If you are reading this, valve/steam are shipping them pretty quickly now. Purchased mine on January 9th and it’s eta is today the 12th and there’s no real waiting line anymore as far as I know🎉
I think he bought it before the restock which is why he made the joke of them magically coming back in stock
@@Bemis-zp7gw Yeah I heard. This comment was for whoever was reading it
Did it arrive?
@@demolicous I actually just set it up and played a few games on it. Not that it matters but imo this is the most comfortable handheld to me.
shipping is really fast. Im in canada and its coming from the states and already almost here after a few days.
Keep in mind that Steam Deck is designed to be a trojan horse to Linux for console users. It has consolized designed and feel to it but has a very low ceiling of entry into Open platform. Everything you do on Steam Deck will have you lead to tinkering and this is normal. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and screw it up. You have enough tools out there to adjust almost anything in Steam Deck.
imagine taking 3 week to upload a video
Imagine taking 3 weeks to download a video
@@thealdohernandez You wouldn't download a car.
Couldn't be me
Lol I just return my steam deck lol
8:30 i disagree few a few reasons. I feel like the user interface is pretty friendly towards people who just wanna game. Its as simple as using an xbox. It only get tricky when you want to do special stuff such as modding games, downloading emulators, and stuff like that. And I feel like the desktop mode is still pretty self-explanatory if you wanted to add discord, google chrome, or add another launcher. Great video dude! Wish you success.
I think he was talking about game compatibility being a issue that some people don’t want to deal, because with an Xbox who know a game will work on it but with the deck there might have some issues that may require some tuning that some people just don’t or can’t deal with
@NAme3896 you need to actively choose to find a game that doesn't run 100% of the time, the steamdeck store shows verified games, it's just the same as any other console
@@crashdude7589 yeah but with any other console you never even have the option to attempt playing them, with the deck if someone find a “unsupported game” in the store that they want to play it, that when it become an issue for the end user becomes now they want to find a way to get the game to run
@@crashdude7589 the problem is when you wanna run a game that doesnt run 100% of the time, there are a lot of games that run perfectly, but there are a lot of them that require tinkering. and a LOT of games require you to tinker with the settings at least to make them run well, which you dont have to do on a console.
@78137983Apple that's the thing, you don't find an unsupported game in the store, you have to go through a specific process to reveal games that are not supported to the user
Welcome aboard! Really cool stuff, I had a couple of good laughs! Aside from the fact that I disagree with you about the UX, one major thing to mention though: I would highly recommend learning about the "Golden 40" that leverages the 40Hz capabilities of the Deck's display. Inevitably, you'll often end up worrying if a recent release can run at 60FPS on there. The Golden 40 would massively help here: Due to the fact you can lower the panel's refresh rate to 40Hz through the Quick Action Menu, you are able to go for 40FPS instead of 30. Why you may ask? Despite a 10FPS additional payload to the Deck's graphics APU, 40 FPS is right in the middle between 30 and 60 FPS in terms of frame pacing - meaning a nearly-60 FPS experience. Try it out! If you want to see this in action, feel free to give an older video of mine a shot, where I tried to explain this comprehensively. Cheers!
Yeah I learned about the refresh settings I could change when I was trying to optimize running ryza atelier 1/2 and realized that running the screen to 40-45HZ massively help improve the the game stay more consistent
You need to learn to differentiate a computer from a Console.
I mean I see your point but to me it just doesn’t make sense to get a console when you can do so much more with a pc and in the video he said that he was trying to do too much that he couldn’t game
The nintendo switch oled functions better than the steam deck I had to tweak so much with the year 3 model I shouldn't have to do this
It's important to understand that a 7" Non-OLED 800P 60hz screen, is a good thing in terms of a mobile device such as this, anything larger is going to require more overhead TDP than the little 15W the steam deck can operate at, anything more is going to have terribly battery life, even less consistent framerate, the juice isn't worth the squeeze in terms of display, plus you can dock it and it upscales it's image well using FSR, I had mine docked to a 70" screen last week and it was running flawlessly.
