Trip Report | Cape Air Tecnam P2012 | St Louis, MO to Marion, IL

- Welcome to another Cape Air review!!! This time we will be flying to Marion, IL onboard the Tecnam. This video will show what it’s like to fly on these really small unique aircrafts.
Personally I think flying on the Tecnam P2012 Travellers are a lot of fun. They're like the more modern and sleek versions of the Twin Otter prop planes!!!
Do keep in mind that if you were to do these roundtrip flights for fun like did, each destination are required to ask you about the weight of your bags as well as yourself. They do this as a weight and balance procedure when the airplane goes into flight. Smaller airports like Marion, you’d have to go through security again just to get yourself weighed and your carry on if you bring a bag of some sort which includes a backpack! This is if you start off at a larger airport like Nashville or St Louis Lambert.
I hope this video is helpful to you all! If you have any further questions, I’ll be sure to answer them in the comment section or you can go on the Cape Air website for more information!
Enjoy ;)

Cape air is a pretty big-little airline! I live out here in the Cape Cod area, see them zipping over the house almost daily going back and forth from KBOS, KEWB, and KHYA. That little airfield you were asking about is KSAR, Sparta Community Airport-Hunter Field. 4002x75ft paved runway and a 2958x110ft grass field. Was there last summer and picked up a plane with a friend and brought it back to MA. No commercial service but nice little airport.
very smooth flight. love p2012
I love the Tecnam, and Cape Air. But this is bizarre to me. This route can be driven in under 2 hours, what's the point in flying?
Hey, thanks for flying with us! I'm currently at 9K as a cleaner and its nice to see you enjoyed the flight. It's kinda weird watching a trip report when you personally know the gate and ramp agents.
It was my pleasure! I would fly 9K again hopefully on their Cessna 402s before they retire. Did you happen to see me filming that day?
@@willstrainsplanes I did not, unfortunately. The cleaners work in Cape's hangar on the other side of the airport. I saw you met Jerry on the ramp though (the one with the beard).
As for the 402s, we still have plenty around in STL. They won't be here forever, though. All the flights out of STL *say* P212 on 9K's website but in practice departures are usually 50/50. It's leaning more Tecnam these days though. Best place to find a 402 is Boston or the Caribbean on Cape.
@@314jets6 Gotcha!! I appreciate it
@@willstrainsplanes No problem. I have videos of both the 402 and the Tecnam up on my channel.
@@314jets6 Sweet! I’ll check em out
I work at Midwest Aviation at Marion. The tecnams are a pain to refuel but they are a cool little aircraft.
Nice! You’ll probably see me time to time whenever there’s a football charter flight coming in and out of Marion.
@@willstrainsplanes we’ve got Allegiant next weekend coming at 10 something Friday morning from Asheville and leaving at 12:30 I think for San Antonio. We have them 3 other times this year as well so far.
Why are they a pain to refuel? I'd love to know because I might be refueling one soon myself:)
@@license2listen when the tank gets close to full it keeps bubbling up at you and you have to go super slow plus you have to get up on the ladder and it’s just annoying.
@@nicholasmohr1619 Thanks so much! Good to know all that.
Thanks for the fun video! Nice to see the P2012 in flight. Helpful subtitles too. (But why the triple exclamation points after every sentence?) Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Yeah the triple exclamation point part is definitely a me thing. I do it a lot which I know isn’t the most pleasant. Thanks for watching tho
That airport you’re requesting at 7:45 is Sparta, IL.
The airport you asked about is Sparta Community airport, in Sparta, IL of all places!
Nice review man! Kinda cool to think MWA got Allegiant MD80’s for a short while back in the day. Wish they’d come back with their A320’s since it’d be nice for the community.
I appreciate it sir! Allegiant occasionally flies into Marion for SIU football charters. Marion is such a unique airport. United was planning on flying there for a while directly out of ORD but idk what’s going on with that. I do honestly hope the airport grows in the future
That thing at your seat - you had no idea about - above your head is a “gasper.” Turn it counter clockwise and it should blow conditioned air at you.
Great video
Thanks
Airport is KSAR Sparta, IL.
Very affordable
Honestly why do people take flights such as this?
Because they can afford not to drive.
Faster and cheaper than driving long distance and making multiple stops to refuel your car. Infact currently (05/2024) tickets are $39 a piece.
@@G-MONEY1996 i guess that isn't bad. Im an airline pilot who doesn't want to get on a plane outside of work so my thinking probably is rather skewed.
2:18 Really? You have no clue what an air vent is?
