40 Hour MMO thats like pokemon?! Thats already awesome enough but then you explain the battle system which is the whole reason I came to this video because people said some game named TemTem had better battle system than Pokemon and wow I'm sold. Ima try this game out!
I'm hooked
Ever watched a video about a game you didn't really care about... then finished the video thinking "OMG I NEED THIS GAME". Well this is that video for me.
This is such a huge comment for us. Reviewing games is a time-consuming process so to hear our video sparked something within you to play a game we reviewed is amazing. Thank you for the kind words!
Literally me with Slay the Spire.
Same man. I’ve been aware of temtem but I’ve been burned so many times by nexomon and others like it. But I am excited to try this

@@Z0MBIE-x the pass only has cosmetics and the devs have repeatedly said that the price would rise at 1.0 release
For me, the most important part of this game is the balance of every temtem. Almost every single tem is viable for use.
Extremely true. The devs made almost any team composition competitively viable if you learn to play well

I backed this on Kickstarter 2 years ago, and ended up playing maybe 2-3 hours of the game while it was in early access back in Summer of last year. I was pretty excited to get back into it when it launched for real yesterday. After watching this vid, I can't wait to keep going to get to the end game content. This will at the very least fill my needs until the new Pokemon games come out in November. Great review. Thank you.

@@O1OO1O1 Indeed I am. Just to confirm, once the new Pokemon came out I stopped playing Temtem completely lol
@@Nicktrito have you picked it up again? would u still recommend it to me to pick it up? whats ur opinion on the game right now? me and a few friends consider picking it up together, is it worth the investment? would appreciate an answer
@@theoneuologe7969 Hey man, appreciate you reaching out. As it stands right now, I've logged about 160 hours into Temtem. The game is a lot of fun to play with friends - But the back end of the game is really really grindy, like a typical MMO would be. I ended up losing interest in the game and haven't really touched it since, and don't really have plans on going back to it either. In terms of monetary value - For the hours and enjoyment I got out of it, I would say yes, Temtem is worth the price. In terms of longstanding value - That's going to depend on the type of gamer you are. If you are down to commit hundreds of hours to a Pokemon-esque mmo (and I do mean hundreds, the end game content requires a ridiculous amount of grind time), then definitely go for it. If that grind doesn't appeal to you as much and you don't have the time to commit, then I would say probably look for a different game to play. Temtem grinding IMO is not as rewarding for me personally as Diablo grinding, or even pokemon shiny hunting, IV breeding. Like as an example, money becomes very scarce in Temtem as you play through the game. One of the biggest ways to make money is a specific tem that you need to fish for, on certain days of the week and specific times. It's very boring, but its also one of the only ways to make a lot of money - And you ABSOLUTELY need money, because unlike Pokemon you're going to be buying tons of healing items. If I were you, I'd probably youtube a video on end game temtem content and see if any of this appeals to you. You might enjoy it more than I do.
A word of warning for new players, don't get the season pass until you beat the story. You barely get any progress until you unlock the challenges.

I think it's something they are looking into improving from what I'm reading.
@@adam7802 pretty sure in the next update they are giving you season pass experience for going through the story. they are also looking into giving retroactive experience for those that already completed the story.

I'm so excited this game exists! Hopefully it inspires other developers to create pocket monster games like this and makes gamefreak improve pokemon. Competition necessitates evolution.
There are sooo many Pokémon clones out there, but people don't want to get invested in them, because they already are in Pokémon. Coromon, Yokai Watch, Monster Sanctuary, Nexomon and so on. People just want Pokémon, and not an actually good and innovative monster collector game.
@@Serafiniert Coromon is the only good one in that list thats why. There aren't enough quality ones
@@audi.6106 thats a whole cap nexomon series is great
@@Serafiniert
If i recall, most pokemon-clone games fall into the trap where they just end up playing like pokemon (get the monsters with the highest stats and spam the strongest moves for wins), which makes the players think "why don't i just play pokemon instead, which is the same thing but with more?" The TemTem devs REALLY seemed to want to avoid this at all costs by trying to make the combat as un-pokemon-like as possible, which is a good thing because it means that there's actual gameplay reason to play it AND pokemon, rather than just choose one of the same thing.

I will use this video to showoff to friends, what temtem really is. Its so well described, and great put together! I have played the game for like 300 hours, and you just gave me more hype for the game, than I already had

@@LegacyGamingUS Of course! I haven’t seen such a great review for a game ever, and thats for real! Keep these reviews up, they’re on another level!
As a HUGE Pokémon fan, I am SUPER GLAD Temtem is a thing and it's pushing Game Freak to become better. It's hillarious how amazing Temtem looks and how great it is taking in consideration they are just 20 people in the studio, then you have Game Freak, a millionaire studio who never makes their best effort and settles with the minimum one.
I certainly hope Temtem helps Pokemon get better.
pokemon is forced to release their games within a certain time frame. they usually have about 2 years to make a game. compared to other developers that have 3+ years. thats the main issue. game freak isnt lazy doing the bare minimum
5:30 this is so much better than just "this move almost always goes first" like in pokemon games
Great video.
I was initially turned off of TemTem hearing it was a MMO. But I'm happy to hear it had single player story and content. :)
Same!
I still am, tbh. The only point in making this game an MMO is so they can cram it full of microtransactions and shit like season passes.
I'll stick with the old pokemon games.
@@LSB001 Give me a single reason why this is bad? ofc a company wants to make money, money helps the game to grow and gives us more content, so yes they have season passes etc, which give only cosmetic content so its not p2w in any way, and now tell me whats wrong about cosmetics for people who wanna buy them?
@@LSB001 you do realize the season passes are purely cosmetic, right?

