The looks between the two of them speaks for their love. Such a obvious devotion, so much unspoken but we can still see it. Their expressions say it all. A once in a lifetime kind of love story, til death they did part. Wish he would have given Mary his child. Then there would still have been a part of him living on indefinitely. So sad it ends, as it began. God bless you Mary for staying by him. Had to be difficult.
I’m an old woman now. I’ve loved men and women over the years and tried to find “the one” but never managed to do so. Blessed be anyone who has and I wish them well.
I don't think anyone really knew Freddie Mercury !!! He took his secrets with him and we will never know again. He was a genius and an excellent man. His private life belongs only to him. Don't search, because you're running into a dead end! respect him!
It' s so sad, both couldn' t stay together forever. A beautiful couple. No baby with Freddie.... . But they had a deep and loveful friendship. This ist very beautiful, too.

I'm only now going back and watching interviews with/about Freddie. It had to be difficult for Mary to hear but I am glad that Freddie was honest with her and I am also glad that she chose to support him
You know, I think they were soul mates regardless. Sometimes you're bonded to someone in ways other than romantically. I love how they moved past the "romantic" after he came out & continued what was always fated to be a close bond for life.
And in BoRhap the words are "life has just begun and now I've gone and thrown it all away" if using BoRhap to be about his life than he is saying his life was just beginning with Mary and his music making him successful and "now I've gone and thrown it all away". Breaking up with Mary- he had everything he wanted, someone who really loved him for who he was, and a career on the rise, but then he went and threw it all away. Because Mary was a woman. All he had now was his music and he searched and searched for that kind of love but admitted he could only find it with Mary. I hope giving up everything he ever wanted because of sex was worth it. He definately was looking for love in all the wrong places and it cost him his life. He found a "good enough" love with Hutton but not what he had and threw away and not for that many years. Mary was devoted to him until his last breath. She was there when Freddie was no-one, and watched his career take off and his immense success and fulfilling being a legend, and was there until the end. Never turned against him, never turned her back on him and the only one who hasn't betrayed him. She could have written a book or written a movie, but she did neither. She just loved him.
Can’t believe people r still talking about this it’s been 50 yrs. can’t we just enjoy his music no one know what was going on and it’s no body’s business.
Freddie was a great gentleman to telling her the truth,I can swear he never, ever cheated on her as some people want to believe,he was a real man.Period.
Freddie Mercury was a "gentle giant" of music. He gave the yellow jacket he wore for Live Aid, at Wembley Stadium, in 1985 to AIDS charities, he gave £500,000 to Peter Freestone, who was his personal assistant, and his partner, Jim Hutton, £100,000 to Terry Giddings, his driver. His former girlfriend, Mary Austin got his mansion, Garden Lodge, and all royalties from Queen songs, I don't know how much the Balsara family got, after he died, as the information wasn't disclosed, he was a generous man, who taken from us far too soon, on 24th November, 1991, aged just 45. He did get Christmas presents for some of his famous friends. RIP Freddie, Mr and Mrs Bulsara, and Freddie's partner, Jim Hutton. 😥❤
HE gave 50% to Mary and 25% to his parents and 25% to his sister kash. When his parents died their 25% went to Mary, not his sister. Mary helped him, was there all his life, she was the love of his life.
They were more than friends. You can't deny the love he had for her even though he desired men instead of women. They keep trying to trivialize Mary and like they are trying to cut her down, and that bothers me. He left most everything to her. He said himself had things been different she would have been his wife and inherited everything anyway. SO seems to me the "queens" are still jealous they didn't get more from Freddie's estate. Shame on them. They need to man up.
No, O was not referring to the boys!!!! "Queens" reference to gay men. Did not mean to offend gay men, so please, rvrryone, do not assume I am jomophob. If I was, as a steaight woman, I eould not be so head over jeals in lobe wiyh Frrddie. Thank you, tjank you, for asking me first what I neanr! @@terrijones6101, as I said in a previous comment, Freddie loved Brian, Roger, and John as "brothers", but they call didn't each other that, they just respected each other's music. However, it was Paul McCartney, of The Beatles, who called his bandmates his "brothers". When Freddie was dying, their closeness, and loyalty towards Freddie was really genuine, and Freddie, and the boys were like family, in my humble opinion.
