I’m a Dominican women I think that’s just them. My mother will visit on weekends briefly, but just to see her grandkids. Other then that we don’t see her and she’s a single divorce women. I’m married to a Yemeni Arab man even tho we’re both Muslim the culture shock was way more there than if I was with any other person.
He didn’t expect her Mom and brother to move into their home. He doesn’t feel comfortable around them. They talked abt the mom leaving but she never left.
I agree! I had tough questions with my husband before we got married. He was a bit uncomfortable with the questions because our relationship was premature but then understood the conversations were needed. I want to get my marriage right ONE TIME! 😄
My husband and i had all those convos. About sex, sex drives, cultural views on marriage, religion, politics somewhat, gender roles, kids, adoption if i cant concieve naturally, about our families, all the hard shit. We also had to make sure we weren't related because he has the same last name as some of my cousins in kentucky 😂
I had my daughter at 22. Her father and I broke up when she was nine months old because of those exact reasons. However, I didn’t have the mindset/wisdom I do now about what’s important when raising a child together. Sometimes you don’t realize the cultural differences or even who that person truly is until you have a child together.
This is true, talks during dating are very different. Sometimes you both think you can compromise on certain things but practically when it's happening in front of you and with a kid you might have a change of heart. Also not all cultural differences are addressed before the baby comes, it doesn't take 2 years to learn about your spouse's cultures even after 15 years there are new things you will learn. Couples need to figure out what is important to each of them first.