Having to spend many hours to earn the many different types of currency or materials to create things im gonna have to make often just takes up waaaay too much time. temtem isnt the only game i want to play. i dont understand why mmo's dont seem to understand that players play other games.

Waited so long for this game to come out of early access, the hype is real!!! Also great job presenting this, clearly can tell you put a ton of effort in, keep it up!
I think it goes to full release in 22 minutes
Pay to win with battle pass, 50 dollar price tag, and IAPs
@@Z0MBIE-x what in the battle pass makes it P2W?
Lol there is nothing P2W in the battle pass. It's all cosmetic. Additionally, if you DO purchase the premium battle pass and complete it, you get enough currency to buy the next one and so on. It's a $50 MMO, not a single player RPG, and like every MMO, it has a cosmetic cash shop to fund development and server costs. You also dont need to buy 2 versions of the same game at $50 a pop to catch every Temtem like another game I've been a fan of since I was a kid.
Same, waited 2 years to be 100% sure it would be a good game and I'm waiting for the download to finish. I don't mind paying 15e extra if it means the game releases fully and if it's a good game. Rather have that than paying 30e for a game that might not have seen the day as a full game or if it took a terrible path.
I don't like battlepasses, but those ones are cosmetic and so it doesn't really matter to me, everything else seems good enough to actually play and start the adventure.
I have literally been getting more and more hyped for this as every minute passed. This is quite literally the pokemon game of our childhood dreams without the i.p
I would say Temtem is worth the time, because it's good all around with neat features, but not the price right now.
The "battlepass drama" and "cosmetic shop drama" has some meaning, the game had a sucessful kickstarter campaign, they had revenue through the entire early acess, got publishing rights with humble bundle which gave them some more revenue, they raised the price on the 1.0 launch with the addition of the deluxe edition while making a multi-plat for Xbox and Switch, while not having any sales this entire time. The Battlepass with exclusive content and a premium currency (with the cosmetic shop) is a huge dissonance with everything, even if they are going after a sustainability it don't make a lot of sense of either cuting content out of the game to put it on the battlepass or hiring new people to make this exclusive content and creating the need to pay more in the long run, and mind you this game is $45, is not cheap if we compare with games like COromon and Monster Sanctuary that are only 19.99 and has online PvP too.
If the game was F2P this would be reasonable, but it's not and the game still has bugs from early acess days to this day, while they also said that they don't have any future plans for new "Tems" or Islands, even after this huge battlepass and cosmetic shop "incentive". If you look at steam people are not review bombing, they are saying what they think is true, this made the community split and be even smaller than already is, making the possibility of growing steadly more and more distant from where I'm looking at.
I follow this game since Kickstarter, played in every alpha, beta, stress test, early acess, everything, and I would not recommend this game that is following the route of many kickstarter games or even good games that try to sabotage itself by making bad decisions and going against the community just for more and more money, I hope they go back off this route and try for other solutions for the game and them I could confidently recommend this game again, for people that said so much about Pokemon they are trying to get as greed as Nintendo.
Just a few corrections here. The battlepass items will rotate into the shop at a later date. You earn plenty of feathers ingame for a lot of cosmetics that rotate their prices. Additionally, buying and completing the battlepass nets you more currency than you spent to buy it, allowing you to infinitely chain future battlepass for free. The challenges you get from free and premium paths award you premium currency that, while pretty small amounts, easily add up over each week. While I understand you points there, it's an MMO and having a sustainable monetary model for the studio to continue producing content is necessary. These are businesses and they need to grow their staff and pay their employees. The game is also cheaper than any Pokemon game out there. With all that in mind, I personally think this uproar against paid cosmetics is ridiculous.
@@LegacyGamingUS As far as they stated in the discord after some players made questions about it, they said that the battlepass items will NOT rotate into the cosmetic shop, the temporary items on the cosmetic shop will rotate and can be back after a while, some players even asked for the battlepass items to get in the cosmetic shop with a different name so the battlepass would be "exclusive" named but still would be avaiable for everyone, to which they still didn't reply.
And yes, buying the battlepass gets you the next one, if you farm all the way until the end that is, and even so you still have to pay at least one time for it, while they are seasonal, so if you lost the first battlepass you will not have it again ever, creating FOMO even more for new players that don't have a lot of time to play, after all this is a casual style game and the battlepass is a heavy grind right now, even if they said that they are adjusting the XP (which we didn't see it yet).
And yes I agree that they need a monetary model for the studio, but I don't think that the P2P model is bad, they don't have a larger server capacity that they have to take care of and most games with a larger server capacity can mantain itself with a model of just the box price, No Man's Sky is one of the examples, which has a larger population and larger server capacity, while having only a box price tied to the game and being a small indie company.
The game is cheaper than any pokemon but more expansive than any Pokemon-like "clone", even if the story length is not longer and most of the "MMO" features are social feed like with the expection of 2 or 3 that are present is some of these clones too, and the only way to buy the Tamer Pass is with their premium currency "Novas", which are not exact the price of the pass, this is a tatic most know for mobile games to get players to spend more and well explained out there, the uproar is not ridiculous in the slightest, but players are so anesthetized with all this common but bad practices of the game industry that they just accept as if there is not other choice or some example of going the other way and being successful, yes they need to pay their employees but I hardly believe that finances is a problem for them right now for at least a year if you compare their sales volumes data from steam and consoles by itself, not including the paid features or even the deluxe editions (that even you had the game you can buy and could be used as a way of supporting the devs that didn't involve making a battlepass, premium currency or cosmetic shop).
And also a important point in my view about the tasks and the weekly challenges is that, like people said in discord and reddit, is that basically saying that players will be required to engage in specific tasks, and cannot truly approach the game as they choose, which is a dissonance with a casual game as a Pokemon-like as this, since this is a persistent feature it will affect players every week until they got that don't make much sense and change the approach.