Jan Hunt, I think that, Brian, Roger, and John loved Freddie. They didn't cash in, after Freddie's tragic, premature death, from AIDS, on 24th November, 1991, aged just 45. They made an album, which was called Made In Heaven, it was a fitting tribute, to Freddie's music, as he died before some the songs were released. Yes, John may have retired, in 1997. However, to be fair, to Brian, and Roger, they wanted to keep Freddie's memory, genius, legacy, and legend alive. They still perform, as Queen, with American Idol star, Adam Lambert, in my humble opinion.
LyricalXilence, Mary Austin always gets a frosty reception from Jim Hutton, and a lot of Queen fans, I don't know why, myself. She was genuine, but she did get Freddie Mercury's mansion, Garden Lodge, and royalties from Queen's songs. She did choose Freddie Mercury as Godfather to her son, and I thought that was nice of her to do such a thing, in my humble opinion.
LyricalXilence when Freddie died and she got everything she gave Freddie’s partner of 7 years 2 weeks notice to get out of the house and she moved in. She doesn’t live there anymore Mary treated the people the Freddie loved very badly I think that is why some people don’t like her
@@louisaspecialfx4719 we don't know the whole story with that. There may be legal reasons for what was required by the will, etc. That is just Hutton's bitter words on the matter. And he was bitter about more from Freddie's will. But it was Freddie's wishes in written form.
I agree. Jealousy, inaccurate information & people making assumptions without actually being there make Mary look bad. She was with Freddie for 6 years and a loyal friend for 20 something more years. Only she & Freddie really know how important she was to him.
kazabushy, yes he did write Love Of My Life, for Mary Austin, but it was very, very kind of her, to make Freddie Mercury the Godfather of her son, in my humble opinion.
Opps!! Being Official Queen International fanclub member on FB, I was shocked at the nastiness of these so-called fans. I am no longer following fan club on FB because of it. All of you I have interacted in posts, through our mutual love of Queen and Freddie, through UA-cam, have been classier. This chat with this young lady-- younger people do not always have the maturity. Sure, some of you have crossed the line, but "we" call you out on it and either apologies for behaviour or have left us. You should go to FB and read posts, and if you find the "chat" between myself and a not-so-nice fan, you will see why I am so glad you questioned my implications rather than verbally attack, bully and hate as this young lady did. If you feel offended or whatever at a post, the "right" way to handle it is to ask rather than make nasty assumptions. You did, by asking me to explain rather than assume. So, I wanted to cexplain and thank you, to clear this up. Never any reason to pre-judge a post and assume you know what a person meant and then name-call. That is how decent human beings should deal with this issue. People, stop reacting first and then questioning, because it will set up discord among us. And Freddie would be so disheartened to see his fans interact with each other this way. Thank you for that. Good people on YT in our mutual love of the boys. Yes, good people on FB fan club, but not like you all. I was trying to say it seems like the gay men are being deliberately mean-spirited towards Mary when there is no reason for it or because she was a woman. Just because they don't like women is no reason to belittle the genuine love of a man for a woman, even if sex not part of it. Jealousy by gay men, that have been in his life, not all of them, but the ones complaining seems to be nothing more than some ridiculous jealousy. Just mho. Love my YT Queen and Freddie family. You are the best! Jan
Jan Hunt, to be honest, FaceBook lies ALL the time. I don't use it, cos there's lots of fake news, and lots of fake profiles, people say there's a woman claiming to be Freddie Mercury's daughter. I thought he didn't have children, just Godchildren, and UA-cam keeps it real, and how could these so-called fans say these shocking things, about music's greatest showman ?. It's criminal, in my humble opinion.
