Hi, Thank you for your videos. I am a ceramic artist and have been working with clay since the early 80's. Just a heads up. Clay DOSE dry and stiffen fairly quickly when out of the bag. Especially on a warm day in the sun. There WILL be a Big difference in expansion and destruction of the clay blocks if the clay is left out even or a ew minutes. I just wanted you to know so your readings and outcomes ate accurate.
I had a hard time deciding which one was best. I really was pleased with your choices of ammo in the 22-250, those are both of my favorite rounds. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next video
I shoot a 204 Browning A-Bolt ll 26” barrel and my most consistent accuracy is with the Hornady VMax 40g. Interesting seeing your data on actual vs stated velocities. Excellent comparison to another great car
I like your no nonsense comparison video. Everything was first class until the last comparison where it seemes you changed the type of clay block. While the others used a brownish clay block, the last one used a much more white clay. Obviously, the change in consistency, also changes the results of the impact. However, that said, I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of any of them. Would be interesting to put the .220 Swift up against these worthy opponents.
Great video! To the point, demonstrative, no unnecessary fluff. Savage offers the 110 Varmint in 204 and 22-250 and I couldn't decide which. Your video shows the 204 is perfectly capable even though it uses 10-14gr less powder. The 22-250 seems overkill unless you're really stretching distance or going for bigger predators.
Thank you Mr Adams for your compliment and enthusiasm about the video. Much appreciated, and your timing could not be better as I am in the middle of editing brand new footage on the 204, 22-250, and 223. There is so much new footage, that I may need to break it down into a couple of new vids. Not sure if you need or want to make your purchase immediately or not, but if you can give me a few more days, there are a few new vids coming out that may be helpful and hopefully enjoyable as well.
That 204 just continues to amaze me. Certainly sends those pills down range with some authority. I used 55gn V-max in my 250 on goats and they really do expend their energy early. I've shot goats from 100yds to 350yds (my self-imposed max range) and the projectiles seem to expand on the fur, leave a big entry hole and don't exit. My 55gn reloads are giving me a MV of around 3700fps (8208 powder). I tried some Nosler 52gn Custom Comp HPs, but because they're a longer projectile + BT, they wouldn't stabilise in the 14" twist barrel (dammit). Thanks for posting!! 👏👏👏 👋👋👋
Thank you for taking the time to write. Like the rest of the viewers, I was wondering when you would weigh in...(good to have you back.) Would it be a good idea to do the same test at 300??
I always keep an eye on you mate, 🤣🤣 😉. Don't think I've missed one of your posts in a long time. I've been a bit slack on comments, I'll have to lift my game, comments are part of the algorithm. You certainly left yourself open with that last question, 🤣🤣🤣. The correct answer to that question is, "Of course!! Everything is better at 300yds." But the answer I had to keep scrubbing out (because it kept surfacing) is, "Are you sure you can hit it at 300yds?" 🤣🤣🤣 (I know you can, but I'm Aussie, and some of us will poke you with a stick every chance we get..... 🤣🤣🤣). Cheers my friend
Where do you find 204 shells, I've tried at several outdoor outlets and can't find anything, don't pay to have the gun if we can't find shells ? Thanks Jim
@@outdooradventures1696 I always wondered how the penetration would be with the 22 caliber partition. Even a ballistic gel block. Don't know if I have seen that tested.
Thank you Pvt Jaxon for your continued support and encouragement. Much appreciated. The 250 is a Tikka varmint with a 23.8 inch barrel, 1 in 14 twist. If I am not mistaken your rifle has a 1 in 12 twist. Please tell me though if I am wrong. The 1 in 12 means you can stabilize the 60 and 64 grain bullets. You can also shoot the lighter 45 grain stuff but you may notice some spin drift at longer distances due to the faster twist. This means you have a great excuse to also own a 250 with a 1 in 14 twist with no fear of getting divorced over it...
Yes 1in 12 at 300 yards anywhere from 1 to 1&a half inches of spin drift I'm definitely going to check out the 1in14 waiting on the stimulus also really looking at getting a ak big AR fan never owned a ak but love my 250 thanks again👍
Kind of funny seeing "slow motion" replays on rounds exceeding 4k fps - it'd take a camera more expensive than my Subaru to get a slow-mo on those rounds! The more videos I watch about the 204 vs 22-250, the more the 22-250 seems to be the wise choice. Not because of its more destructive bullet weights, but the cost of & scarcity of 204 ammo. Regarding the barrel life of a 22-250 vs something like, say, the .243 or even the .223, I'd still opt for the laser accuracy & incredible velocities of the 22-250, especially for fast-moving animals like coyotes or foxes. I've read on some channels that people have even taken moose with 22-250 due to the tack-driving accuracy of headshots - something this beginner doesn't dare try.
I am not for certain but I think the Horandy varmint express has.much less powder in its casing. Like they use pistol powder in them. Has anyone pulled the bullet and recognized the powder?.
Thank you Mr Mosley for your compliments. Much appreciated. How would you feel about seeing the test again at this same distance but with larger blocks of clay so that the energy could be better contained and quantified? Also, if you would like to see this same test again, what caliber, bullet weight, or bullet type would you be most interested in seeing? Thanks again :)
Not the exact same damage. If you shoot a water bottle with a .50 BMG and a .204 Hornady, the damage will look to be the same. If you shoot a V-8 engine block with both, you won’t see the same damage. The target has to be tough enough to show the difference in energy and the clay blocks aren’t big enough.
maybe its the clay he's using but this guy has some slow mo's that really demonstrate the difference in stopping power of the 250 ua-cam.com/video/RzDrLRuNcwY/v-deo.html
Thank you. I do recognize you from weighing in on a few other vids too. Much appreciated. Uploading another vid as we speak. Should be published shortly....

I would choose the 204 Ruger with 32g v max from this test. Flat super fast and devastating .
I think the 204 done better all but the shot with the22.250 with the hollow point it done the best at lest I think

Clay blocks shows the best results
Thank you Mr. Pettinato for taking the time to both watch and share your views. Many people agree with your sentiment. 👍
204 for sure, it's a smaller and lighter round that does the exact same damage as the much bigger 22-250.
I wouldn't call it "much bigger"

both drop whitetails with proper bullet placement...