@@exocitus8731 they stated on steam the items will rotate to shop after 1 year to avoid fomo:
"We've also made some changes to Tamer Pass experience gain and added its content to the Premium Store rotation.
We wanted to re-explain that although the Tamer Pass is focused on the end-game because that's where all the repeatable activities are, it is not locked to it. We want you to feel progression during the campaign as well, and this will help bridge that jump from campaign into endgame:
🔸 We're immediately and as of now doubling the Tamer Pass experience obtained from defeating and capturing wild Tems.
🔸 With the next patch, expected in around a week, we're going to be adding Tamer Pass experience from defeating NPC trainers, so you'll enjoy more progression during the natural course of your campaign. We're also figuring out how to grant this experience retroactively, but we're not sure it'll be a success so stay tuned for updates.
🔸 We are going to be including the content of the Tamer Pass in the rotation of the Premium Store a year after it has run its original course. This means you will still be able to obtain the items if you don't manage to complete your Tamer Pass in time, only it'll have to be a little later. We still want to reward people who conquer the challenge, but want to alleviate any FOMO problem the current system is causing."
@@romerinhojogatinas488 Yeah they changed and I didn't saw until today, on the launch day was like I said (and even they said, which caused FOMO, and there is the huge discussion on discord about it).
Still, all the other points still holds up.
Such a great video. We needed content like this, now that the game is out.
The community will always thank you for this awesome and really accurate review of what Temtem has to offer!
They should pay you to use this video as advertisement. You actually SOLD me on buying this game. I just finished digimon survive so I was looking for a new game to hold me over until pokemon scarlet/violet
While that's flattering, we never take sponsors on reviews or money from developers to play their games. If a good piece of content comes out of our love for the game we end up playing, then so be it :)
TemTem looks cool, though Idk if Internet connection is going to be a problem for me (yup, I live in a country where 4G isn’t a standard yet…)
But Mr. Durva! What about Digimon Survive? Was it a good game? I like Danganronpa and this game really gives me some vibes to it. You think it was worth your time and money?
@@marcoperilla9152 so digimon survive is different from other digimon games, it's a graphic novel heavy style of game. J will say, it takes a long time at the start before you get to the point where you can freely battle but I'm about halfway through and enjoyed the game so far. Wait for a sale though
Okay I just randomly looked this game up from seeing the launch trailer. This game seems and looks fantastic. Even the designs (of everything from the monster capsules (pokeball things) to the monsters you tame) have so much personality. The open world and combat sounds like fantastic fun. There’s actual consequences and thought put into battling. All the post and end game content sounds great as well. Overall this is just fantastic to hear as someone whose completely lost hope in pokemon (with the devs constantly releasing the same thing at higher prices and twice). Plus this is on platforms I actually like. Now I just need the digimon story and world games on Xbox.
Edit: Okay free tem sounds so perfect. Its so meta and initially comedic. Its a feature that makes it feel like an actual dynamic world. Like if there was monster taming and battling in the real world. There would totally be an activist group against them, and most people would totally keep battling and only release for money. And a roguelike dungeon mode is just exactly what I’ve started looking for in literally every RPG as infinite post/endgame content
My boyfriend put it perfectly; this game gives you the exact same feeling you got when playing Pokemon for the first time.
It feels so right. My favourite game of all time.
I have to say it almost brings tears to my eyes at just how well made this game is. A game made by people who truly understood what made the Pokémon games so great and truly want to make their playerbase happy rather than tryna make a quick buck from a cheap knockoff. Try brought back so many beloved aspects and removed some of the cheaper strategies without making the game a drag. This game stands out above the rest amongst the monster catcher games next to the likes of top notch Pokémon games and the coop aspect just makes it so much better. I cannot wait to play through the entire story and all the side quests with my gf and really dive deep into the game. Well done Crema, you guys killed it with this! I literally get butterflies in my stomach with this game as I just remember some of my fondest memories playing Pokémon in my Nintendo ds many years ago
I didn't even know tem tem was getting updates I thought it was dead it looks way better now than its original release
Probably because there was no "original Release" and instead early access.
I only have about 144 hours in Temtem and I have not completed the story yet, but I 100% agree. Fantastic game.
How does it compare to Pokemon Sword and Shield
@@Dreamcardriving The world feels a lot bigger, the experiencie of exploration is very different, here you have to addapt to the place you are, using different tools to move, not juts a bycicle. Also the route combats are very hard, they're not there to make your team train, they're there to STOP you. Combats feel very different since it's always a 2v2, you have to be very careful about enemies since you now have to take of 8 different attacks instead of the usual 4, so yeah, sometimes you just cant swap your pokémon to hit a water one with an Electric one, because then youd die. I have only played 40 hours but I always felt like I was underlevelled, like my time could be a lot better and I just wasnt doing enough. I like the bad guys of this game, they actually feel like a threat not just beat-me guys. Going back to the world, it feels alive, NPCs are actually interesting to talk to, there are even characters whose interaction in one moment affects what you can do with them in the future. (I became an actor in a movie because I made a side quest for an NPC who is an actress).
All I can say is, if you like Pokémon, and can afford this game. Just buy it, you won't be dissapointed. I'm in fact going to delete my saved data to start from the beginning because I just wanna see what I missed.

eh, as a hardcore Pokémon fan I tried to get into Temtem like 3 or 4 times but enjoyment always fell off, I can't even perfectly explain why but it just didn't deliver personally
Endgame imo is a boring solo slog.
I played coop the whole way through with our own teams. Beat the game, get to endgame and now there is no coop endgame and you only get to use your own team for (rough guess) 1/5 of the endgame activities. What was the point of raising tem if we don't use them in endgame?
