Ninka ale TY już jesteś Polką ♥, co do tego nie ma dwóch zdań. Myślę, że wszyscy się ze mną zgodzą, prawda? 😀
Nam Polakom chcacym wrocic do Polski rzad stwarza klopoty przez utrudnianie odnowienia paszportow. Natomiast rozdaje on paszporty imigrantom lekka raczka! Przez trzydziesci lat nie bylo miejsca dla 0, 5 mln. potomkow zeslancow do Kazachstanu. Ale za to znalazlo sie miejsce dla 2,5 mln. Ukraincow. Jak dopuscicie kolorowych to bedziecie miec jak na Zachodzie: tam opanowali oni lukratywne prace rzadowe, sektor bankowy, sektor transportowy, restauracje, stacje benzynowe i handel detaliczny. Tam popelniaja oni wiekszosc ciezkich przestepstw. Kupujcie bron!
A co to, być Polką to coś szczególnego?

In Europe you are all lucky to be able to travel, visit or live in so many different places, among so many different people. I live in the US, I can drive 3 days straight, and not see anything different, same people, same history(short), same architecture everywhere. Take care of that special, international relationship because it is truly unprecedented.
Well said, it's exactly that, ALL the same in the USA. I've been here for 40+ years and I miss my home country, Poland. I know that I'll leave the USA in the next 5-6 years as there will be nothing here for me to stay. I just have to figure out a way to make a living online so that I can be free of my current limiting and meager existence.

8:00 Nynke, I think you're wrong when you say you'll never be fully Polish...what does it mean to be Polish? It is showing respect and care for our ancestors who fought for us and thanks to that we live in a free country today. Being Polish is also patriotism on a daily basis, care for the language and culture, but also kindness towards other Poles and respect for the law. I know you already have everything you need to become Polish...for me and I think for most Poles you are Polish! 😊❤

No, I'm sorry but that is not true. Being Polish is also about the Polish ethnicity. You cannot change it, you will always be the nation where you came from. If "being patriotic" was the qualifier, then there would be plenty of Poles in Poland that are not Poles, because they hold oikophobic views. People are Polish or not regardless of their stance on politics or their self-ideation.
I lived for a while in the UK, I speak flawless English with a convincing London accent, I love British music, I am very familiar with British culture. None of those mean I am English. There is nothing I can do to change that.
This is not being mean for xenophobic reasons. I sincerely hope that people can feel welcomed here, that they are respected and simply enjoy their time. I am open to many of them embracing the culture and integrating with our society. However, to pretend that you can become Polish is to dilute the essence of nationhood.
I'll give you another example: I cannot become Jewish. In fact, it would be taking almost as an offence, irrespective of my attempts. My children could, if I married a Jew, but I personally will remain Polish forever. It's not bad, it's just how it is. I will always be ~175cm tall, always be white, always have brown eyes, always have certain personality traits. Not every aspect of ones personhood is mutable.

You said you will never be fully Polish? I disagree. You will be as Polish as you wish to be. You know that there was a significant population of Dutch people living in Warsaw centuries ago? I'm pretty sure you've heard of the "Olęders" by now, but if not there's an English wikipedia article about them. They were and are as Polish as anyone here. I have a part of the family that is Prussian, they're as Polish as pierogi, you wouldn't differentiate them from anyone else here. Anyone can adopt the culture.

Wat een prachtige stad. Mooie gebouwen ondanks dat de nazi's en de Russen veel kapot hebben gemaakt. Ik ga zaterdag 23 september weer met de auto naar Polen. Eerst een weekend bij vrienden in Bielsko Biala. En daarna zie ik wel. Kom in elk geval nog in Krakow. Verheug me zo op.

Szkoda, ze nie patrzy sie na to oczami Anglikow, bo to brytijski podatnik, ktory odbudowal Polske przez ostatnie trzydiesci lat. Od wstapienia do Unii Europejskiej, Polksa nie dala do Brukseli ani zlotowki. Dlatego zorganizowalismy referendum w sprawie opuszczenia UE. Jako czesc starszego pokolenia, musialem glosowac za opuszczeniem z Unii aby uratowac Wielka Brytanie przed bankructwem.

You should watch some films set in Warsaw like 'Gangsterzy i filantropi' or 'Nie lubię poniedziałku'', but there may be a problem with well-matched English subtitles. It radically changes the perspective of the places you visit just like your host's father's photo from the 1950s.
