Oh man, I live nearby (I was taking the same train route when going to school to Poznań) and I still don't know why is this train station called Kórnik and not Szczodrzykowo, which is the village next to it. There are so many people who want to get to the city of Kórnik and they are confused by how far the train station is. And the metal heart with bottle caps in it are for charity purposes. Many people in Poland collect plastic caps at their houses and bring them to such places. It is then used for recycling and the money is given to charity organisations

Bardzo ładnie mówisz po polsku! To trudny język (nie mówię, że Twój jest łatwy!), więc tym bardziej podziwiam, że opanowałeś go w takim stopniu. Z Poznania do Kórnika najłatwiej dojechać autobusem, z Ronda Rataje odjazd a na Rynku w Kórniku wysiadka. Bilety można kupić u kierowcy, tylko trzeba powiedzieć dokąd. Chyba że coś się zmieniło w ciągu ostatnich 3 lat ;)

In my opinion, it is worth visiting Poland. This country has a lot to offer. A multitude of regions and landscapes, beautiful architecture, friendly people, delicious food, well-developed road, highway and railway infrastructure make Poland, at least for me, one of the best European tourist destination.

Vang Stave Church (Polish: Świątynia Wang; Norwegian: Vang stavkyrkje; German: Stabkirche Wang) or Mountain Church of Our Savior (Polish: Kościół Górski Naszego Zbawiciela) is a stave church located in Karpacz in the Karkonosze mountains in Poland. It was transferred to its present location from Vang in the Valdres region of Norway and re-erected in 1842. A notable tourist attraction, it is Poland's only stave church. It serves as a parish church of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland.

Usually, it’s the other way around - people focus on words, grammar, listening, and reading, while pronunciation tends to lag, especially for non-Slavic speakers. What’s your secret? Did you practise the sounds beforehand?
Appreciate it! Hmmm, I don't have any secret. I lived in Poland almost 4 years, so I really should have learned more to be honest 😁 But I simply did learning apps and practiced sometimes out in public while living there.

@@RoamingwithStu I lived in Oslo for a short time, then in Trondheim for a year and a half. My friends once took me on a trip to Bergen, the weather was beautiful, the sun was shining,l. . They then said that I was very lucky that the weather was beautiful because apparently Bergen has no rain only three days a year 😉
Nice trip. Please visit more in Wielkipolska or Lubuskie region. I recommend you Września, Jarocin, Zielona Góra, Wolsztyn, Świebodzin, Zbąszyń. All of them are near Poznań.
W czasach mojego dzieciństwa obcokrajowiec z zachodu był jak jednorożec. W razie jakichś problemów ludzie zanieśli by go na tę pocztę, kupiliby znaczki, wysłali list i odnieśli by go z powrotem. Wielki Biały Bwana przyjechał. Dzisiaj często słychać skargi na nasz pozorny chłód, brak small talks, fałszywego siłą rzeczy szczerzenia się do każdego mijanego nieznajomego żeby z góry okazać jacy jesteśmy fajni. Nasza kultura, przyzwyczajenia i nasze prawo. Każdemu według zasług. Sympatycznym ludziom pomocność i godziwe traktowanie a aroganci i buce niech sobie wyją że trafili między dzikusów, ksenofobów i rasistów. Zrobiło się normalnie. W kolejnym i ostatnim etapie znikną tacy dziadkowie jak ja których to jeszcze cieszy :)))

@@alh6255 Jasne, myślę że wiem o czym mówisz. Moje Gliwice spełniały te warunki, no i w pewnym okresie częstsze stały się odwiedziny nigdy nie widzianych krewnych głównie z Niemiec. Z tym że taki delikwent w oczy się nie rzucał dopóki się gdzieś nie zamotał, a wtedy faktycznie potrafiło się stworzyć wokół niego małe konsylium bo ludzie lubili wtedy zrobić na przybyszu przyjazne wrażenie, no i sprawdzić swój wybiedzony na kursach angielski inaczej niż gapiąc się raz w tygodniu na odcinek Columbo. Nie było tu mowy o turystyce. Obcokrajowcy nie plątali się nam pod nogami bez konkretnego celu :) Tak przy okazji. Mieliśmy na podwórku mulata (nie wiem czy to teraz nie bluźnierstwo) z mieszanego małżeństwa. Chłopak był powszechnie lubiany i serdecznie nazywany Kaszaną. Miał na nas swoje równie celne określenia. Nikt się o nic jakoś nie obrażał bo dopóki nie odkryto poprawności politycznej każdy na bieżąco wiedział co jest agresją, chamstwem a co żartem i nie musiał po wymianie kilku zdań kombinować czy się komu jakaś moralna krzywda nie stała