PvP has a huge learning curve which turns to just swapping tems over and over and no real battling, which is just the way these games are played I guess. It's boring and unrewarding.
Dojo rematches are not worth the time every week. You get 8k a battle if you're good. But there's no real motivating reason to accumulate money since you don't use your own team in endgame.
Breeding is a cool thought but why waste hours trying to breed a perfect tem when I could save hours and just buy what I want on the market? Why waste hours when, again, you don't really use your own team in endgame.
The postal service is an easy daily activity and if rng is on your side you can get FEW good rewards.
The koish fishing is a joke. Trying to catch a perfect koish could take anywhere from 10 minutes to 7 days depending on how generous the game wants to be. Oh but don't worry, every 1000th koish you find, you'll get a perfect one. Awesome.. thanks.
The lairs are sort of a joke. Let's have 5 people get together to raid but non of them affect each other in a positive manner. The other 4 players can only bring you down by spending your resources. There's no coop in a 5 player activity. Who's idea was this? Oh and of course you don't use your own tems. You get random ones. Cool. Let's leave endgame up to rng for everything.
The endgame needs reworked. It's not coop friendly when the whole game up to this point was fully coop. It's just a giant wall you hit and realize there's nothing worth doing anymore. Especially when the person you've been playing with is no longer allowed to play with you.
This is a solo players game. The whole game leads you on to think what you are doing is worth your time until you get slapped with the reality of the solo endgame where all your tem are useless.
But the devs pulled some greedy shenanigans so it's a no-buy from me.
What happened?
Fantastic review from someone who really plays the game. I saw that scooter mount. I hope you'll cover the Showdown update whenever it lands! We need eyes on that
I'm on vacation right after this update dropped, so I hope to get some guides out for the Endgame island when I get back as well
This looks really good, my only issue is I don't like how the monsters themselves look, which is kinda an issue cause it's the biggest appeal of a monster catcher.
Idk if it's the art style or what, but very few of the monsters look appealing to me, as opposed to a game like pokemon where 80% of them look at least pretty decent.
Yeah that's the complaint a subset of players have with the game. I personally love their designs/ art style and it actually feels like R/B or S/G generation of Pokemon for me.
@@LegacyGamingUS I do like the art style, for me though, most of them look like something a pokemon fangirl on famfiction would make. Maybe it's the eyes, they give me a my little pony vibe. I'm definitely still gonna play it, because other than that it looks like a dream come true in terms of mechanics, but I really hope the few temtem I like aren't hard to get.
I thought that too in early game, but I found some that I thought were great further into the game
@@rocketman63397 yeah i felt the same way too when i played years back. but the later temtem are more edgy. But early game temtem look like oldschool fakemon. where they are too shiny and round
only down side i have seen for now is on the shop ingame : the mount cost way to much for cosmetic, the personnal shop that change each day is expensive and only have 1 feather item and no wait to found those item if you haden t enought currency when you had acces to them. but maybe crema will modify some of that :)
this game is what pokemon should have been outside of the 3DS...if gamefreak actually gave a fuck about improving.
Temtem does everything a new pokemon game should have done.
@@Hychra what doesnt mean pokemon did well these times
@@Hychra a lot of stories wouldn't exist without mental disorders, doesn't mean they're good.
Temtem should be the next Pokemon. Ik a lot of MMO FPS streamers love palworld for them and ads new ideas. I hope palworld wins the lawsuit for them and others to allow more games like this to become a gaming genre. Instead of a gatekeeping company pattent " it's mine and you can't have it " excuse that nintendo does.
TO BE FAIR, the lawsuit is targeting Sony instead of the game’s devs. Nintendo wants Sony to have to divest from their anime and music videos which they’ve been paying lots for
You spoke a lot about what the game is like as an MMO, but as a single player, is it worth it? I couldn't care less about online battles, or perfect IV/EV/stats, or co-op. So is it still worthwhile if you remove all the multiplayer aspects?
It seems like you can play it without others but the game is always online so remember that.
Yeah I've enjoyed playing through the storyline/quests and battling the npcs, I've not really got involved with the community yet and have had a blast
You can play through the game just like any single-player Pokemon title, but it is always online as you'll see players all throughout the world.
It's always online, so when the devs turn off the servers eventually due to lack of playerbase, you will no longer own the game.
@@BadgerIceify That's a fair point but let's say the servers are online for years, you didn't want to use that time to actually complete the game? Lol
They should make an offline mode though.
Wow, I can't believe I haven't heard of this before... I cannot wait to play this. I'm buying two copies and giving one to a friend! Woo!
I have one issues with this game, game looks like a iOS or Android game, thats not the issue. It just that the game is too expensive on steam. I put it on wish list and buy it when it's 70% off.
I mean it's the same base price as a Pokemon title. That's pretty fair imo. That being said, always do what is best for your budget.
Best surprise i had .... 5 of my friend was playing , finally got it and its really fun , did not have fun like that on a Pokemon game in the last 10 years.
Dont be a coward , just try it.
I would have paid full price for THAT game honestly but will not complaint about the fact its less expensive.
This game is insane exaxtly what i was looking for

Temtem literally looks like the Pokémon game I wish Pokémon was.
The question i have, and i bet others have too, is how multiplayer it is.
It seems to be one of those "always connected DRM" situations, but besides that is there any forced online?
Is the game super short, relying on multiplayer for playtime?
Can you reach the endgame without interacting with other players?
Are there trade evolutions, or exclusives where you only get one? Can you obtain the other starters later?
- It's an MMO, you will see players all around you playing making it always online
- there are some trade evolutions
- all starters can be caught in the wild
- the campaign is easily 45-50 hours alone
- you can play start to finish without having to play with another player for anything besides raid lairs
Sounds like a script straight from the devs mouth
Sounds like a comment that is reaching as usual. Feel free to not engage with our content if that's your view.
