how did you feel about the reveal??
Expected, so not happy. He’s exactly who it should be. But they shouldn’t have made it so obvious.
I'm fine with it. It was obvious, but they didn't exactly hold it back for the finale as some huge, shocking reveal. He even indicates via his words to Mae that they were expecting a lot of people to have figured it out.
The shocking elements of the episode were more around who didn't make it out, for me.
@@thomashobbes8786 I personally think it was hidden pretty well until episode 4 ending. Not the biggest mystery in the world but it was good enough for a hidden identity only ment to last about a season.

Pretty sure it wasn't supposed to be a surprise. It was so obvious. They weren't even trying to hide all the clues.

Jecki put up a great fight for a padawan
Yeah, she had that Obi-Wan/Ahsoka padawan potential where, had she survived this fight, I could have seen her going far in her mastery and career. RIP
plush he did get buff if you see his musicle
She didn't just do well for a padawan. If we're going by "in universe" metrics, she seamlessly blended 2 lightsaber styles while using force augmented movements against someone who was on par with a master jedi and took on several full-fledged jedi without breaking a sweat. She didn't hesitate after getting her saber short-circuited by the cortosis bracers. All in all, she handled herself admirably, and it makes me sad that we'll never see her full potential. 💔 RIP Jeckie

I was devastated. She fought so hard
Dafne revealing she played the ever lovable Jecki (who was 18 at the time of her murder,) as crushing on Osha in a interview after the series premiered, knowing it would give the shippers false hope that maybe something cute might actually develop between Osha and Jecki, or even between Osha and Yord only for both of those ships to be brutally sank by episode five is peak Star Wars energy and peak bury your gays energy.

I called both deaths a few minutes before, sad about Jecki, that was brutal and she was epic, even though I didn't like her at first because she didn't trust Sol's acceptance of Osha. And for that reason I did not care one bit that Yord died.
I never thought for a second this show would dare to kill off jecki and yord
I knew both had to die early on.... And called it just before it happened. Byebye Yord, RIP Jecki....

This episode was remarkable and ruthless. The lightsaber battles in this episode were some of the most impressive in the Star Wars franchise.

The writer of episodes 4 and 5 said that it was written as 1 full episode, but the Disney producers decided to cut it into 2. It explains why episode 4 ended so abruptly.

Amazing episode. I quite love how every series is making a effort to show how different Force users have their own lightsaber fighting style.

7:16 Her name is Jecki Lon. She is played by Dafne Keen (Laura/X-23 from Logan).
7:40 Jecki was born 150 BBY, making her around 18 here (Dafne is 19 IRL).
13:30 This is 100% correct. It's how the Sith stayed hidden all the way up until Order 66 happened. There were a couple instances where the Sith were nearly discovered to still exist a bit too prematurely, but all witnesses (including any Jedi) were all killed. So that makes me doubtful that *anyone* is going to survive this series. Canonically, if anyone survives, the Sith would be exposed way too early.
Unless something else stops them. Depending on who survives, their attempts to warn the Jedi could be dismissed as overdramatic. I am curious what cover up comes for the death of these given Jedi. Killing them is one thing. But he is using a saber and saber wounds are distinct. So if someone comes snooping, it is going to be known in that extent that the advisory was of Jedi origin. Prior to this event there is mention that a "former Jedi" could be behind everything so... all that is left is to set up a scapegoat and ditch the area before the Jedi look too far into it.
But there is a possibility a witness or two is left alive and just ignored. or suffer some sort of brain injury and can no longer attest to the chain of events. Idk. We will see.

What about Ki Adi Mundi?
Mae doesn't submit to being arrested despite committing to turn herself in, in the previous episode because she knows if she does she'll die by her masters hand.
Cortosis is the metal that qimir is using it is lightsaber resistant and causes shorts in lightsabers. Also he didn’t say he was a “sith” he said “the Jedi would call me sith”. There still could be a sith master out there. Qimir could be an apprentice and is probably looking for a “acolyte”because he is planning on over throwing his master.
He's definitely a Sith Lord, apprentice to them is an Acolyte. I think Manny even confirmed this in an interview.