They used to be bought for a bigger price by the places with collection of secondary raw materials - I thought because they would need to be removed from the bottle before recycling. Anyways they were routinely used for charity collection for various cases and I guess this is a place where you can donate them for such a case - perhaps some medical charity as it is in a shape of a red heart and there's pulse in it - or it just signifies that you have a beating heart and like to help others.
English gardens have been very fashionable and popular throughout Poland since the 18th century, also in the areas that are now located in western and central Ukraine or in Belarus or Lithuania. These were both gardens around castles or manors, as well as many city gardens. One of the most beautiful and famous gardens (or rather the huge English n park) in Poland is of course the Royal Park of the Łazienki in Warsaw, established in the second half of the 18th century by King Stanisław August - the last Polish king, before the loss of independence by Poland for 120 years... There is also a lot of classicist architecture in it, which was more for chilling, such as the charming Palace on the Water (Łazienki means Bath), villas and smaller palaces among huge green areas.
You allow me to see my country through your own eyes, that's unique. What strikes me is how real the people are - I mean, the opposite of "fake". You see they're not smiling at you right away, like the young lady who took your order - and I think that's partially because they think you're Polish. Your pronunciation is really on point, when you say "dzień dobry" like that people assume you're Polish! In small towns like Kórnik, the locals usually treat foreigners differently (I mean, with a smile etc) but I think they don't recognize you as a foreigner at first. You can have full, no filter experience of what it's like to live in Poland. We may not seem to be very friendly at first, but we open up pretty quickly and then everything changes. And please rememeber, even though they're not smiling, it doesn't mean they don't like you, or something. It's just the way it is.

Well don"t worry not only tourists get lost in countryside or simple Little towns in nowhere xD I would probable get lost too ^^ and yeah you were Lucky,they gave you a ride to town, PPL are more inclined to give ride to foreginers than they own :D hope Gdańsk and Malbork was as great to See [sorry my English is not that great]
How did you come back from Kórnik? These train stations in smaller towns are sometimes far away from town itself and without someone to pick up can be tricky to get there.
I took a bus from the Kórnik rynek stop in the middle of the centre. I should have just taken this bus in the first place, but then again the video would have been less interesting 😁
@@RoamingwithStu Buses are good for local trips, like from main city to smaller towns/villages within ~20 km. Train is best for longer trips between cities/bigger towns, because you have 95% chance to not end up in middle of nowhere station. Also Poland is not USA or Russia with endless deserts or forests, so in worst scanario go any direction and within hour or two you will see some village/town. You got lucky anyone was here. :)
I didn't even know that the station was so far away! I always took buses from Poznań, from the Rondo Rataje bus terminal. They go straight to the town. Crazy that they didn't even built a path for pedestrians, the road doesn't look safe at all.
@@RoamingwithStu I've checked that place pon Street View and there are pavements (sidewalks) for most of the route. It's just the section through the fields that's so bad. Still very far away. The station is probably meant for drivers to park the cars at the station and locals who will use that one morning bus... still, the name is very confusing. There is a whole other village between Kórnik and Szczodrzykowo, where the station is. The lesson is to check where the station is before. Sometimes it's in a village next door and it's not a long walk or sometimes it's just a random village on the railway but the name comes from the important town.

I agree. Polish people are very open, if you speak polish to them. But this is not exclusively in Poland. I think most European countries share this common trait. Norway (my country) as well.
Instead, try rather asking people something like "Dzień Dobry. Jestem turystą i kręcę relację z wycieczki na UA-cam , czy to OK ?". A friendly smile is recommended. Otherwise, they may feel unpleasantly surprised and suspect that they personally or their business will later may be the object of malice on the Internet. Your'e doing fine. Respect for pronunciation, for quick, adequate and close to our hearts reactions (O kur...!) even greater. Don't even try to fight our grammar, it will kill you and they won't give the Nobel for it anyway. It's your job to change it ... 😜

This shows how bad connected is public transport in some places in Poland. Overall trains are really nice, but the problem is, when you lets say wanted to change for a bus. Even locals can get confiused... I'm not surprised that tourists get lost there.

12:30 pro tip dont use "Co?" when you talk with people you dont know cause its rude, but you can use it when u talking with friend or family. Use excuse me "Przepraszam?" or "Słucham?" and you can add "Czy możesz powtórzyć" which means can you repeat please.

Kornik is a very beautiful town. One of many in Poland. In my opinion, it is worth visiting Poland. This country has a lot to offer. A multitude of regions and landscapes, beautiful architecture, friendly people, delicious food, well-developed road, highway and railway infrastructure make Poland, at least for me, one of the best European tourist destination.

Usually, it’s the other way around - people focus on words, grammar, listening, and reading, while pronunciation tends to lag, especially for non-Slavic speakers. What’s your secret? Did you practise the sounds beforehand?
Appreciate it! Hmmm, I don't have any secret. I lived in Poland almost 4 years, so I really should have learned more to be honest 😁 But I simply did learning apps and practiced sometimes out in public while living there.