Because I dont have issues with the game lol. The battling was engaging and not a stomp fest. The story was enjoyable. The visuals right up my alley. The monster design fantastic. Plus it's an MMO and has a good loop for an endgame grind. You forget the whole subjective part of all reviews which is why we always say watch multiple to figure out where you stand. For me, there is very little, if anything, wrong with this game and a lot of the recent complaints I see are battles being hard and cash shop cosmetics being some sort of massive sin when every other MMO out there does them but with P2W elements as well. I'm not going to jump on some dumb bandwagon boycott over extra cosmetics and a team stretched to their limits development wise just to play for sympathy views. I review the game as is and I think a lot of the complaints other than there being no "skip animation button" are full of it and are too used to how easy mode Pokemon is.
From an outsider whos never played this it really looks like they've thought of everything, from engaging gameplay to breeding to shiny hunting etc
My boyfriend bought this game for me, and I’m currently addicted
Your temtem guideds are what made me start following the channel. Still the best ones I've seen sofar
Gosh this game seems amazing. I wish I could be unemployed and commit my life to this game.❤️
As a Sombra main, that hack buff was the best news I'd heard in a good minute.
It released on Switch and I wonder how this MMO will held up on the console. Quite expensive at the moment and with 4-5 giant releases that I'm going to buy within next 1-1,5 month I'll hold off till some sale.
I had it during early access on Steam, but wanted to get it on console when crossplay came out with 1.0. I went for switch for portability and it so far is handling it great. Of course being a switch when I do dock it it looks a tiny bit rough, but that's it really. Besides one initial hiccup with the servers which affected every platform this evening (which was quickly solved) which isn't surprising on launch day, no issues since and Devs are working hard to fix issues some people may be having. Largely issues seem to be with Xbox at the moment with a lot of people saying they're missing items or button prompts.
I can say so far there is no disadvantage on switch - the story is the same, the systems and everything are fine, and you still see other people going about things fine on the overworld as usual even on other platforms.
I'm not sure what your chances are for a sale though, as as far as I'm aware it's never been on sale in the two years it's been available.
@@weewoo8108 Thanks for Switch update! I'm in no rush to wait as I have so much stuff coming out soon on Switch to play (DioField Chronicles, Trails from Zero, Bayonetta 3, Persona 5R, NieR).
Could you tell me if Temtem is fully required to have online connection to play? I know it's an MMO but I figured if someone would want to they can do single player story offline (i.e. if you're playing while travelling). Someone mentioned that you can't play while not being connected to the internet.
@@Caffrey90 It does, it's online only mate.
@@weewoo8108 So there's cross play too if you see others from other platforms running around? Does it cross save as well?
@@Caffrey90 It is fully online, if I'm ever out with my switch say traveling and want to play it I plan to either mobile hotspot or use public WiFi depending on if I get a train from this century or not (woo bad rail system).
Always being online though it means you always pick up exactly from where you left off, even in the middle of battles, which is good because if you were to ever come across say a Luma (shiny) and the game crashed or you had to leave suddenly, the battle and the luma is still waiting for you when you get back and you won't have lost the encounter. It also means that hacked tems can't flood the economy or mess with things in other ways - hacked/genned Pokémon are super common these days because it's really easy to fuck with a game offline.
It's fully cross platform between all platforms, so you can see, interact with, play with, talk to and trade with everyone no matter the platform. The cross saves are working great, my main platform is steam and my secondary is switch, any progress I make on either is available to both platforms no issue, even hours after launch I didn't have an issue linking my switch and loading up my ~300hr account on it.
Im glad theres an alternative for Pokemon, so many people have complaints over simple things that it's hard to enjoy upcoming games. Not every Pokemon game SHOULD BE FOR EVERYONE. Not every fan should enjoy EVERY GAME. The main problem with the community are the people who recently play Pokemon and expect games to be fleshed out in 3 months and should have Monster Hunter Wolrd graphics. Its sad to see that the critiques have only come from the 5% of older fans, while their main player base are underage. Let the franchise cater to their demographic and grow up, give the next generation a childhood they can look back on.
This game is both nostalgic and new at the same time.
Exactly how I felt
4:15 you're speaking my language and now I want temtem even more lol
I was a little skeptical seeing the 45 euro price tag but you have singlehandedly removed every trace of doubt I had. I'm getting it! Thank you so much for the video
TemTem is literally a "BUT WAIT, THERES MORE!"
I remember reading that they might not support the game post launch (I'm probably wrong) but do you think they will support it long term with expansions?
there’s already some planned content post 1.0 that’s been confirmed:
- nuzlocke mode
- arcade bar (mini games)
- temtem showdown and comp v2
- another raid
- more qol stuff + seasonal updates
if you mean like story islands then yeah that’s unlikely atleast for now.
As the other reply said, there is still planned content, but they arent commiting to anything else in the future. If there is more widespread support, that may change.
Dear god I remember this on Kickstarter, didn't realise just how much content there is now...
I just find the "difficulty" in this game a bit too grindy. It takes your poor starter to lvl 34(!) to evolve, that means that the first 2 arenas you will have to battle them with an equivalent of a poor weak little Charmander. On top of that the common npcs are strong enough so that after battling 2 of them you have to go aaalll the way back to heal your temtem... every, single, time.
The progression curve is just not enjoyable for me :/
Make sure to use your temessence phial charge. It recharges everytime you head to one of those stations. Additionally, brute forcing with a starter doesnt work in this game. Type matchups and swapping temtem out mid fight is how you win, so capturing and training a diverse roster is highly recommended.
Same happened to me. It makes me get burnout after fighting a few npcs.