Also don't expect Valve to "upgrade" the screen if they make a v2 or something like that, unless some manufacturer figures out how to make a really low TDP consumption OLED display it's not likely to happen.
You can even easily play older titles and indie games on native(!) 4k 30-60 docked on TV; so...
Cheaper QOLED when?
@@trevorhaddox6884 It's not a cost issue, well it's kind of a cost issue, it always is in terms of mass manufactured electronics, but mostly it's a thermal ceiling and power consumption issue, they'd need to figure out how to add additional more power hungry components and still keep the thermals in check so you're not holding a portable space heater.
@@trevorhaddox6884your answer
Why don't you buy it via steam ? It restocks daily, just have to check if it's available few times a day. Before holiday season it was always available for purchase.
He bought it before the restock I think
@@Bemis-zp7gwnah dude, I'am telling you, it restocks daily, you must need to double check if it available in USA, same in Germany, but it's rare to see "out of stock" message.
@@Bemis-zp7gw actually I think it's just a bug, I saw "currently unavailable", refreshed the page and it's became available.
In Malaysia my choices are 64gb deck plus 1tb ssd for around rm2.8k, a 512gb deck for rm3.5k, a 512gb gpd win 4 for rm3.6k, or a 1tb Aokzoe for rm4k... Rm1k = usd250.
Contemplating between steam deck and gpd win 4....around rm1. 1k difference for 1tb versions do both (diy upgrade for steam deck storage of course) I think I'll continue contemplating till zen 4 APU launches 😅
When i got my steam deck i immediately got an sd card and downloaded windows on it to turn it into a windows machine and it honestly works pretty well
Steam Deck has a reasonable library of games. Yeah, I can't play everything that I own on steam but a lot of the games that I want to play on the steam deck are compatible and from what I am seeing that list is only going to grow. Good video though entertaining, especially when you activated my google nest asking yours for something in the video.
Bro same
I've been gaming on Linux for decades, be prepared for lots of cool updates & games starting to work at a surprising rate.
There's room for improvements in almost everything right now. Lots of work on increasing speed & battery life. It's not just valve, it inherited a huge open source community.
I wouldn’t call 7000 verified games “reasonable”
I bought this over the weekend and I’m loving it
Man you had me laughing this whole video. I love your view on the deck. So may I ask what JRPG you are enjoying on it currently.
Had to send my steam deck back last week for an RMA, *I MISS MY BABY*
I feel like what people find out how enjoyable they are, it’ll be sold out quick
The Steam Deck is a handheld gaming computer developed by Valve Corporation.
Oh thanks i didnt know
Yeah he said that in the video
ah... a man of culture that suffers from the same illness as me. using their gaming pc to watch porn and not actually game XD. but in all seriousness i feel like i enjoy gaming more on the deck than my pc because i remember as an 8-12 always having a gameboy and being able to play wherever and however i wanted and the steamdeck gives me this and much more. and its even better because i just stream the games from my pc to the steamdeck with moonlight and get max fps and max comfort. and in the event i actually go outside and touch grass i just emulate games.
nice review!
New drinking game just dropped, watch five Tech140 videos and take a shot for every self-degrading and hentai joke. 10/10 as always
Aloha I enjoyed your funny amd thoughtful content! Keep up the great work! Subbed.
great video and hella funny
I have to say, Windows PC handhelds have their own set of issues you will need to resolve. Most have portrait displays (like the Steam Deck) and this breaks compatibility with older games while SteamOS handles this automatically. Some have an easier time of changing TDP than others, some could use fixes to their audio (the Aya Neo Air Pro had one of its speakers out of phase), etc.
Honestly, the Steam Deck is probably the easiest one to deal with, but in general I wouldn’t recommend any PC handheld to someone who doesn’t want to tinker around at least a little bit. It also just makes it way more useful. Steam plugins and Emudeck are awesome!
The ebay prices are high on the steam deck because it's not available in all markets. So people that can't buy it in their country yet would be tempted by that.
when best 3ds of 2023?
Valve said the length is on purpose, it’s based on the size of screen they chose from the start.