No Flip, it’s just a lot of hood dudes who don’t. A lot of black men in particular are quick to explore sexual compatibility and don’t try to take the time out to get to know the woman. Sex comes first to a lot of them. That’s why y’all realize things when it’s too late and then are quick to separate.
Jeannie Mai is highly family-oriented. She moved from California (where she was born and raised) to Atlanta, where her new husband lived. It doesn't surprise me if she wanted her family there. I think the family values they are talking about is that Jeezy didn't realize how close and BIG Jeannie's family is and that she is genuinely Asian. She's not Asian trying to be Black. She has deep Asian family values that she carries with her.
WHY Is it sooo damn hard for people to realize she made sacrifices and MOVED to Atlanta for HIM? why was it wrong that she wanted her family with her? No one is allowed to feel lonely or want to be close to their family? People only wanna see what suits their purpose not be objective
I feel the same, exact, way! It was my first-time watching, also and I feel they were very disrespectful y rude to her. I actually wanted to hear her opinion. It's not a one-sided conversation.
Before getting married, I would advise people to see a licensed marital counselor for 6 - 9 months and you'll end up discussing ALL of the important topics e.g., money, in-laws, goals, children, religion, geography
@@lafordgirl7549 Yes, with a Licensed Professional because they are specifically trained in this one area and very thorough. After 6 - 9 months of pre-marital counseling the chances of divorce drop drastically because they go over a wide range of important topics and the two involved have a very clear and certain understanding & agreement about each others attitudes, goals, dreams, ability to communicate, etc. At the end of it, the professional can predict with 85% certainty whether or not the marriage will end in divorce.
I'm Catholic, and our church required my husband and I to undergo counseling before the wedding. This provided an opportunity for us both to understand what we were getting into, and value systems were discussed at length. So there weren't really any surprises down the road.
Right! Yeah.. ours [pre-cana] was for at least a year. Seems intense, but it's important to put everything on the table for convo. As for Jeannie and Jay, I don't even think it's about diff in cultures; instead, it's the lack of actually being committed in a sacred level.
@@JindyMarie05 definitely. I don't think I learned my husband's favorite color until a year or so after we got married. The small talk could come later lol
People also have to realize Jeezy was always the type to leave a relationship…kids or not. I personally think he would’ve still left, just for a different reason. He’s not a long-term commitment type of guy and used to moving around freely. Jeannie Mai provided great resources for his new image. I’m sure she also got Jeezy in circles that would overlook him, due to his track record as a rapper. Now, he’s built a relationship with people in those circles and can be taken more seriously as a businessman.
@@jeremiahsymonette4781 Uh…yea!!! As I mentioned, she was moving in completely different circles than Jeezy. The lady is on every major network hosting or co-hosting a show. That’s a broader audience reach. Therefore, that’s an “upgrade” for Jeezy in business and wherever else. Jeezy was more “hood known” and for a younger crowd of non-blacks. His marriage allowed him to be taking more seriously. Especially how she was praising him.
@@tonimartin8547 You are thinking about a completely different crowd. It’s like how when Jay and Beyoncé got together. One needed the other to reach each other’s audience. Although both were celebrities.
It is tough I grew up Catholic and my wife is Hindu. When we first got together there was no issues. As we started a family things have gotten a bit tricky at times. We didn't really discuss in advance.
My friends mum & dad is the same and together for 50 years He would take her to the temple and pick her up, he would go church with the kids on Sunday It like all things can work ❤ But at the same time their are the same culture just different religions
A lot of people know they are attracted to each other but don’t even communicate about their relationship goals. Crazy how people can have babies but still don’t know each other.
But here’s the thing! Jeannie always made me feel like they have a lot of conversations. Remember she said they had a long long talk in Monaco (hence baby name). Especially that they were both broken by their past relationships I was assuming they will now discuss and make sure all is right. I felt Jeannie understood the cultural differences and that there is compromise required. Maybe they talked theory but reality got the worst out of them…
She also said that their first date lasted 8 hours...I'm just stuck on wtf were they talking about if this was never brought up lol. I think they were both caught up on the idea. It's important to people watch as well. If your spouse says that they value exercising everyday, watch their actions too. If you're sleeping over or whatever - you should have an idea of who they are aside from what they say. A lot of people lie and have a fear of abandonment + some people hate being single and will say whatever in the moment. You can't allow yourself to be desperate for any relationship!