@@azazel673 are you charging your temessence phial up? throughout my entire story play, i wasn't ever really forced to go back after a few fights. you gotta make sure to have a diverse roster as well.
It seems to heavily promote using items more, adding value to other resources (especially the phial).
I watched videos about this game back when they were barely developing it and then forgot about it till just now. And then went and immediately downloaded it. I am excited to be playing the first gen of a worthy rival to Pokémon. One where my learning curve is similar to others. Not that I won't still play Pokémon, but with so many monsters that some players know inside and out; and me having to acquaint myself with each one with Pokémon Go being my starting point -> it was a daunting task. This game lets me start at square one.
It'll never compete with Pokemon, a single player game with some Online elements, without being a single player game itself, sadly. It barely touches the same market. Which sucks, as I really wanted a competitor.
Might be but I will never know because of the outrageous price tag for a game that cant even hold 1k people on average. also adding Battlepasses to a game i have to pay 45$ for. all the money nonsense drives me away instantly..
I've been playing this game since last week, and it is so good! It is different enough and I find it a legitimate, but fun, challenge! Would highly recommend!
I would love to have the return of Spectrobes on the Switch.
Totally Agree on this.. We need a new Spectrobes Game PLS!
Ironically a pokemon ad played in the middle of this video lol
Hilarious
crazy how much new content they already brought!
Bought it right after I watched. Was on sale and went halves on it with a buddy. CANNOT wait ! Great video 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
This is the best review of Temtem I’ve found. Good job!
Glad you liked it!
This is so bright and colorful that it is burning my retinas!
This is so comprehensive, I love it
Started playing when it came out on Xbox and I LOVE it, everything feels so full and nothing ever really feels like it's there for no reason. There are bugs but none that have completely ruined my fun
hopefully can beat pokemon scarlet/violet at later on muhehe..In my opinion, i feel Temtem better than pokemon because battle gameplay more intense, got character customization, got housing and breeding like digimon..
I've said for a long time, having been an avid pokemon fan since I was a kid, that Temtem just does everything better imo. For some reason though, there has been an avid Pokemon base slamming this game whenever they get any sort of ammo and I cant understand why more games cant just coexist in a genre.
@@LegacyGamingUS yeah same opinion as you, temtem got everything hehe include Digimon style like breeding..well maybe imo because they cant accept the facts that other game copy pokemon and digimon i suppose
Dang, didn't address the negative stuff in the Steam reviews. How prevalent are the random bans still? Why is there a dang cash shop in a fully priced game?
The random bans were not random. People were exploiting unreleased areas and engaging in trying to also sell things for real money. Additionally, if you are toxic/vulgar in chat or your name is offensive, its monitored and you can be banned.
In terms of the cosmetic shop, it's an MMO. Every single one has one. Additionally if you end up buying the battlepass and completing it, you get 1000 of the total currency so you can buy subsequent ones for free. There are also tons of sources to earn premium currency ingame as well.
@@LegacyGamingUS Ok, thanks for addressing that.
My only complaint is that each area is heavily themed for 1 temtem type. This leaves you primarily fighting and catching temtem of the same type per area until you move onto the next, and also limits access to certain types you can find until later in the game. Basically I wish areas had more temtem type variation
While this is partially true, a lot of those initial monotypes evolve to become dual types and sometimes even have diverse non-stab moves available to them for further type coverage. The issue is you want to be breeding to get a base species at level 1 so you can hit one or both evolutions at timing in line with your story progression
I love Pokémon but I don’t own a switch and just bought a series x so I think I’m definitely going to check this out!
Here's the thing and I do not get at all why this direction was taken, why did you not bring up one of the biggest criticisms.. the one thing that needs to matter this game fails at, evoloutions are far to samey to the previous, why should anyone care about evolving it when the bloody desighn barley changes when it evolves, I understand making it look like it does evolve and I like the idea of catching different ones and all mechanics sound great, but why do the desighns evoloutions feel like... That's it... That's the Evoloution.. more blank... It's just completley unappealing to a large chunk of the main reason people like monster taming games.. seeing the cool evoloutions... Why did you leave out this glaring flaw I understand if you don't see it as a flaw personally but it feels like you are misleading people by ignoring its biggest criticisms which could have been changed
Because it's not a criticism of mine and basically everyone I've personally experienced the game with. You are criticizing a review based on a personal design disagreement. That's the subjective part of the review.
@@LegacyGamingUS it isn't subjective that the biggest criticisms most people have with any desighn fake or real is when not enough has changed, that's dogding and misleading at that point, I understand veiws but you have to take the good with what can be improved, your comment was handled poorly when you can't take valid criticism many more of the majority actually do not like and this has been known for years
You do realize criticizing game systems and core mechanics is the area to be hyper critical in a review, and those things can be quantified and compared. Visuals, as a designer myself, are subjective. It doesnt matter to me if there is a group of players who dont like the designs. I do like them and my review reflects that accordingly. That's not dodging criticism lol
@@LegacyGamingUS I get what you mean but why do people play a fighting game, why do people play any game, I understand your points and even agree with yours for the ones you made, but in a monster taming game the main mechanic of the game, evolving the monsters, needs to also not make a majority of players say why should I put in the time, you have to really want to evolve it and that's a big cretique you can't just ignore outright, that's not excepting cretique and it's not just a small thing, the systems may be great but the desighns are not a productive choice, they chose to have them barley change or were far to settle with making the player want to like the Evoloution and it is going to directly effect the percentage of their player base, for a game with such tight mechanics the desighns themself being where it falls is honestly sad because of how much mechanically it does great, you can say it's subjective as a cop out all you like but the player not wanting to play the game because it's not satisfying to put in the time when the creature barley changes is not a subjective cretique, it is a bad game desighn decision, when you say it does not matter because as a player you like the desighns you are saying that they in your eyes could not be sagnifigantly improved and I think you are lying because if you played the same game with the same mechanics but it did strike the fire on the aspect I am talking about, you would like that game more then this one, if you are saying this still isn't true then I'd like you to consider this, I do have a certain bias towards the quantity of the type of desighns I like, mainly bad ass looking dragons or the right balance of cute beasts, I am throwing my bias out of the window because when you are judging you have to judge by the majority because that is what the players over all want, not just what I think which is why you saying it doesn't matter because it's your subjective taste is almost blairantly disrespectful, every players veiw matters in a game for everyone & I'm going to go out on a limb here with a statement imo, gen one is not the best generation over all and alot of people push there bias that it is, currently I honestly think sun and moon has the best over all desighns and region and I honestly think scarlet and violet will surpass it. If you do not care about each stage, do not leave them out when compared and just say *I don't care so long as cute or I don't care so long as the final stage is great, for something to get top marks it has to succeed in all aspects and saying that doesn't matter is an insult.
