I'm sorry Woolie is feeling poorly. Best quick healing, special lady. Such a happy start to my day, to hear your shout out include me, Jeremy. Thank you. As always, wonderful video.
Thank you so much! I have this book on Kindle, you have encouraged me to try more of the recipes. I was a bit worried that you wouldn't get back to doing cookbook reviews, that's my absolute favorite type of videos you make, while I do enjoy all of your channel. It was good to see "superb" instead of "suberb" at the top of the chart, that had been bothering me for a while! Don't forget to do one of Gaz Oakley's cookbooks at some point, he is different from all the rest in that he is an actual vegan chef. He has a Christmas themed book and a holidays themed book, so maybe something to try for the holidays?
Don't worry - the reviews are a staple here on the channel - at least for the forseeable future :) And yes - finally fixed that typo :) Something's in the works for Gaz's content. :)
I never heard of Bosh! There were some good ideas here that I would like to try! I have some input on the T-shirts. I would love some additional styles to come in the baseball shirt design. I like to wear a bit longer sleeve because my upper arms are flabby. I’m pretty sure others would like this option as well. Thanks again for another great video 😊
Yes please do a plant based milk but please put a warning if you include the horrors of the dairy industry as I can't watch stuff like that. Great video on the book!
We did an earlier book of hers, and we actually just finished reviewing her newest book - that one will be up next weekend, but here's the other one: ua-cam.com/video/dAmuo6965cs/v-deo.html
J & Fam, thank you for your priceless individual reviews. i especially appreciate the thoughtful specific details your son includes in his comments; discerning w/rationale. example: including the time investment w/ burgers recipe. LOVE your choices of bumper music. Have you tried this Coconut Milk hack from Well Your World: 3/4 c. plant milk blended with 1.5 T. unsweetened flaked coconut This is a wonderful channel.
That's really lovely of you to observe about Ephraim - thank you for that! And thanks for the coconut milk hack!!! I've made it quickly in my Milky Plant as well - but the blender might be even easier. Thank!
All the love in the world to you and the fam. So sorry Wooly isn’t feeling well. I struggled for about a year with stomach attacks and finally was diagnosed with chronic gastritis/ GERD. Chronic illness like that can be super tough. Love and prayers 🙏🏼
Hello from Olalla, WA I’ve loved and enjoyed your channel now for along time . Thanks for the great content Jeremy and fam. I appreciate all you do and all the great content and I’m always left so happy and with some laughs. I was super surprised Annie loved the burger so much
Actually I just used aquafaba - "the stuff they say to coat them in" meant the spices, etc... I might use oil to grease a pan if absolutely needed for some things, but I'll never toss veggies in it. Anytime I use oil on the channel I'm pretty open about it. I don't try to pretend we're perfect.
Bakewell tarts are a big thing in the UK, pastry with a layer of jam and a almond flour sponge cake batter then baked and when done topped with a almond flavor glaze. pretty darn good.
Great and honest review! Did you ever review a cookbook of Gazz Oakly ? He makes amazing vegan recipes, but he uses a lot of oil... Greets, Constance from Amsterdam the Netherlands
Hi Jeremy. It’s Judy from Coconut Creek Florida. I vaguely remember hearing about Tim bits before and my guess is they are something from Tim Hortons… maybe something like a Dunkin munchkin (donut hole)
Enjoyable video, Jeremy! I liked the burger recipe, the balls and the apple crisp. I never heard of Tim bits, but I looked it up. I hope Woolie’s cold got better quickly. Yes to a video on dairy 👍 I’m borrowing a couple of Bosh books from my library. Thanks!
@pbwithj Jeremy there was so much cornstarch left in the jug when you made the custard. No wonder it was runny. Scrape scrape scrape. I'm originally from the UK and custard was the first thing I was allowed to do in my Mum's kitchen. It's very specific.
Hello from Billerica, MA, near Bean Town! I just celebrated my 13th vegan anniversary. Went WHOLE FOOD PLANT-BASED, NO OIL a year later. (Vegan isn’t necessarily healthy, as my experience taught me eating lots of fake meats and cheeses, salt and sugar, and processed foods. 😢)
Hi Jeremy & family. Another awesome video reviewing Bosh healthy vegan cookbook and all the food looks 😋. Sorry to hear that Woolie isn't feeling too well and hopefully gets well soon. Love🥰 the video and love ❤ Jeremy & family.