That's an issue that many people who date and marry interacially, dont take into account. Cultural values lead to many many divorces. Jeezy may have liked the idea of a culture where men and women play a specific role in the household and non-western cultures do embrace that traditional role, but he under-estimated the importance of family in that culture. I know from experience that the asian community is very family oriented, to the point that relatives do move in with the new married couple. If you don't like a jam packed household then you may wanna reconsider.. Italians, middle eastern, African and Hispanic families are the same in that aspect. They believe you have to earn your way into the family and you shouldn't tarnish the family name. They still abide by tradition that we in the west have largely abandoned. Personally I do favor roles in the household but if you come from a culture where your family isn't that involved in your household, then I can see how it can be overwhelming. Jeezy was probably thinking, "Look, I married you, not them.".. He just didn't realize when you marry into these traditionalist families, you are marrying into the family and they take it literally. It could also be true that Jeannie Mai's well documented temperament issues could also have led to the separation as well. He isn't trying to come home to attitude and dis-unity in his household and with his social standing, he has alot of options and figured he could do better. Based on some of the things she said in the past and how she reportedly treated her ex-husband, I can only imagine the difficulty of living under one roof with her. There's a reason why her ex-husband said, "I upgraded" when re-marrying to another woman after their divorce. Men have to realize that it may be exciting in the bedroom to date these alternative women, but trying to build a household with them is another story. You shouldn't have to mold someone to respect your boundaries and it's a red flag for any woman to say, "I need a man who can handle me." Her statements about black men on the view also disqualified her, but some men look past the flags and have to learn the hard way.
African families don't move in with new couples, at least I have never heard that not with Asian families. With Asian families this is more so the routine during and after a woman's pregnancy. But also Asian women tend to be more dominant, so I cant see that fairing well with Jeezy.
You’re supposed to learn who your partner is completely before you commit to a marriage or kids. But we don’t do that! We go with what feels good and what looks good! That’s why pre nups exist because people literally do not believe the words that come out of their own mouths. That’s wild!!🤦🏾♂️
I think most folks don’t start to have the real deal conversations until later, most times when they’re very comfortable with their spouse. And then they say this is who I am
@@godsangel67able and as we all know that’s too late. The partner is in love with a different you. That never works. I counsel people dealing with this all the time. ✊🏾✊🏿
I usually do not care one bit about celebrity couples but even I found that pairing odd. It would be difficult for me to see past anyone objectifying men of my race in such a crude fashion, let alone see a wife for myself in that person. To then view someone like Jeanie Mai as a suitable mother for a young black child is strange to say the least. Jeezy always likes to portray himself as a shrewd and well thought through hustler, this move looked anything but well thought through. Hopefully, he has at least made sure she now has a more educated perspective on black men, if only for the sake of their young child.
That woman does not give af about how the integrity of that baby will be raised. He's black, not white or Asian aesthetically! If he was then we'd hear different. As far as that bitch speaks on black men
👏🏽 Your last statement. We’re all evolving as human beings and it’s unfair to place a timeframe on someone else’s growth & progress. Everyone keeps forgetting that Jeannie’s statements regarding black men were made in 2014, during a time of her life where it’s worth mentioning that she was married to her first husband, a white man, at the time; She probably made those statements to appeal to her then, husband. Mind you, no one considers that Jeannie Mai is herself a biracial individual or even how her statements could’ve offended her Chinese or Vietnamese male relatives and/or Asian counterparts. But even if she didn’t, my views on race and marriage have changed since then. In 2014, I probably would’ve considered entering into an interracial marriage. However now that I’m older I understand the negative implications of such a decision and nowadays would decide against it. Everyone’s experience is different and I wouldn’t totally write her off or view her as racists because of ignorant statements made in her past. 🙋🏾♂️My $.02
I was dating a guy and he didn’t wanna talk about finances. I said we need to talk about finance now. It’s better to get these difficult and awkward conversations out-of-the-way now then to be too deep in he thought it was rude to bring up, i said how can you plan on marrying and combining your life with someone, but not want to talk about finance??? I think he was insecure about how much money he made. Needless to say, I ended it.
Here's the thing. Jeezy is really into Self development. That's amazing and I think he should take that same approach to his marriage. Couples therapy and comittment to working to strengthen the marriage should have been tried before jumping straight to divorce. All the reasons I heard thus far are minor; workable issues. When you build a house it takes time to settle... cracks will appear... and after they are repsired, a house will always need upkeep, repairs, and updates. Marriage is just like people, a work in progress. Unless it's been tried over and over and Jeanie was deadlock against...working on anything.... Jeezy jumped the gun on this one. Perhaps he isn't ready for what marriage really takes. *** disclosure; these thoughts are based off what we know thus far, he may have very compelling reasons of a serious nature that we/ I don't know about....
Because he is NOT the marrying type. Jeezy has a history of leaving his women before their child is 2 years old. Long-term commitments is not his thing. Therefore, he was never going to stay long and would’ve found another reason why the marriage didn’t work. He likes the honeymoon stages only.
@@AN-fg4cdagree. Jeezy talks all that talk but at the end of the day looks like he is still very immature. And Jeannie thought she would be the exception because she is not a black woman (just like Kim K and Khloe and Kylie) they think they will be treated better.
For us as Africans we do that we take care of our family members so yeah you have to talk about these things before because that will be a problem. It's our culture to take care if family

