" this. Plain fact is, I hate the high desert, a barren wasteland. I grew up in the east. This has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with personal taste.
Wyoming is less expensive than Montana. I've also been looking at those states, taking a look at geography, the expenses, the people, the sites, all of it.
Wyoming has more mountians than SD, more prairie than Montana and less people than both. The mountians are not just on one side of the state here. Lots of history. We have the emigrant trails. It has the best of all three states and then some.
I'm not sure where they choose to writers to talk about Wyoming's culture. Particularly one from Vermont of all places. It seems to me as though they should have picked a Rancher and a coal miner.
If you’re from Wyoming you are a Wyomin plural is Wyomins. If anyone has a different opinion on this leave a comment with what you call people from Wyoming. I would love to hear what others have to say about this. Cheers
I love ranchers! When the carnivore way of eating takes over, which it will because plant agriculture is unsustainable, the ranching life will not be marginalized anymore.
ranching requires massive amounts of land and that is something we are running out of... we generate alot more food per acer of land with corn or really any other crop rather then livestock.
Speaking about preferential bids, they are set up the way they are in order to keep big companies from snatching up all the grazing rights simply because they have huge amounts of money. It means smaller ranchers have a fair chance at having grazing rights. Giving everything to the highest bidder isn’t always the best way of doing something. Everything in life shouldn’t always be about money.
Maybe the ranchers should get more farm aid all the farmers in the other states do ; they got new homes new equipment and 3 or 4 new trucks and cars. Of course this is paid for by tax dollars and sort of a welfare program if you think about it. Your crop fails the Government pays you anyway How can you loose.
I'm a 4 the generation rancher I ranch the same ranch my great grandfather staked out before Wyoming was a state we still live in the same house that was builtn in 1875 and completed in 1903 it was built from lumber on the ranch every board is off this property we still use equipment I learned on as a child even though we do have some newer equipment 30+ years old our feed truck is the same one that has been here since the 50's as well as our small cattle truck also more than 59 years old as to pick ups yes I have a newer one for trips a 05 other than that the daily trucks are late 60's very early 70's and two that are older than. My wife has a garden in the summer and we hunt deer and elk for our winter meat as well as a trout stream that runs through the property. We have had good years we have had bad years even some we didn't think we would recover from but we have held it together tightened our belts when we have had to and celebrated the good years . We have not ever files for any bad year we were not raised that way. We are not rich in money but I wouldn't trade this life for anything I get to work with my family and raise another generation of people that take pride in the land they work some days you freeze some days you burn up but it is our piece of heaven with out hand outs ever we have been the lucky ones I don't personally know any that would enjoy taking money from the government just because of the stigma that goes with it as you have expressed I'm not criticizing I'm just saying sometimes a bad year you do need help we have been lucky and yes some do exploited but not all of us so not a attack on you but not all of us would go that route

Garrison Keeler called Wyoming, “The Big Empty.”. Yes! We like it that way.🙋🏼♀️💞🏔🌠
Yes wish Texas was like that
As someone who's lived in Wyoming I can say all of this is true, and I don't mean to brag but, we are truly happy here
I once visited Wyoming with a church group. Would love to move there if I could.
Yes, one part of a rural area is that there's a lot of livestock, but you get a serene space with nature's freedoms too, which is beautiful. Bless.

There's quite a few artists in WY, it's a good place to focus on your sculptures.

Some of the water goes to Cal-i-f, so they can flush it into the ocean.
Exactly, keep it that way!

I love Wyoming. I lived in SW Wyoming some years ago. I'm retiring from Anchorage Alaska to Bighorn Valley in 3 years. Can't wait!
A sentence to sum up Wyoming. Hm. I can do it in one word. Beautiful
great interview. WY seems lovely!
I am trying to move to Wyoming by next summer. Like to live in Story or any other small town like that. I am a writer and Wyoming is the place for me.

A big fan of Candy and her work!
Everyone knows that if God owned heaven and Wyoming, he would rent heaven and live in Wyoming.
Everyone who grew up in Wyoming "knows" this. Plain fact is, I hate the high desert, a barren wasteland. I grew up in the east. This has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with personal taste.
I would like to visit.
I LOVE WYOMING
School me : Why I should choose Wyoming instead of Montana or South Dakota? These three states seem the best for me.
Well Montana, SD (and ND and Idaho) are not bad places at all. Wyoming just has less people.
Wyoming is less expensive than Montana. I've also been looking at those states, taking a look at geography, the expenses, the people, the sites, all of it.

How as a Canadian can I open a Trucking business and my wife who's in the Pharmaceutical Industry move to Wyoming?

I would love to visit.
I would love to STAY.

Great place!
IT IS A wunderful state!
Life goals...come on cryptos do your thing! I need some wide open spaces!
Wyoming fits my mentality. I am coming
Wyoming? I thought that part of the country was called West Narnia.
PBS telling me about Wyoming is like Mao telling me about prosperity. I live here I know.
I want to live here
*It's Highly regarded toobz*
What's a Wyoming
If you don't like Wyoming don't come here or move out. It is that simple.
So, PBS if in Wyoming? I'm very sorry about that.
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear Wyoming is Brokeback Mountain.
Lol