I have to say it was a really nice touch adding the Cortosis armor in the mix to the light saber fighting.
Most of what he said is true. He could be the friendliest guy in the world, but using the dark side the Jedi would come after him. I expect he's being honest when he says he's not a sith and just doesn't want to be persecuted for existing as a dark side user.
I don't think Qimir is a Sith, though. However, I do think that he has trained under one, but also was trained by a coven of witches. When he said, "I have no name", could mean that he hasn't earned the title of Darth, at this point.
What he said to Sol about "Jedi like you might call me Sith", but before that he simply said, "I just want to be free to use my power as I want". This is implying that he DOES use the Dark Side, but because of the rules the Jedi have made, "I can't exist" means he would either have to stay hidden or be killed, thus NOT be "free". Remember what the one mother said in episode 3 "It's about power, and *who is allowed to use it*". So, basically the Jedi don't want any competition to their use of The Force/The Thread, and will arrest/lock up/kill anyone using it without their approval.
Enough with this cope. He's a Sith. ACCEPT IT.

@@firstlast-wm3li Honestly, I think the whole "Should the Jedi have that right or not" (to dictate who can use The Force/The Thread and who can't) is the entire basis for this series. I'm not sure what made me "latch onto that line" when I first heard it (in one of the trailers).... but for some reason, it stood out to me.
Also, as you can see, if I learn that I am incorrect about something, I can admit to being wrong/erroneous, without getting upset and blaming someone else. ;)
So, I'm open to any discourse you might be interested in, without being a twat in doing so. =D

Reveal was way too obvious, but I'm still happy. Manny Jacinto is rocking with his character. Going from a calm guy, to a horror villain, to a psycho, back to calm guy in minutes. He also did all stunts by himself.
Jecki had so much potential, sad that she got snuff out so young.

That actually looks quite fun - why is everyone hating on it? I don't understand.
I am honestly convinced most of the hate is not for the show in of itself, but the handling of the show on media. The show took fire for trying too hard to be diverse. The original argument being that the consumers are really not that concerned with the diversity as they are with the story. Then episode three came and and I have to agree, it was simply confusing. It left more unexplained than it did explained and some people got upset because the twins in the series just feel like a re-hash of Anakin and take away from Anakin and how unique he was. (That last bit is BS to me) Outside of the show, publicity for Disney is what has shot the hate up. People who have worked on the show have again doubled down by insulting and alienating their audience and rejecting the criticisms. And in light of the video leaked by Elon Musk of Disney employees outright admitting that Disney is hiring based on race and the possibility that have been violating federal law... I don't think the hate is really about the Acolyte anymore. I think Disney has dug itself into a far deeper grave than that and we will soon see the ramifications for this.
This episode has gotten my interest quite a bit. Fingers crossed the momentum keeps up, In the meantime... idk what will happen to Disney.

Manufactured hate by people who profit of rage bait clicks. A small number amplified by social media and technology. IMDB identified at least 10,000 newly created accounts review bombing any show or film with Acolyte in it's name. In other words bots. It is both pathetic and worrying.
@@adambrewer4460 I like it honestly. I expected a total garbage but was surprised. It is not top notch, but isn't as bad as some people make it. But of course I respect opinion of those who watched it and still didn't like it.
Still, 13% or something on RT is way too low in my opinion. It has pretty good fight scenes, story isn't super good but at least okay, actors (especially for Sol and Qimir) are doing a good job, and special effects don't look cheap.

Savage neck snap I wonder what they used for the sound effect ? The time lines out the window if he is a Sith Lord. Unless Tenebrous is his master. But then why is he looking for an Acolyte before he challenges his master. Mind you Darth Zana did the same before she killed Bane
Some musical cues and his own comments point towards possibly being a Knight of Ren who were hiding out in the unknown regions at the time and hated rules, so separate from Sith but equally keen to avoid the attention of the Jedi. I'd prefer that than yet another Sith, they need to expand from just Jedi v Sith all the time.

On a scale of to ten I give Night an Editor's Choice 9.3 out of ten for The Sith who Laughs vs the Jedi, action choreography, Manny Jancito unhinged and terrifying performance as The Sith who Laughs on a side note the helmask design is the inspiration for The Knights of Ren my only criticism is the death of Jecki Lon
I highly recommend reacting to X-MEN '97. It's probably the 2nd best show Marvel's ever done besides Daredevil. And if you haven't seen Daredevil, you should totally react to that too.