Who actually believed this was gonna be long term though? 😂 I’m about to generalize but a lot of non Black women fetishize Black men or get with them bc some put them on a pedestal. Rarely do I see them talking about their Black husband in a way that actually matters. It’s always a backhand compliment or passive aggressive dig towards Black women. Jeannie did that shit too. Every time she talked about Jeezy, she made it about sex, or their private conversations. She never respected him or his boundaries as a husband literally telling the public their personal business. Jeezy strikes me as the type of man person that values privacy. Jeannie runs her damn mouth too much. I knew it was a wrap when she talked about having sex with Jeezy & liking to be on top bc he would play with her belly when she was pregnant 🤢 I don’t think “tough conversations” weren’t had simply bc if nothing else, Jeannie is transparent. Valid point as it applies to both parties...many black people ignore religion, values etc just because they think they are escaping the stereotypes within the Black community that they themselves partake in for sake of what they view as getting better hence y it usually falls apart

People are too quick to divorce. Get marriage counseling. Go to a marriage retreat. Read a book together. Find some compromise with certain things....the answer is not always divorce. At least try to work on the martiage first and don't wait until there are problems to work on it.
That's BS because Jeezy & Jennie Mai dated for over a year before marriage. I believe one of them downplayed what they would or would not want in a marriage before getting married.
I find it hilarious there are some men that STILL think marriage will change a woman from her ways. And vice versa for both sexes.😂 This is why EVERYTHING before you matters. Habits die hard.
There's an important part of the story that gets left out. Jeanie never wanted to have kids because she was molested as a child and feared she wouldn't be able to protect her child because she wasn't protected. That is why there wasn't any conversations about raising kids when they got married. With that being said, this is such a minor thing to get divorced over. They both work in a capacity that they would need to have a live-in nanny anyways. And they're both millionaires so they should be able to figure something out.
Wanting/not wanting kids is a HUGE thing. What are you talking about? No wonder they didn't make it. Now I'm even MORE confused as to how they even got married.
@@kjk607Jeannie didn’t want to have kids with her first husband Freddie. Supposedly, it’s part of what led to their divorce. Maybe he agreed to not having kids at first then changed his mind after they married, or they never mutually agreed to not having them? It happens (crazy as it seems). Jeannie changed her mind about kids when she got with Jeezy. Her ex-husband Freddie had a child with another woman relatively soon after he and Jeannie divorced.
You can talk about all of those things prior to getting married and still not cover all the bases. And they aren’t the first Black and Asian couple to marry and have children. Relationships are hard and most of the time they fail. It happens.
We don’t celebrate Christmas, Easter or Halloween in our household. We have two small kids who go to school where they’re the only black and Muslim kids in our small rural school. From as young as 2 years old we taught our kids that we don’t celebrate those holidays because we have our own holidays. We taught them to respect others whenever they have their holidays and now that they’re 7 & 4 years old they tell all their classmates and teachers why we don’t celebrate those holidays. They never feel left out in any way because they understand the reason why it doesn’t make sense to us. Kids are super intelligent and if giving reason why we don’t do certain things they completely understand. We taught our kids to believe in themselves and never be the followers of others. We teach them to be proud of their beliefs, and their cultures so it has never been any issue for us. If we can do in a small rural town and be the only black and Muslims and stand in our beliefs and culture it can happen anywhere.
It's all good until your kids start getting bullied, alot of times the problem doesn't lie in our kid not understanding things. Great that it has worked out in your family.
I don't even think it's about diff in cultures; instead, it's the lack of actually being committed in a sacred level. I would just assume from 2 people who are vocal about their faith, they would at least try and try to work it out. Not saying they didnt, but Jeannie was completely blindsided. I think Jennie married him as a quick rebound to validate herself because of what her ex did. He was happy so she had to present as happy. Jeezy married her imo because of her esthetic.
Black Americans do NOT MOVE in with their married kids. Culturally Asians do. Even in black American homes grandma and grandpa may help in daycare but whole family moving in isn't our culture. We're American. We just don't do it. Pretending we do is weird.
I’m sure it’s definitely challenging to come together with completely different backgrounds and cultural viewpoints. They probably assumed a lot about each other and didn’t take into account the extended family dynamics and raising a child. Black culture and Asian culture in my personal opinion are both are very dominant. So I can understand this turning upside down. Just from the outside looking in, it seems like interracial relationships for example Asian and Caucasian people work maybe because there is no fight for positional dominance in the relationship.
i noticed this aswell, certain cultures don't gel well together as a unit, that needs to be talked about more, any culture can have fun in the bedroom, maybe a good time dating, but longevity is something else as the emphasis on culture, family and values is heavyyyy.
Asians and African culture are dominant. Theres nothing like black culture. However am African living in Asia and i think we have many similarities. Whats disturbing these two is the modern black and. Modern asian culture! Both being dominant in nature, it becomes hard to reconcile. Forexample long ago in Asia women were meant to be submissive, this is what we blacks have too. But today in Asia women are not submissive its the mean that are with this generation. So a black man cant take that! Asian culture today is stressful, even here in asia alot of divorces and deaths are the outcome! They twisted the cultures. Only India philipines and a few are still intact
A lot of people actually Do not have these conversations. A lot of times we just start to notice how someone was raised, notice how their families interact. I know a lot of people who started having problems later on in relationships because these things were not discussed.
My birthday is 2 days before Halloween. My mom never celebrated was completely against it! my dad on the other hand would buy me a costume and take me trick or treating. I’m glad I got to experience it as a child; but as an adult I don’t celebrate any holiday after doing my own research.