"There was only one barrier to Freddie's happiness.......his girlfriend". I think they could have used a better combination of words. In my opinion that sounded quite harsh
T Sommers, they should have called Mary Austin, his ex-girlfriend, or former girlfriend, if not, the 1 person he felt he could trust, maybe, his best friend, in my humble opinion.
It's shockingly worded! It can be interpreted as he was not happy. She was a barrier. Pathetic! His private life was his. I wasn't there. Footage shows he was deliriously happy. Queen was a global success. He had fame, money and his loving best girl by his side.
T Sommers I think the barrier to his happiness was his homosexuality. I met a wonderful man once who could only bond emotionally with women, but could not shake the carnal pure lust of sex with a man. He said he never ever felt emotionally bonded to men and he wanted ever so much to find a woman that could accept that. I think Freddy was in the same boat and that who he truly and anmuthentically loved was Mary.
@@kazabushy Even after he met Jim, he himself stated that Mary was his soul mate, the love of his life Just because they stopped having intimate relations, doesn't mean he ever stopped loving her. He gave Jim very little and Mary most all his things, and the right to his royalty's. Mary got the bulk of everything.
Apparently Peter Freestone thinks he knows more about why Freddie wrote Bohemian Rhapsody than Freddie did. Freddie said in an interview the band needed one more song for their album. Freddie had written three he liked equally so he put them together, thus Bohemian Rhapsody was born. Freddie never explained what the song was about as he wanted each listener to interpret it in a way that was meaningful to them saying, Darling, if you see it then it's there." Freddie never actually admitted to being gay and certainly wouldn't have written a song about it as he valued his privacy and felt his sexuality was his own business.
@@MrsBrind-er2gp In an interview Peter said Freddie's c*ck was huge. A betrayal as bad as Jim Hutton discussing his sex life with Freddie. Peter's made a career living off Freddie about things Freddie wanted to keep private. Only Mary at 68 continues to keep Freddie's secrets or we'd know where Freddie is buried. Freddie knew who his truest friend was. Mary.
@@lianel2401 Phoebe's lived off Freddie's ashes for the last 28 years spilling all of Freddie's secrets under the guise of "People are going to make up lies about Freddie so it's my duty to tell the truth."There will always be "fans" out there happy to let him exploit Freddie for a chance to hear all things Freddie and throwing in his ridiculous opinions just to have something to say. How many times can you say in thirty years that Deliah used to piss on the furniture and still have people come around to listen.
Yes, it was up to everyone to see what we get from his songs. But he already knew he was gay when he wrote BoRhap. So, yes, we. Ould see that song as his awareness and how it would affect his life. Especially with the lyric of everyone facing the truth- we faced that truth with his announcement the day he died. Ironic. All songs are up for interpretation, esp with Freddie!!!
@@emmabauer1906 he was into a orgie & cocaine phase but don't go by the BoRap movie Mary was at that party and many other parties there's pictures of her being there on the scene. Many of Freddie's friends knew Mary and where she stood in his life she just couldn't be replaced he said also he had said that he never wanted to do anything to embarrassing to her. Now That's true love!
From the heart, I hope I explained this so you all understand. I am getting notifications like crazy since my first post this morning, so, hopefully, if you were or are upset upset, and now have read all of my posts, you get me and not hate me. Have a blessed day. Jan.
