  • This one simple tip is about to make all your biceps workouts 100% more effective at building muscle and strength. 🙌
    Starting with your hands already in a supinated position will ensure your biceps are activated right from the start of your reps.
    This will also ensure that tension remains on the biceps as you alternate your curls as well.
    If you are not used to training biceps this way EXPECT to have to lower the weight because you WILL be weak in the sticking point (bottom of the rep)
    But thats a good thing because progressing in the gym is all about finding and eliminating weak points! 💪🏻

    Your videos are amazing for form! When you don't have a lot of time to work out in the week, it makes a HUGE difference when using correct form. I get way beter results now, depite not having the time to go as often as I'd like :)

    I've been doing twists for Dumbbell bicep curls (starting in that neutral position, like at the beginning of the video, then as I raise my arm and dumbbell I rotate or twist it to finish at the top)
    Do you recommend stop the twisting/rotating and just start supinated like in the video? Like as if it was a barbell
    Thanks!

    • @ScottHermanFitness
      @ScottHermanFitness  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes exactly as if it were a barbell! Still do hammer curls as well - but no need to do supinating curls unless you are fatigued at the end of a set or want to lift a bit heavier

    The largest amount of muscle fiber recruitment is during the eccentric motion. So over loading with a slight cheating motion then doing a controlled return to the start position is where most of your gains are realized.

    • @andylong2239
      @andylong2239 5 місяців тому +1

      True

    • @ScottHermanFitness
      @ScottHermanFitness  5 місяців тому +1

      This is true - but you also get more biceps activation from a supinated position - if I were you, I'd do as many reps as you can fully supinated and then switch to a neutral-to-supinated grip to finish the set!

    You have a Great Hollywood style body! You should have a Final Boss Herman Tanktop!

  • @xv2866
    @xv2866 5 місяців тому +1

    But the process of supinating your hand is a function of the bicep. So wouldn't it make sense to include the "neutral into supinated" grip at the bottom of each rep?

    • @ScottHermanFitness
      @ScottHermanFitness  4 місяці тому

      But if you start in supination you’re already getting what you would get from turning neutral into supination 😁

      I have a Cheat and Recover program with incorporates that - but it's important to do full reps too! Then finish with half reps when you can't do full ROM anymore - muscularstrength.com/cheat-and-recover

    Awesome, thank you. Just so I’m clear, hammer curls then don’t actually build biceps then? Take care! Peace.

    • @ScottHermanFitness
      @ScottHermanFitness  5 місяців тому +2

      Hammer curls place most of their emphasis on the brachialis (the muscle between your biceps and tricpes) and brachioradialis (forearms)!

    A video request: a video on how to get yourself motivated to want to workout? If you do this video request, please do it in less time it took you to make this video since your previous? A month in between videos is too long.

    • @ScottHermanFitness
      @ScottHermanFitness  5 місяців тому

      Yeah I've been super busy with working on my app WAGMI Defense - as for motivation, I can't really make a video on it, because motivation comes from within - you need to have that drive yourself and a goal you want to achieve to keep yourself consistent!

    Orry those 1/2reps work the upper part of the biceps & the bottom range works the lower part of the byceps & the full range does the whole bicep, so it doesnt hold it back ! Try it & you'll see!

    • @ScottHermanFitness
      @ScottHermanFitness  4 місяці тому

      Not true at all my friend - There is no upper or lower biceps - there’s only your inner and outer, or short and long head 💪🏻

  • @moe381
    @moe381 5 місяців тому

    Half reps are proven to give same gains if not more than your typical curl so why would you do something whats more
    Effort and less effective.

    • @ScottHermanFitness
      @ScottHermanFitness  4 місяці тому

      Don’t believe your fake natty influencers - full ROM should ALWAYS make up the majority of your training. Half reps at the end to burn out, sure, in the stretched position. But that might be 2 half reps, everything else should be full ROM