So what, that doesn't give her the right to move her whole tribe in one's household 😂

Before getting married, I would advise people to see a licensed marital counselor for 6 - 9 months and you'll end up discussing ALL of the important topics e.g., money, in-laws, goals, children, religion, geography

Nope, other way around. He was the bigger star in their relationship.

Therefore, that’s an “upgrade” for Jeezy in business and wherever else.
Jeezy was more “hood known” and for a younger crowd of non-blacks. His marriage allowed him to be taking more seriously. Especially how she was praising him.

Maybe they talked theory but reality got the worst out of them…
The last sentence says it all (theory vs. reality).

You shouldn't have to mold someone to respect your boundaries and it's a red flag for any woman to say, "I need a man who can handle me."
Her statements about black men on the view also disqualified her, but some men look past the flags and have to learn the hard way.
Well said
Definitely not a red flag.
👏👏
They should delete all the other comments and leave this one fam 🫡

He was either insecure or knew he would never give you access to his money. More like, I have my money and you have your money.
Good job!
My wife and I definitely had those conversations before marriage. We discussed family values, finances, faith, etc.
Same here the only people that don't have these conversations before marriage in my opinion are immature.

We do have these conversations before marriage. That’s the beauty of Islam.
I don’t do holidays period and sometimes it’s a problem in my house
A lot of people actually Do not have these conversations. A lot of times we just start to notice how someone was raised, notice how their families interact. I know a lot of people who started having problems later on in relationships because these things were not discussed.
Don't let your child go to school that day when they're celebrating that particular holiday you don't celebrate.
My birthday is 2 days before Halloween. My mom never celebrated was completely against it! my dad on the other hand would buy me a costume and take me trick or treating. I’m glad I got to experience it as a child; but as an adult I don’t celebrate any holiday after doing my own research.
Somebody said Jeannie moved the Wu-Tang Clan into the crib 😂😂
“Hao gotta go” 🤣🤣🤣😭😭
Thicko is crazy hilarious yo Joe too much man 😅🙈😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

NO BUHSHYT‼️🤞🏾 Like WTF? They didn't even know each other, if it wasn't a PR relationship, that good new sex ain't hittn the same.
It was a huge culture shock for both of them, and then the fact that she said she liked her dark meat on the side I would not have been able to get past that. She would not have stood a chance.
Then she has her mom, and her sibling living in the house with them. that's absolutely too much! Black folks don't do allat unless their parents is sick. You need your own home, or you can maybe maybe live on the same street.
Taking care of your parents whether you're rich or poor is the culture in the Asian community
Looool when they start talking about the brother 😅😂
This comment section is hilarious. Apparently every responsible MFer wanted to comment that they discussed everything single thing with their partner. Statistically impossible
Jeanie Mae talked about her preferences, but when black men do it we are suppose to be ok with it. Stop it.
Wym?
Why is Melissa even there??? She can't even get a word in and they not letting her speak ....she's just there smiling 🫣😒
Y'all do realize her brother works for her &:lives in The Bay ... Asian Culture family is everything
Another quiet segment for Mel
Isn’t this the same pod that didn’t want to talk about Jamie Foxx cuz that family and personal issues and we shouldn’t make their business our business.
Having other family members live with you is normal if you're non-american
LmFao @ “ThickO”. And shouts to STEVE-O! Lol
Side note
Hey Fam Halloween derived from
Paganism .
Jeannie and jeezy are too old to be in a "moment. These things should have been discussed prior to marriage".
I didn’t know Queenz Flip was pregnant 🤰🏾
Congrats Brodie! I hope your baby comes out healthy.
In the name of Whyte Jeezus!🙏🏾
He should’ve stayed with Keshia Cole
They may have discussed their views on family values but who is to say “someone” was being honest. Seems like maybe things were said to appease the situation so “someone “ could get married.
Women are notable for that most of the time..not all but most