Again, art and design is entirely subjective. I'm a professional motion and graphic designer. It does not matter what a minority or a majority likes visually. That area is and always will be entirely subjective. It doesnt matter how you feel about it or take that. It's not glossing over anything. It is our review, and we happen to like the designs and art style. You are welcome to disagree, but you cant call an art/design opinion wrong lol. That's just not how it works. Game design does not equate to visual design. They are entirely different.
I knew this game was coming but had no idea it was already out. Bought it immediately. Thanks for the informative video. They need to do some advertising.
I havn't played Pokemon for 20+ years yet it doesn't take me long to realize that Pokemon Gold/Silver were much better than Temtem when it comes to battling.
Todays Pokemon games are probably even more competitive. So big fail on Temtems part.
I disagree that Pokemon ever had a better battling system. All you do is spam your strongest attacks. There is also RNG in the form of having a chance to miss, 1HKOs, and random criticals. That removes so much skill and knowledge from battling. I've been a fan of Pokemon for 20+ years myself and I cant agree with you at all on that. I'd take this system in Temtem any day.
great video, I was on the fence and this video pushed me to grab it up finally.
I bought this game. Then instantly refunded it. Saw the bans and didn't want to be ripped off
was gonna get it cuz it was on sale, instantly noped after seeing the reviews
What do you mean bans ? Like they are banning people from the game ? Or do you not like the banning of temtems in matches
@@powder8414 reviews on steam that ban your account randomly
very naice was told by friend to check out game, wasnt really interested till i watched this. its like the pokemon game i always wanted and never thought would exist
It only has around 5k players online at the moment and it's launch day. I wish the barrier to entry was lower, so it had the possibility to become more popular and last longer. Not sure I want to dedicate time into a game that might not have servers online in a few months.
You want it to be free?
Man... the devs are more like indy game developer than big corpo, and the game wasn't overhyped like New World or lost ARK. On release New World had 500k+ players and now it is 12-20k xD Just look how many players PokeMMO has and it is only NDS port. CREMA survived years in development and will survive next years for sure.
@@sirmel11 A huge chunk of MMOs are free, fortnite is free, why can't this game be free? They have a battle pass and cash shop.
@@BadgerIceify Look at how many players Fortnite has.
These guys need to make money. A battle pass is optional and there's 0 reason to complain about it. Lol. It's all clothing and people still have an issue. Make it make sense.
@@sirmel11 While this is true, they also had a Kickstarter (which Fortnite didn't have), were selling in early acess, raised the price for the 1.0 launch, had a publishing deal with Humble Bundle and launched in Xbox and Switch after the price raise and with a deluxe edition, there is a lot of reasons to complain about the Battle pass and the cosmetic shop, these guys already have money, this is the most expensive "Pokemon-like" game out there and one of the most successful while having a need for a low server capacity (5 to 10k player is relatively low in terms of server capacity), "clothing" and aesthetics is a really big part of every MMO and there is always huge discussions with questions about cosmetic shops.
And while all that I said already, they didn't even have plans of future releases on Tem of new Islands, so you are paying for paying right now not for keeping the game alive.
I watched this video on Thursday and bought the game right after. It was on discount in PS Store. I’ve been hooked on this game since.
after 20 hours of playing i saw the monster list and was very disappointed. This game just has no nostalgia, which makes it very hard to deal with the story mode.
Great review! When I first heard ur voice I thought you were Seth Green! Ha
First time I've heard that one lol
Great video but im still kinda on the fence on this one. I still have ptsd from a full price indie games (biomutant) that I was hyped to play ending up in tragedy. Also, looking at the steam review of the game (has mixed review at the time of this comment), turn my hype down from this video by a whole lot. A full price game with a paid battle pass and mtx.
It's just people being annoyed there is a battlepass and paid cosmetics, in an MMO, which almost EVERY MMO has lol. They announced and showed their decision to have this store in the game months ago. Really dont understand why optional cosmetics annoy people.
@@LegacyGamingUS I find that lots of players unfamiliar with traditional MMOs tend to share this complaint. My main MMO is FFXIV and the shop is regularly updated with glam cosmetics- fans actually make noise trying to get the devs to add certain pieces LOL
It's not a loot box, it's not p2w- it's aesthetics. With high customization being such a staple for MMOs, they'd be stupid not to tap into that market.
The game is a MMO-ish, has social feed features but nothing huge to be comparable at FFXIV, their players population is 10k at the best for now which should be a lot cheaper than a 1m player base like FFXIV, WoW and even GW2 or ESO. No MMO has a battlepass, and yes they have cosmetic shops but they are always a huge point of controversy, but they are hold by being a AAA MMO with huge server capacity, while Temtem is a Indie with a small server capacity.
