She seems so sophisticated, delicate, and kind.. and Freddie was lucky to have her in his life and vice versa. I really understand his and Mary's love. So sweet both of them.
The way Freddie looks at Mary, you can see so much love and respect he has for her. I had the longest crush on a guy who dated a few girls. When he admitted to being gay my crush was gone in an instant and we are best friends for over 30 years now. He has been my rock.
They stayed true friends until the end of freddies life...and their love and care for each other never ended...mary is an amazing woman to never stop caring for freddie...that is why she is freddies first great love.
I think their story was one of many great real true love stories. It shows that one doesn't have to be sexually attractive to another to be able to love each other. They loved each other no matter what.
I hate when some people say love of my life was written for Jim Hutton. It wasn't. He wrote it for Mary Austin. She was really only the Love of his life .
Beautiful words & unconditional love. Such a lovely lady. I feel Freddie was confused from a child about his identity and his parents were not aware of this...he felt he did not fit in with what his parents wanted, especially his dad..possibly feeling under pressure from his dad. He needed emotional support from his parents from childhood and counselling. Possibly the trauma from escaping from his country and trying to fit in with his local area were a contributor. There was unresolved deep hurt from a childhood that he gave himself away to people who did not love him (one reason why he caught AIDS) such a shame as he is the only true legend in British music..a unique artist in every sense..no one will ever match up to him
You can see the beauty he saw in her. Shes so accepting and loving. Why they question why he left her half is ignorant. This was his first great love, his best friend, and the person who loved him for him. No matter his sexual preference she was always his support.
Well also, common sense tell us that since Jim was also HIV positive, Freddie couldn't know what would become of his estate and fortune should Jim fall sick as he did. He knew that Mary (should) live a long, healthy life with his God child and her other children. He did leave Jim land and half a million dollars. Nothing to sneeze at
@@jojox9791 By 1985 he was already telling his journalist friend David Wigg that he'd leave "everything" to Mary when he died. He hadn't a clue then he was going to die so early. @JoJo 70 Freddie left Jim £500k, which is the same amount that he left his chef Joe and personal assistant Peter. Maybe the relationship between Freddie and Jim was not as strong as you thought. Freddie signed his will in September, just two months before his death. Who knows, maybe Freddie and Jim would have already broken up by then if Freddie was not ill and dying. According to Jim, they quarrelled very often and Jim even moved out twice. Anyway, no matter how you try to justify why Freddie split his monetary assets the way he did, it doesn’t change the fact that Freddie chose to leave his ashes with Mary instead of Jim. That’s the most telling sign that Jim still had not earned Freddie’s trust despite staying together for 6 years. And Jim proved that Freddie’s hunch was correct by releasing a tell-all book sharing private intimate details about Freddie, after Freddie’s death.
So true. Honestly I think despite him being gay that he loved Mary with everything that he had. I'm sure that there were times that he wished he could be straight and just be with this woman that he loved so deeply. But it didn't matter at the end of it all because despite his sexuality and inability to be with her in a traditional relationship, they were together in heart and in soul. Which is such a rare thing. I think they had an extraordinary bond. They were soulmates which goes beyond sexuality, attraction and any human bullshit. Its a beautiful thing. How lucky they were to find that.

Back in the seventies it was a death sentence to come out gay. I know people said Freddy was bisexual, both his parents are frowned upon him being gay and tell he died he never really came out to his parents. I think Mary Austin kind of was like a mother to him because when he told her that he like men and she was okay with it he finally felt free. Like somebody accepted it, unlike his real mother. I've seen lots of interviews where they said Mary Austin was like his best friend and mother not so much girlfriend, you just have to look at how the times have changed when 2019 at your gay it's widely accepted, 20, 30 40 years ago no way. So I totally see why he loved this woman so much.
I think he loved her in the way that can't be described... It has to be felt in order to understand his feelings for her. I don't think that it should necessarily mean that people that feel like this are involved romantically... My soul mate is my best friend... And he is a male friend. I don't think that I have ever loved a human being like I love him. He could be right next to me, we don't have to say a word to eachother, and I would feel comfortable. It's like he was always a part of my life. Freddie and Mary were both lucky to have found eachother 💖💖💖

God bless you!! Mary!!!
Anyone would love her!Freddie was truly lucky to have found Mary.He was blessed but it just took 1 mistake.RIP Freddie.Truly a legend!
Freddie considered Mary his common-law-wife. He trusted her implicitly, which is why he left the bulk of his estate, ashes and music royalties to her. At the beginning of their relationship, Mary supported both of them and found Garden Lodge for Freddie.
100%dedication for his love.