Wow, autocorrect wasn't working! Sorry. No, I was not talking about John, Roger or Brian. The men in Freddie's circle who lived there, who felt the need to tear Mary apart. IF they actually said things about her. Let's say they were putting her down. They wouldn't have talked bad about Mary while Freddie was alive, but had no qualms about ripping in to her after his death. But can ask the same of you Mary haters. Why tear Mary apart when it was Freddie's decision to leave Mary the house and other things? They got plenty from Freddie when Freddie was alive, due to HIS loyalty and generosity. If you think the guys welcomed her into the fold, you are naive. What could be worse to all those guys other than Freddie betraying their little group with a woman, of all things, the "enemy". Imagine what they must have thought about hearing Freddie, a gay man, one of their own, telling them he could never love a man like he loved Mary. Or that if, in his own words in an interview, had things been different they would have been married and everything would have been hers anyway. And everything is heresay anyway, but it makes sense that the guys would be against her than Mary being against the guys. She had nothing to gain by being mean to them. It was her right to ask them to move out. And they knew he was dying so they should have had plans anyway, to make other arrangements. And all the haters forget, she was married when he died, but ended up divorced. She admitted that she had difficulty keeping relationships because of her devotion to Freddie, and that had to be painful to accept. But she was so deeply in love with Freddie, she couldn't live without him, and quite obviously, he felt the same depth of love for her. They could not let go of each other. She had to move everyone out because of all the legalities of her inheritance. She said it took 8 yrs before his estate was settled and you can be sure she didn't have money on her own to care for that house. Unless you have settled an estate, no matter how small, I can imagine what she had to deal with and she wasn't even executor. Just seems like everyone wants to assume the guys were justified in the way they talked about her when all she did was be the recipient of Freddies's love and what would have been had he not been gay. I envy Mary being loved by Freddie, but you can be damned sure, I do not envy the heartache she endured being loved by him and loving him. I know what it is like to love that deeply. And it had to be painful as well as difficult to watch the man you love, and know he feels the same way, but because of his sexuality, she could do nothing else, watch him around Jim or other boyfriends. It is too damned bad we can't hear it from the person. Reading stupid rag magazines you know will make up stories or embellish or leave out info. When I hear them say it in an interview, or written interview by reputable journalist, like David Wigg or Gambacinni then I will believe. But no-one involved would admit to saying anything. Mary had nothing to gain berating Freestone, Straker, Jim, anyone else and I can't see her being willing to betray Freddie in that way. But again, who knows.
Just correction mary was not married when freddie was alive. Her partner left her when she was 7 months pregnant as he cannot compete with freddie for mary's love specially freddie literally kept mary for him when he was sick and didnt let her to be out of his sight. Mary got married after her mourning but still cant live with it so she got divorce after 5 years and upto present still single. That i would say love and devotion to your man
T u aclaración no es necesaria , es con doble intención ,n no nos importa su vida íntima admiramos su talento, su gran voz todo su trabajo y al se humano que fue y lo respetamos.
This clarified to me that Peter doesn't understand the depths of Mary and Freddie's relationship because he came into his life in 79 to work for him. Way after the development, foundation, and bond of them. I believe he was extremely jealous of Mary. Peter wants to believe he is the only one who truly knew Freddie but Mary knows more, loved more and was truly the ONLY one Freddie completely trusted.
I think most of Freddie's gay friends were jealous of Mary because Freddie would always put her first and go to her for advice when making his decisions.
i think anybody of freddie's friend should not day things they thought Freddie feel.. it's freddie's feelings not theirs! how can they fathom what he truly feels for Mary? you are all too assuming!
these people don't seem to understand that bisexuality is a thing. mary saying "no, i think you're gay" doesn't actually make him gay, lol. i mean they even said that he was in love with her… someone who is "a 100%" gay wouldn't fall in love with a woman.
My friend Jeannie was my Mary Austin. I loved her deeply, but I wasn't attracted to her. I'm not tat but I just never saw her thst way. I'm no Freddie Mercury, but I hope she knows how much I miss her.
I wonder why Freddie took David to his house when he was still with Mary and said they weren’t a couple. Surely a bit of a risk that Mary could have got suspicious and a risk that David would realise he and Mary were a couple which he did realise. Seems like Freddie got himself in a sticky situation with some relationships. A lot of lying and cheating going on. Someone could make a good soap opera based on his life.
I think Freddie wanted to tell Mary but needed someone to force his hand and that's what David did. He told Freddie he had to choose and Freddie stupidly chose David, at least in the bedroom department. I agree, Freddie was cheating on Mary with David and leading David to believe that Mary and Freddie merely shared living space.
A lot of successful musicians lead a double life with infidelity on the road and a normal life when they came home. He broke out of sexual barriers. I thinks he loved both.