And even for FFXIV, Yoshi-P always said that if was for him the game would not have the cosmetic shop, the game by itself with the expansions can paid for itself and the servers, GW2 has cosmetic shop but is F2P with paid expansions (which Temtem could go for), and WoW is dying and one of the reasons was said cosmetic shops being the last drop for most players.
Aesthetics is also a part of a MMO experience, they probably didn't need to go to this route but wanted to is just reasonable that they get backslash for that and the game gets bad reviews for people that dislike this new "accepted" way of thinking, which would not happen if the playerbase was against it, No Man's Sky has probably larger server capacity than Temtem and they don't have any of this "features", same for a lot of indies out there with MMO-ish features or persistent online server.
@@exocitus8731 Fair enough, honestly. I work alongside this industry at times and at this point I look at cash shop features in defeat. I can avoid the temptation of glamors no problem, but it sucks when there's a battle pass system to deal with as well.
I tend to steer away from titles that offer this-a shame because a lot of them are beautifully done, but it's just so predatory now.
Hilariously enough FFXIV makes the bulk of its mog station (cash shop) revenue from Fantasia potions, which offer the ability for players to change races. So at the end of the day, not even the clothing. Personally I'm fine with that, though a huge point of contention amongst the players are the $25+ mounts.
After the fiasco of No Man Sky's launch, I don't think they'll go out of their way to do anything incendiary like that to their own game. I remember how bad the initial outrage was lol
I say all of this to point out that while none of these features being showcased surprise me, I'm not particularly onboard with them myself. If I do get the game, I won't be getting the battlepass.
Here's to hoping the Temtem devs will actually listen to feedback from their player base. The trailer makes it look like it could be loads of fun, especially the ability to duo the story. Haven't seen that before.
What do you think of the game then, out of curiosity? Will you or have you bought it?
@@themilktrader2963 I support this game since Kickstarter, I even made a comment myself on this video how I view this as a "worth of your time game" but not "worth of your money" because of all these changes in their monetary model (where there I talk in more details how it problably don't even need this battlepass or premium currency to keep the servers alive), you can read it to get a little more info if you are thinking about buying the game.
That's why even that I would not recommend the game right now, it's not by the game itself but because we don't know how the dev team will go about their future, people are diminishing this whole drama as a "bomb review" so the devs are not taking too much heat, but they forget that even after everything they don't have any plans about the future of the games, they said that they don't have plans for new Tems in the future or new islands, even if they now have a way of being sustainable like they said with the battlepass and premium currency, I feel very odd about how they choose to do that while not being transparent with their finances, servers costs and things like that.
Top all that with bugs since early EA days until now and you kinda get the hunch to hold on a little longer, even more because there is games like Coromon or Monster Sanctuary out there for only $19.99 that can get your "Pokemon-like but better" desire to be satisfied.
Nice! This will cure my Palworld jones.
Okay, you have convinced me! Gonna get this now lol
Any idea if this kind of game can be in discount in play station store? When was the last time when it was? Do you know smth about?
Another really good pokemon esk game is called Nexomon. Really good story and interesting combat mechanic. Also can be easy or extremely hard, depending on the difficulty you select.
3:15 lol there is a GIT GUD, niiiice
This game is so expensive. Gonna wait till it dies off and goes free to play in a few months.
Its literally priced the same as a pokemon title with more content, but you do you
@@LegacyGamingUS Pokemon games are pretty much guaranteed to be at least decent if not exceptional as many have been. There's far too many f2p games out there to pay for an MMO these days.
@@BadgerIceify I'll hold my tongue for those last few titles then lol
@@LegacyGamingUS It costs less than a Pokemon game.
Also, I'd say Sword and Shield was a good game but had a lot of issues. People overly hate it. Arcues was great, I really enjoyed it. Sun and Moon had a good story.
You forget it is actually cheaper than any pokemon game because with Pokemon's model, you need both versions of the game to actually catch/evolve everything, something I've always despised about the games since I was a kid.

Well the Game is Not worth it If you get banned and you dont why.
I was on my Playthrough trying to Finish the Story, while playing i got kicked out the Game. I tried to restart the Game and got a Message that i have been permanently banned for Cheating.
Like i Said i was on my first Playthrough on PS5 Console now my Question. How am I able to Cheat on a Console. I was Just trying to explore the world and finishing the Story how is that a reason to perma Ban a Player who bought the Game at full prize? Sorry but i am Just frustrated about this and the funny Thing is I messaged the Support and they wont Tell me either what i have done. The only Thing they Said was "you cant apply to our final decision".
If someone got the Same Problem feel free to comment.
I got this game when it was new in early access. As a casual who rarely spends more than 30 hours in a game, I was fed up with Pokemon and hoped Temtem would put Gamefreak in their place. I was having a blast with Temtem up until the end of the starter location/island. Unfortunately, Temtem's mechanics seemed more elaborate than Pokemon. I'm glad to see it seems like it's possible to avoid at least some of the breeding BS with the auction house. It also dampened my view of Temtem when I saw it was injected with MMO elements/trappings like raids/passes. The Temtem endgame seems absolutely miserable to a casual like me
Although this sounds like a lot of negative, this video helps alleviate some of the concerns I had with Temtem and seeing as I already own it on Steam, I might as well give it another go. The game is immensely beautiful and the co-op is something I'd like to try even though I'd have to buy a copy for my friends
Wow had no idea this had so much content. Wish I had time to play...
Temtem beats out Pokemon at every facet...beyond branding, of course...
Great review. Very comprehensive!
Much appreciated!
Some of the creature and character designs are unappealing to me sadly though I hope it has continuous success though. We need more monster catchers!
A world where quality monster catchers are common is a true dream
Do you need online multiplayer for the game? Or is there an offline story mode as well?