They then said that I was very lucky that the weather was beautiful because apparently Bergen has no rain only three days a year 😉

@@alh6255 Jasne, myślę że wiem o czym mówisz. Moje Gliwice spełniały te warunki, no i w pewnym okresie częstsze stały się odwiedziny nigdy nie widzianych krewnych głównie z Niemiec. Z tym że taki delikwent w oczy się nie rzucał dopóki się gdzieś nie zamotał, a wtedy faktycznie potrafiło się stworzyć wokół niego małe konsylium bo ludzie lubili wtedy zrobić na przybyszu przyjazne wrażenie, no i sprawdzić swój wybiedzony na kursach angielski inaczej niż gapiąc się raz w tygodniu na odcinek Columbo. Nie było tu mowy o turystyce. Obcokrajowcy nie plątali się nam pod nogami bez konkretnego celu :)
Tak przy okazji. Mieliśmy na podwórku mulata (nie wiem czy to teraz nie bluźnierstwo) z mieszanego małżeństwa. Chłopak był powszechnie lubiany i serdecznie nazywany Kaszaną. Miał na nas swoje równie celne określenia.
Nikt się o nic jakoś nie obrażał bo dopóki nie odkryto poprawności politycznej każdy na bieżąco wiedział co jest agresją, chamstwem a co żartem i nie musiał po wymianie kilku zdań kombinować czy się komu jakaś moralna krzywda nie stała

English gardens have been very fashionable and popular throughout Poland since the 18th century, also in the areas that are now located in western and central Ukraine or in Belarus or Lithuania. These were both gardens around castles or manors, as well as many city gardens. One of the most beautiful and famous gardens (or rather the huge English n park) in Poland is of course the Royal Park of the Łazienki in Warsaw, established in the second half of the 18th century by King Stanisław August - the last Polish king, before the loss of independence by Poland for 120 years... There is also a lot of classicist architecture in it, which was more for chilling, such as the charming Palace on the Water (Łazienki means Bath), villas and smaller palaces among huge green areas.

You allow me to see my country through your own eyes, that's unique. What strikes me is how real the people are - I mean, the opposite of "fake". You see they're not smiling at you right away, like the young lady who took your order - and I think that's partially because they think you're Polish. Your pronunciation is really on point, when you say "dzień dobry" like that people assume you're Polish! In small towns like Kórnik, the locals usually treat foreigners differently (I mean, with a smile etc) but I think they don't recognize you as a foreigner at first. You can have full, no filter experience of what it's like to live in Poland. We may not seem to be very friendly at first, but we open up pretty quickly and then everything changes. And please rememeber, even though they're not smiling, it doesn't mean they don't like you, or something. It's just the way it is.

How did you come back from Kórnik? These train stations in smaller towns are sometimes far away from town itself and without someone to pick up can be tricky to get there.
I took a bus from the Kórnik rynek stop in the middle of the centre. I should have just taken this bus in the first place, but then again the video would have been less interesting 😁
@@RoamingwithStu Buses are good for local trips, like from main city to smaller towns/villages within ~20 km. Train is best for longer trips between cities/bigger towns, because you have 95% chance to not end up in middle of nowhere station.
Also Poland is not USA or Russia with endless deserts or forests, so in worst scanario go any direction and within hour or two you will see some village/town. You got lucky anyone was here. :)

I didn't even know that the station was so far away! I always took buses from Poznań, from the Rondo Rataje bus terminal. They go straight to the town. Crazy that they didn't even built a path for pedestrians, the road doesn't look safe at all.

@@RoamingwithStu I've checked that place pon Street View and there are pavements (sidewalks) for most of the route. It's just the section through the fields that's so bad. Still very far away. The station is probably meant for drivers to park the cars at the station and locals who will use that one morning bus... still, the name is very confusing. There is a whole other village between Kórnik and Szczodrzykowo, where the station is. The lesson is to check where the station is before. Sometimes it's in a village next door and it's not a long walk or sometimes it's just a random village on the railway but the name comes from the important town.

This shows how bad connected is public transport in some places in Poland. Overall trains are really nice, but the problem is, when you lets say wanted to change for a bus. Even locals can get confiused... I'm not surprised that tourists get lost there.

12:30 pro tip dont use "Co?" when you talk with people you dont know cause its rude, but you can use it when u talking with friend or family. Use excuse me "Przepraszam?" or "Słucham?" and you can add "Czy możesz powtórzyć" which means can you repeat please.

Pamiętam, że jeszcze w dzieciństwie matka mówiła mi, że w słynnym ogrodzie przy pałacu w Kórniku rosną gruszki zaszczepione na wierzbie. Jako dziecko byłam tam potem z wycieczką szkolną, która nazywała się "Szlakiem Orlich Gniazd" i widziałam to drzewko, nie wiem, czy jeszcze jest. Ponieważ nie da się zaszczepić tak różnych gatunków, dzisiaj myślę, że była to grusza wierzbolistna, której owoce są niejadalne.