He was definitely torn. He did like both, and he also did state in his own words that he could never fall in love with a man the same way he did with Mary. He also had a relationship and a deep friendship with an Austrian actress called Barbara Valentin. But Mary was always number one. Who knows what might have happened if she hadn't married and had a child by the time he was ready to settle down
@@johnvandelay5159 I heard that Barbara ... He never had sexual relationship with her. She lied. Freddie never talked to her after she told a magazine they were intimate. One of his old friends posted a long story in one of the UA-cam video.
@@ummiramli6554 PensiveCzar I've also read that Barbara Valentin lied in her interview that they slept together. I don't believe they had sexual relations. She was his fun-loving party partner who hooked him up with drugs and men and also his German translator. Also, I don't think she was invited to his funeral along with Peter Straker. She was BAD news and a terrible influence on Freddie.
@@lianel2401 I read the truth from someone who knew someone or was also one of Freddie's circle of (casual) friends. He typed it in another site in Freddie/Queen's song video from UA-cam. It was a long passage. Thank you for believing.
I think Mary should have made Freddie's house A museum for his millions of fans instead of moving into The house, There's always people outside just to feel close to him, Being able to walk through His house would be Amazing! Just my opinion ❤🎵🎸🎹🌷
I actually disagree because at the end of the day he gave the house to her ,for her and not for the fans. He knew he was not going live long and he made the decision. Given their history maybe this was his way of showing her his love,he wasn't a hands on kinda person. In any case he left everything to her and fans should be content with what she does now because he chose her and we should respect that.
Carol Leonard - Mary asked Freddie to put the house into a Trust but he said he wanted it to be a home for her and her children. Freddie gave 1000% to his fans all the years he performed. No one ever left a Queen concert disappointed. He didn't owe it to us to allow us to trample through his home after his death and let's be honest, many people would just come through out of morbid curiosity wanting to see where Freddie died.
I disagree. Because it's not his wish. If Mary Austin does this so she is cheating on him. She is the truest friends. Freddie Mercury knew that this why he gave her all his secrets.
Freestone dissecting Freddie’s song is a joke. Evans always with the “Mary made the money” to diminish their relationship because his friend didn’t last with Freddie.
Yes, he did, but people want to hate her because he left everything to her, HIS decision, but everyone refuses to admit his part in things like being unfaithful. Not fair. He was wrong in what he did but no-one calls him out on it. He was not perfect like we want to believe. No-one wants to really stop and think about how Mary had to have felt, her heartache, her sacrifice. She wasn't with him for his fame and money or she wouldn't have started dating him. Mary haters are being unobjective because of immaturity. No-one stands up for her. Freddie could not let go of the one person he was in loves with and met all his mental and emotional needs, ony person he felt he could trust. He could not let her go. And I guarantee, you have to have experienced that deep love to understand her staying in his life, watching the man she was in love with, who lost relationships because of her devotion and love for this man, and watch his interaction with gay men. If everyone sat down and listened to her rare interviews, and an excellent written interview you can find online, and be objective. Stop believing a bunch ofjealous bitchy gay men. You know they had to have hated Mary being there all the time, and if they had voiced their feelings about her, Freddie had would have kicked them out of his life in a second. So they waited and the minute he was gone, there they all were, blaming and hating Mary. All she did was stay in Freddie's life because he wanted her there. Freddie made his feelings quite clear. So why hate Mary? You really should be objective and look at what it was like for Mary, loving him that deeply, and Freddie making it quite clear what she meant to him--whether you like it or not. Mary haters should be ashamed to have judged her so quickly after Freddie died, all out jealousy that a woman, off all things, was that important to Freddie. How sad is that. What about her heartache watching the man she loved for alll those years, suffer and die and she could not do anything about it. Where is your humanity. Sorry, but tired of everyone hitting on Mary when she does not deserve it. Maturity would be looking at situations objectively, putting yourself in that person's shoes, with the clear facts. No one has done that with Mary. Her only crime was loving Freddie Mercury and being loved back equally. Come on people, Freddie said in an interview had things been different they would have been married. How then can you hate Mary because he chose to leave everything to her the way it would have been if he had not been gay? Shameful.
