the recent starcraft 1 thing is leaving a stain :D this is how zerg used to be played, back in my day.lmao against a protoss, try this build, 13 overlord, 17 2nd hatch, 17 pool, 17 third expo, 17 4th expo, 17 5th expo, :D
God damn I love these videos. New ideas every video - Better execution or innovation if it isn’t new. Even regardless, the gameplay is beyond fun to watch and attempt to synthesize into my own. Love it, Kevin. Your stuff gets better by the day
It's really an interesting challenge, because until you're maxed out, the queen isn't actually that much better than a macro hatch for larva - a macro hatch is ~14% slower to produce 3 larva than a queen, but it also produces them at a steady rate instead of a queen's lump sum. The queen is still incredible for all the other things it does, obviously, and while it is better for larva, it's still surprisingly close on that front - close enough that good play can overcome that handicap pretty easily. Which showed in his losses, I think. It's telling that he didn't really lose due to being outproduced, but due to being vulnerable to the kinds of attacks that queens are great at answering.
really like the many hatches everywhere ;D maybe use queens only for creepspread; would be interesting, allow for a lot off fast creepspread extra transfuses and still need for 3-4 hatch early game; spines and spores would also become a lot stronger with the extra transfure energi and a lot off builts wouldnt be countering so hard ^^
After that video it would be nice to see the exact opposite --> *Mass Queens Versus Grandmasters* , or *Queen Walk with Mass Queens* . --> With the goal to build as many Queens as possible and a crap ton of lings or a few roaches (maybe ravagers if effortable) and on top of that you could pull drones to build a ton of spines and spores in front of the opponents base on creep.
Has been done. Fails hard to pure marine. Spine rush is done from time to time as a cheese and it can work. The are really bad in the late game because they don't get upgrades
Harstem said this challenge all wrong. BGMWSS is secretly about trying stupid shit out to see if it has any potential. If you are going to skip queens, it’s got to be a rush. As a macro unit, you obviously don’t want to play a macro game without them. Therefore, play a powerful all in that is aggressive and doesn’t rely on much larva. And we all know what that looks like, cuz there’s only one viable rush- it’s the roach all in. And that’s boring, of course, but it is likely the only way that skipping your queen as has any potential. Being that harstem kinda sucks with Zerg compared to those that understand the Zerg meta, I wouldn’t really expect him to find a slight nuance in the meta that allows for this to work, if it has any chance to even work at all, whether as a mind game or just through efficiency. That’s why his BGMWSS is usually best with when he is playing toss
Oh man the number of zergs on ladder who think they can just be super greedy just cus theyre on 2 bases in ZvZ.. no my friend Harstem you are the one that's incorrect, roach/ling allins are meant to punish those builds. yes if you scout well you should be able to hold it ofc but plenty of people, like you, don't do that and so that's why these "dumb all-ins" work more often than they should. They probably also did it cus they saw you doing some weird fast double gas opening (which made no sense btw, no reason to get 2 gases that fast) and signaled you would be mineral starved and thus defense-starved
seems only possible vs zerg, u can open glaive adepts then go into immortal archon storm. but vs terran or toss i dont see how u can get away with no disruptors in the lategame
@harstem as a idea for beating grandmaster's with stupid stuff. Can you do a video where you have to keep an extra 8 supply unused. So you always need an extra pylon. You are capped at 195/200 also. Have to start the game with building a pylon instead of probes.
Are queens overrated? I mean they are at fighting, but there is also creep and injects that are valuable, at least in the early game. If you go air, then the lack of creep doesn't matter, except for vision
Is poor viper control the reason why zerg is harstem's weakest macro race? I don't think I ever see good use out of vipers while his control with things like sentries, ghosts, disruptors, templars are damn good.
well, i guess next update, zerg needs the queen to be removed. It's just been enabling them the whole time and strayed away from the true idea of the zerg.
I don't know why you are disrespecting his opponent like that, he did a good job for a 5k mmr player. Of course, a higher ranked protoss player would have won this, but also of course he is gonna mess up vs the lurker sometimes especially as Harstem is much faster and made the game hard.
His awareness is that of a person who's played for over a decade. Almost everything he does in this game is automatic. Everything normal players think about, for him, takes place on a subconscious level. Everything simply flows. I have almost 3,000 hours in Dead by Daylight and I've achieved the same kind of flow in that game. It's a marvellous feeling.
No way harstem that's almost EXACTLY how i play zerg. Without the winning part tho
He called it cheese instead of based
Harstem is the kind of person who would play Roy without a social security number

and then gas gas hydralisk den to defend against corsairs... wait...

The most honest Zerg gameplay I've ever seen.
This is interesting cause you can use the overlord creep dump with a spor colostomy bag underneath to spread creep protecting said overlord
I have played Zerg many without queens many times when playing in Bronze league!
7:00 The most minerals Harstem has ever floated.
Dear Harstem.
My opponent didn't build the most broken unit in the game but still won. Zerg OP

you are pretty much closest we have to a native sc2 speaker
I love starcraft 2 broodwar

@@AntiDoctor-cx2jd They don't?? I had no idea. How about the drones?
@@amzidoeseverything no, drones do not get upgrades and are also a bad late game combat unit. Hope this helps.
Not just the cheesiest man alive... But most unhinged
I would have spent the game wondering where the queens are hiding
12:35: we learned that lings are stupid
10 lings pop out

Beginner question, but how does he know his drone count? Where should i be looking for that information? Thanks
Hover your supply count top right corner.
I want to see protoss with no stalkers or disruptors at a GM level.

@@colinlee2904 by building different units that actually do damage
simply airtoss should work.
@@BeniBela yeah, and I think colossus immortal are very underrated. Especially against terran bio which is usually what kills protoss at high levels.

awesome first game,..

I have not built queens before.
Dear Harstem, what should I say to people who bm:s after a winning game and say I am the worst player they have ever seen? 😃
"welp, at least matchmaking works"
Roach swarmhost plus static d at home

Hello fellow creature of the sea
Who is going to tell him that he build a queen in his main game 1? Therefore 0 wins in my book