Fantastic video thanks. Never heard of a timbit, is it some kind of frozen cake with jam in? Have you ever done a top ten of the best cookbooks you have cooked from? Not sure I really fancied the Bosh one. Really appreciate the work and look forward to these recipe testers. All the best, Shell in North Wales. X
I always have dried shitake in the store cupboard because fresh are so hard to find . Just need to rehydrate overnight or at least 8 hours. Living in a regional area is lovely but a well stocked store cupboard is essential.
I think I would try the Bosh cookbook, but will try the recipes as directed. I find that using substitutions or leaving ingredients out, changes the taste.
Thanks for the video. They have many free recipes online. I think that many are good. The custad will surely taste better after refrigeration. Let us know if it does.
I think the custard, if you make the slurry ahead of time, you need to stir it before you pour it in and the corn starch in the UK might be different than here, if it doesn't thicken make more slurry and use more corn starch next time you make it.
My biggest problem with many vegan recipes/cookbooks is the lack of seasoning or adequate sauce. It's all about the flavor. I wonder sometimes who actually tested the recipes and what kind of palate they have. After realizing that, I started automatically doubling or even tripling the spice/herbs/sauce ingredients for most recipes. These days, I look to recipes more for a framework and always continue to taste along the way to see if something needs to be added, be it more spice or acid or just salt and pepper. I am encouraged to see that more vegan cooks/cookbooks are really putting the flavor profile front and center and emphasizing that instead of just saying that something is plant-based and very healthy, so that should be enough. It's not enough for most people in the long term. It has been interesting to see your family's journey and how everyone's cooking skills and palates have evolved.
I think they've forgotten to double up on some of the ingredients. Jeremy says at the beginning of the video that some of them are for 2 people, but then proceeds to put a very small amount of soy sauce in the yaki soba. I've generally found bosh! recipes to be pretty good. The other thing is that cooking with oil is not just about preventing food from sticking to the pan, fat helps to enhance flavours and so if you are removing it from a recipe you are going to have to find other ways to pack in more flavour, so you would naturally need more herbs and spices than in the original recipe when not using oil.
I had never heard of these guys so thank you for introducing us to them. The burger texture didn’t look right to me so if I make them then I would leave the beans whole or maybe mash them to help with some structure…..just a thought. The custard looked like it needed more cornstarch to help it thicken and possibly more vanilla and maple. Never heard of a Tim bit haha it must be a Canadian thing but it sounds naughty, we Tim Tams here and they are naughty too.
Hey Jeremy. I would love to see a video of plant vs cow milk because some of my loved ones would need to see the horrors they are partaking in by paying for and eating dairy cheese, yogourt and ice cream. Prompt rétablissement Woolie !
Hi Jeremy would love to see a review on Make it Vegan by Madeleine Olivia, she's from Cornwall in the UK Thanks for all you do Much love from the Balearic Islands, Spain 👋
If you're relying on plant-based milks that fortify their products to give you your vitamins then you need to eat more vegetables and healthy fats. That's not a problem with milk makers, that's a problem with the balance in your diet.
Bakewell isn't a cookie it's a tart. Tastes pretty much like marzipan. The tart is a pastry case with sponge, jam and soft icing with a cherry on top. Sickly but kinda nice!!
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We aim to keep things as natural and relaxed as possible on the channel, but I understand that this might be off-putting for some viewers. I appreciate you taking the time to let us know how you feel, and while we strive to create an authentic experience, I’ll be mindful of your concerns moving forward. Thanks for watching and for your honesty!
I think I'm addicted to this channel now 😂
I can't help with that... but yeah :)
I'm sorry Woolie is feeling poorly. Best quick healing, special lady.
Such a happy start to my day, to hear your shout out include me, Jeremy. Thank you.
As always, wonderful video.
Love that you’re a part of our community! And Woolie's back to normal now :)
Yummmm. Dalfour jam is one of my favs. Most are fruit juice sweetened. Same with some Crofters (Canadian!).
It's definitely a challenge to find jams without added sugar!