We don’t need more reviews on this, we all know whether or not it’s worth it. Just buy your switch and enjoy it
Just got mine today
Got mine over the weekend how you liking it?
@@enriquejr7834 the little amount of time I've had with it (work is kicking my butt) it been amazing. Can't wait for the weekend to dive into it better and get some emus running
Newegg sells it for $125 for 4 months using zip
Steam is works better than the windows side. I still like dual boot
Time to watch hent.. i mean anime on the deck
Hi frst
subbed you absolute mad laddd
why you had to buy it from ebay
Nice writing and execution
Nice I have a tripple boot set up with my steam deck
A All in one dock with a integrated nvme with windows 11 ( so i just dock it and boots to win 11)
1tb On the steam deck with steam os
and a 512gb micro sd with a loaded batocera custom image from backups me
Haha, loved humour and approach here! Subscribed!
Where u buy the upgrade ssd
I’m on the same page as you
As you mentioned you were searching for JRPGs...
MaY I iNtRoDuCe YoU tO Panzer Dragoon Saga.
Jokes aside, for me it's one of those games of a genre I don't otherwise play but greatly enjoy on it's own.
Despite it's age, it's currently in my top 3 favourite games I played so far.
Commenting from my Steam Deck, with a nice "backup copy" of PDS ready to play with Mednaffe.
I have my steam deck and the user experience is awful when you install games anywhere (SD card or the internal storage) your internal storage will be filled up with “Other” files. These files can not be deleted the other files are 1 GB per game and even if that game is deleted it stays on the internal storage . Now you may ask why does it even matter well once the internal storage is quickly filled up once it reaches 0 Bites and yes it does say 0 bites if you install any new game you will not be able to instal any of them then if you uninstall a game that was previously installed it will double the files for the certain game. This is horrible and valve haven’t even talked about it or plan on fixing it
I have 800 games in my steam library. I imagine that I would need to know nothing about technology if I only ran those 200 games that have been tested and found to be 100% compatible in my library. Those games would genuinely work out of the box just like a console game.
When I go on my pc i play one game for an hour, then just do some random school work, maybe some random 3d model, game something again
Thank you for causing both my Android phone and my Google Home to activate and shout at me at 9 in the morning.
Just subbed to the channel. I relate to ur journey in this video since I went through a very similar experience. Love my steam deck.
U should increases ur swap file to 16gbs and the swappiness to 1
You can use steam deck to watch porn too though.
Nice videos was gonna sub but then you set off my google hub
Does it play videogames
No, only board games like chess and monopoly sadly. Massive oversight from valve TBH.
I subbed because of your tao chan keyboard
Psu clementine is awesome on the steamdeck
about to get mine in 6 hours
I get mine tomorrow I can’t wait bro 😭
Ordered mine a couple of days ago. Which model did you go for?
@@ghost665 I went with the 256gb model. How about you?

Getting mine next month
I bought mine a little less then a month ago but I got one question for y'all new buyers, are you getting the little pouch that's supposed to come with the steam deck?
It's extra only for 512gb model
@@Niver0 Ty for letting me know :)
Ltt bag only at lttstore
Smart man for this purchase I plan to get the mid-level this year! ✊🏆
I just wish they would’ve used an OLED screen
PS5 & Xbox Scalpers have really ruined gaming overall quite a bit though I can see why you don’t really like playing games anymore.
You can’t even get a special theme OLED switch because of all the greedy demons 🤦♂️
Play dayz
Great video. I agree that it is not for everyone, I was thinking about getting one for my sister but decided against it because of all the little finicky aspects to the steam deck and she is a Mac+ switch user. Luckily I ended up putting that money that would've gone to the steam deck to build her a real PC!
it's not a 720p screen but a 800 because it's 16:10 and not 16:9
He said that it was a 720p class display because that what it is, 800p is essentially the same as 720p just taller, being 1280x800 instead of 1280x720 so in terms of PPI it’s basically the same
@@Bemis-zp7gw Yes you are right, it's just the total amount of pixels is obviously not the same
I got one to and sold it soon after, the device is a pile of GARBAGE. So so chinky and UGLY. The worst device EVER
sarcasm?