Jan Hunt You are so right, I see it how you see it, but no worries Jan, I seen the movies today and it was expressed beautifully with what they had. He really truly loved Mary.
Jan Hunt I'm gay, but I'm not jealous of Mary. Mary was with him for forever and they were perfect. But I don't think we should say "If he was straight". Freddie was Freddie and you can't change Freddie. And literally not all gay men are hating. It's not just us.... 😕
@@cantwinemall1319 Unfortunately, there are some gay men out there that do hate women and they have no trouble showing it, or voicing their attitudes. I had this happen to me at my bank by a gay teller. He was extremely rude. If I had said anything back to him I would have been labeled a homophobic. I saw a while back that a gay man wrote a blog about how some gay men treat women, it was on wordpress.com. Sorry, don't remember the blogger over there. Double standards just keep on keeping on.

Mscrazybeatlesfan, Freddie Mercury was always honest, and he, and I believe that, honesty is always the best policy, in my humble opinion.
About the best thing he did in life was telling her like he did.
yes...that was a gentleman......
He gave 25% of his money to his mother and his sister.
@@leonoramilner7088, thank you, for that piece of information.
HE gave 50% to Mary and 25% to his parents and 25% to his sister kash. When his parents died their 25% went to Mary, not his sister. Mary helped him, was there all his life, she was the love of his life.
@@maryvee61, thank you, for telling me that piece of information.
Jan Hunt if you're talking about Brian, Roger and John, I think you're wrong. They loved him too, they were like family.
To be fair Freddie did like women just as much as men - he was bisexual
They still perform, as Queen, with American Idol star, Adam Lambert, in my humble opinion.
true love!!
Can't stand how people try to trivialize Mary.
I agree. I've had some get downright hateful.

Freddie hated critics analysing his music. I’m not a critic. In my humble opinion I think Love of My Life was written about Mary.
kazabushy, yes he did write Love Of My Life, for Mary Austin, but it was very, very kind of her, to make Freddie Mercury the Godfather of her son, in my humble opinion.

I go by what Freddy says during interviews Not what people who were on the outside looking in
It's shockingly worded!
Debra Duerksen the most true comment I ever seen. I Watched the interview when he said that.
Mary.
@@Delilah361 wow! You think exactly like me. It's so true.
I thought Peter Freestone's analogy of Bohemian Rhapsody was off base too. Your comment is on point. :) Peter/Phoebe is talking out of his butt.
Freddie mercury and Mary Austin I hope future will never be able together :(
Yes, it was up to everyone to see what we get from his songs.
@@janhunt585, Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy is a good interpretation of that, too, in my humble opinion.
It's a great pity they did not marry and have kids.
theHDLify, Freddie Mercury would have made a wonderful dad, but however, he was a wonderful, and generous Godfather, in my humble opinion.
Mary did ask he give her a child.
Freddie didnt want to.
@@ummiramli6554 curious if & when that really happened. Freddie was in an orgy phase & don't think Mary wanted any part of that.
I read somewhere that Mary asked Freddie to give her a child and he said he would rather have another cat.
That i would say love and devotion to your man
This is so perfectly put. Exactly what is behind the Mary demonization.
I agree with you.
Freddie was emotionally attracted to Mary but sexually attracted to men.
no he said himself he had lot of lover men and women
❤
i think anybody of freddie's friend should not day things they thought Freddie feel.. it's freddie's feelings not theirs! how can they fathom what he truly feels for Mary? you are all too assuming!
these people don't seem to understand that bisexuality is a thing. mary saying "no, i think you're gay" doesn't actually make him gay, lol. i mean they even said that he was in love with her… someone who is "a 100%" gay wouldn't fall in love with a woman.

She was BAD news and a terrible influence on Freddie.

I read the truth from someone who knew someone or was also one of Freddie's circle of (casual) friends.
I agree
I second that! It would be so perfect for Garden Lodge to be a Freddie museum. Surely it's a lonely place to live!

Freddie cheated on her.