Wow, that's dedication! And thank you!

I missed that part....thank goodness.
Will do!
Feel better Woolie🥰
I don't know if you have done a review on Plantiful Kiki? But that would be one I'd like to see. Thanks. Love your channel.

She just has a standard cold, all better now!
The Bakewell balls are a spin off of a Bakewell tart - a pastry pie shell with jam in and topped with icing and slivered almonds.

No worries!
I'm new here. From Gulf Coast Florida. Really enjoying your show and sweet family.
Bakewell tarts are a big thing in the UK, pastry with a layer of jam and a almond flour sponge cake batter then baked and when done topped with a almond flavor glaze. pretty darn good.
Sounds like a fun dessert - I'm guessing it's good with almond milk?
YES to a video segment about plant milks and the horrific treatment of dairy cows.
❌️🐄🥛
My favourite homemade veggie burger is the NY Times veggie burger from Engine2 Diet (I could just check myself, but have you reviewed that one yet?) 👀
We haven't on the channel but I made them years ago. I don't recall them...
Great and honest review! Did you ever review a cookbook of Gazz Oakly ? He makes amazing vegan recipes, but he uses a lot of oil... Greets, Constance from Amsterdam the Netherlands
I find the amount of ingredients in many of his recipes daunting.
I second Gazz!
Working on a video highlighting him :)
@@pbwithjeremy That sounds great, already looking forward to it!
Hi Jeremy. It’s Judy from Coconut Creek Florida. I vaguely remember hearing about Tim bits before and my guess is they are something from Tim Hortons… maybe something like a Dunkin munchkin (donut hole)
Timbits are donut holes but much better! 👍 hehe
Your son is a lovely young man. 😊
Thanks! He's a good kid.
Have you gotten Pamela Anderson new cookbook yet or will you be getting it? It’s really good
It’s on deck!!!! Will have the review out sometime in the upcoming weeks
Right the horrors of the dairy industry I was vegetarian for so long and did not realize how awful the dairy industry was.
Placed ' hold ' on a copy from the Library. Thanks Jeremy.
Hi Jeremy
Would love to see the plant milk versus cow milk discussion - pros vs cons.
Great tip about the hot peppers. I buy some and they always spoil before I can use them all. And knowing that de-seeding trick is awesome.
I keep my green and red chillies in the freezer.
It's a game changer, right?
Enjoyable video, Jeremy! I liked the burger recipe, the balls and the apple crisp. I never heard of Tim bits, but I looked it up. I hope Woolie’s cold got better quickly. Yes to a video on dairy 👍 I’m borrowing a couple of Bosh books from my library. Thanks!

Sure but the taste was still bland. The scraping wouldn’t have fixed that.
Hi Jeremy thanks for the great show. Loving all the awesome ideas. Love from LeeAnn South africa

Totally get it - always having some dried mushrooms on hand is a must!
Great review!! You touched on my thoughts exactly!!
Glad it was helpful!
I think I would try the Bosh cookbook, but will try the recipes as directed. I find that using substitutions or leaving ingredients out, changes the taste.
That’s what I mean about complicated cookbooks. That burger took you a while - I’m hoping your cookbook is E.A.S.Y. 😊
You bet! Our cookbook is super easy to follow. There’s a few recipes that might take more time to make something special but none of it is hard, IMO
That Smoky Relish would be delish on a grilled chz sammich! Feel better soon Woolie!
YESSSSSS
btw my suggestion is Happy Herbivore cookbooks by Lindsay Nixon, she is oil free too
Lindsay co-authored a books we did recently I believe...
Yes you did :D or rather she did lol

Hi beautiful PB with J family from Dacula Georgia may God bless you and your beautiful family
Hi Jackie!
Love to see a review of the new Nama plant milk machine.
We'd consider it if they reached out to us. We're pretty happy with our Milky Plant, so couldn't justify paying for it
I think the custard, if you make the slurry ahead of time, you need to stir it before you pour it in and the corn starch in the UK might be different than here, if it doesn't thicken make more slurry and use more corn starch next time you make it.
The thickening wasn't the problem so much as it just didn't add any flavour
Hey from DE. Yes do the milk deep dive.
If you saute pepers in the tomato relish you get the whole meal with rice delicious..
I think the relish would be a bit too much to be a sauce on an entire meal - it's great as an accent flavour though!
Tim Bit!! Fortunately, Tim Horton's moved away from our area several years ago!
My biggest problem with many vegan recipes/cookbooks is the lack of seasoning or adequate sauce. It's all about the flavor. Sometimes in the recipe making I don't show every single step - I'm pretty good about doubling properly, etc.....
I hear you! And thank you :) You'll see that in full effect with the book we're putting out :)
A Tim bit is a donut hole. I know that because I used to live in Ontario.

The main problem I see with milk makers is that for many ‘day to day’ vegans the vitamins and minerals in commercial milks are essential.
If you're relying on plant-based milks that fortify their products to give you your vitamins then you need to eat more vegetables and healthy fats. That's not a problem with milk makers, that's a problem with the balance in your diet.
Sounds like it was meant to be a pouring custard, which is thin like sauce.
Bakewell isn't a cookie it's a tart. Tastes pretty much like marzipan. The tart is a pastry case with sponge, jam and soft icing with a cherry on top. Sickly but kinda nice!!
Unfortunately you can not buy the milk machine in Canada right now
Oh, bummer!
Milky is sold out in USA 🇺🇸
Thanks for the heads up - I'll let everyone know when they're back!
Did you double all the sauce ingredients for the noodles dish? No maple syrup? Did look skimpy on the sauce.
Yes I did. It's a skimpy sauce.
Hello . Jackie Bell from NY.

Tim Bit... a donut hole from Tim Horton's? I think that is right!
:)
I am not sure what a Timbit is but it’s from Tim Horton’s! Maybe a donut hole?
Yup!
If timbits is Canadian treat, does it have something to do with Tim Hortons?
It does!
Tastes like bean dip on a bun lolol