I am super impressed with Jecki. She went out like a boss. She fought better than 8 full on Jedi Knights. RIP. Also, I’m bummed Yorde died. I thing there was room for a lot of character development for him. I didn’t like him right now, but it would have been awesome to see how he develops if he ever discovers the Jedi aren’t infallible and can be wrong sometimes.
I don't think Mae meant to say those things about giving herself up, I think she said that to force the Master to reveal themselves, and then got surprised that she was right and he was actually nearby. I'm not sure though because then they started hinting even more that she does want that to a degree.

When I saw a cilp on the Internet entitled:" Qimir kills Yorg", I assumed Qimir got a lucky shot as Yorg and the others were duelling the Master and helped Him out.

"Impossible, the Sith have been extinct for a millennium."
So, based on this statement, all characters must die, or it won't make sense. No one is allowed to survive at this point. The fact that he claimed to be a Sith, even if he’s lying, is a death sentence. Alternatively, Osha might become the new apprentice. Additionally, the Jedi Council or anyone in the temple can't find out
As for Qimir himself.
I have a feeling that Qimir isn't actually a Sith but rather the first Knight of Ren (we saw them in the sequels). The Knights of Ren didn’t do much in the sequels, but they are an interesting faction especially in comics. If they emerged from some schism within the Sith Order, that would be intriguing.
Or he could be a Rival Sith.

As much as that would be very fun, especially because Star Trek is far more consistent in terms of quality, I don't think Emme is going to want to sit through over a thousand episodes of television in addition to 13 films. And the definitive watching order for Star Trek is also a LOT harder to figure out.
But Emme, if you ARE reading this, watch Discovery seasons 1 and 2, Strange New Worlds (and also a few key episodes of the original series to watch alongside it, like Arena, Space Seed, and Balance of Terror), then the rest of the original series, the animated series (if you want to suffer), the first six Star Trek films, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, while also making sure to watch the Next Generation films with those shows when they fit, Enterprise, Lower Decks, Picard, Prodigy, the Kelvin timeline of films (09 - Beyond), and then seasons 3-5 of Discovery.
This is, in my opinion, the best viewing order. Rather than having to watch the series get better through release order, you do a little bit of chronological order and release order simultaneously ensuring that you don't really get anything spoiled for you. Enterprise takes place a long time before any of the other series or movies, but there are things in it that are best saved for AFTER the other shows up through the 90's (namely the appearance of certain alien races, and the additions it makes to the lore that can enhance or be enhanced by the viewing experience of other shows.
Some shows are also still coming out, and I'm sure there will be more shows and movies in the future, but this is the best viewing order in my opinion. Not definitive, and not what I've been doing with my mom and her boyfriend, but the best.
I grew up watching Star Wars (Revenge of The Sith) and only recently, during the lockdown, a friend introduced me to the Alien and Predator franchises. I became OBSESSED.
I don't know if this rings true to most SW fans but I feel like it's very easy to fall in love with the Alien universe as a SW fan.
@DarthTingleBinks 600 hours. Remember that pre DSC Trek was routinely 45 minutes with TAS, LDS and PRO all being around 22 minutes
@@bemasaberwyn55 That is true, BUT, many of the older live action shows, despite having shorter episodes, had at LEAST twice the amount of episodes per season that current live action Trek seasons do. And 600 hours is still A LOT. I'm not even sure Star Wars even comes close to that considering how short most of the shows are in terms of both episode count and runtime.

Also quite interesting to see the shallow enjoyers of overly-choreographed fights in a franchise that didn't really needed them originally, as the weight of the conflict was the core of the story. Not flashy lights and death of unimportant characters (script issue).

Or the Star Wars Rebels with the Inquisitors. Or The Return of the Jedi, Vader saber throwing at the catwalk where Luke was standing on. In short, yes, they can use their saber as a boomerang by using the force. It’s even shown in an old 2011 video game trailer named “deceived” in the Star Wars Old Republic, Darth Malgus boomeranged his saber twice. Another trailer “Return” where a Jedi Master saved his Padawan with his boomerang saber.

It’s a shame that Amandla Stenberg just didn’t care enough to act and emote, because this episode could have been alright.
Seriously, watch the scene again where she is confronting her sister for the first time in 15 years, and appreciate how monotone, boring, and emotionless her line delivery is for both characters. Acting is more than saying the words.
I have/show more emotion when seeing my dog after I’ve been gone for a week, than either of the sisters had during their “you did this to yourself” scene.
