- The 737NG is generally quite overpowered but in certain situation where extra thrust is needed there is a way to squeeze a little bit more juice out the engines! Welcome to the Bleeds Off Take Off Tutorial!
Today we’re in the ZIBO MOD in X-Plane 11, flying from Bristol in the United Kingdom to the Island of Sal in Cape Verde.
We’re right on limits with regards to our take-off weight and to ensure we have enough performance to take off we’ll need to conduct a No-Engine Bleed departure. This tutorial will guide you through the procedure.

The take off performance calculation ensures that you can accelerate with all engines operating, have an engine fail at least one second before V1, rotate and pass the end of the runway by 35 feet!
Bristol has a clearway which is an area beyond the runway which is free of obstacles and under the control of the airport, this clearway may be included in the length of the takeoff distance available.

Thanks for the amazing tutorial flightdeck2sim! You should do these tutorials more often. I got a few questions about this tutorial:
1. What happens if you do things out of order?
2. If you need to make an immediate return to Bristol, would you use autobrake 3 or max? Is autobrake 3 strong enough to stop the plane before the end of the runway?

The Accelerate Stop Distance was equal to the runway length so yes, if you reject at V1 you'll use every inch of the runway! Remember approaching V1 you're very go minded and in all cases the Captain must ensure prompt application of the RTO manoeuvre to ensure you stop on the runway!

hey captain, one idea of a very famous flight here in Brazil is Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, leaving congonhas (SBSP) going to Santos Dumont (SBRJ) 1 hour of flight, A319, A320 and B738 operate at this airport, SBSP has 2 kilometers of runway and SBRJ has 1.3 kilometers of runway, the most beautiful approaches made at this airport (and I think it would be really cool to do one of them in the video because they are the hardest) are the NDB B RWY 20L, RNAV W RWY 02R and the RNAV X RWY 02R, a beautiful approach that I think anyone would love to see!

Captain hello, here is my FAQ - at my old 80's we use tables and formula to calculate takeoff pref. I heard that FSX and XP don't support Airdencity Aghorythms so how it can be precise takeoff preferences: at the high temperatures at dep or approach in the mountain arear.

What does your before taxi checklist say to clear the lower DU screen before taxi? Is there a special reason for that being done?

The reason for blanking the lower DU is that if there is an issue with one of the secondary parameters or the engine fails the display "pops up" which gets your attention.

Excellent insight! As someone who's getting back into Flightsimming after a long while away, I'm curious how well this would work with the PMDG 737NGXu on P3D? Am I missing something with XP11?
Would highly recommend the PMDG NGX but XP11 is a far better core simulator and the ZIBO MOD utilises this by having a superior flight model and an ever improving representation of the real 737.

Awesome tutorial mate, I actually saw a Ryanair 737 use full length today at LMML! Curious, could you share with us your Active sky XP settings?
Hi Mike! Plenty of runway in LMML but with reduced thrust you usually have a longer take off roll.
My Active Sky is pretty much default I think, make sure under Wind Option (and effects) you have Override X-Plane turbulence ticked!

He means , that he climbs to the altitude which is still at or below transition altitude.
Great video! Is APU kept on only for air conditioning, or is bleed air also required for certain control surfaces or eventually anti-ice? I presume pressuraization isn't an issue since you turn on the engine bleeds long before 10'000 feet? :)

Wing Anti Ice must NOT be used until the Bleeds is back on and Isolation Valve is in the AUTO position. Engine Anti Ice does not require the Engine Bleed switches ON to operate, . It uses 5th/9th stage bleed air as required from the associated engine prior to the bleed valve.
The APU bleed can provide pressurisation until 17,000ft but if you haven't completed the after take off no engine checklist by then something is wrong!

It's kept closed to prevent backflow of bleed .

Captain, if you were to lose an engine after v1 at such abnormal conditions, would it even be possible to keep the aircraft flying?
do you have to use the APU to power the left pack or can you do that without APU (hence withouth any powered packs at all)?
so they are not turnong apu before start? i read that because of fuel costs and pollution and noise they cant

When you're field length limited the performance calculation ensures there is sufficient distance to accelerate with all engines operating, have one engine fail one second before V1, continue the takeoff, liftoff and reach a point 35 feet above the runway surface at V2.
Think I might just have managed it!

If the plane was empty and full reversers/brakes were applied AT or before V1 I think it would stand a slight chance
Based on the runway markings he had around 2000ft to stop which is quite right for a 737 on MAX AUTOBRAKE

if we rejected at V1 we should stop with 0 meters to spare (ASDA was equal to the Runway Length). It looks very tight but the 737 can stop quickly. Either way wouldn't want to do it!

To be honest I had once flight when Pilot T/O from kinda middle of the runway it wasn't cool for me cos I know how long this rwy is ... LOL but question when you reaching V1 and you saying it's still safe to stop did you had enough RWY left to actually stop?

Quick question, but I thought the 737-800 has a TO-B option that provides 27k thrust? I know for a fact its on the PMDG NGX/NGXu for P3D.
It's an option available from Boeing, neither the ZIBO MOD or the operator I work for has this feature.

Is it not usual at short runways to hold the plane with brakes, spool up the engines to TOGA and then release the brakes? I remember that my first flight many years ago started with such a take off. It was breathtaking.
Fcom says that this doesn't make so mich diffrence. But i think it still a good thing to do ..
No need to, I'd release the brakes just before pushing TO/GA in this case. There is a small line up allowance too! FD2S

@@flightdeck2sim Ah I thought so, I recently flew out of Malta to Manchester on Ryanair and I was able to speak to the Captain as we was boarding, I asked him about de-rating the aircraft and he also mentioned this app, it's nice to see it in person at least, hopefully we can get one for the Zibo one day, thanks once again :)
