  • Hi guys, I decided to make a concise, stand alone resin safety video instead of having it "hidden" in my Resin For Dummies Series so people will actually see it. Also I've added more updated info on this subject! Please take safety precautions seriously when working with resin!!
    Here’s a useful info regarding different filters for respirators: multimedia.3m....

    IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please ALWAYS use resin with proper precautions including wearing proper PPEs (glove, mask, respirator etc) AND working in a well ventilated space. I recommend getting a hold of the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) info that every resin company has available to the public (by law). This has all the info about the resin you are using including the precautions you need to take and first aid care. Watch my resin safety video for more info: • RESIN SAFETY | Importa...

    Why do I use two different types of resin in my projects?
    I use a casting resin to cast and a doming resin for doming.
    Casting resin is usually low in viscosity and works very well in molds without much issue with the bubbles. Also the low viscosity will allow the resin to reach detailed area of the mold. Doming resin is thick in viscosity and holds its shape very nicely. It creates a full dome and tends to hold the surface tension much better than low viscosity resin. So lower risk of the resin dripping off the sides. It also gives the piece a smooth, flawless finish.

    Great video, well done! I wear a 3M respirator like yours, nitrile gloves, and long sleeves. Another point you brought up is about the hardener. If you heat your resin to avoid bubbles, only heat the Part A (resin). Part B (hardener) is full of dangerous chemicals. You don't want to increase the fumes by heating it. Heat the resin, add the hardener, and mix. It is SO IMPORTANT for people to heed this advice. My first week or so with resin, I took NO precautions. I learned FAST! You covered all the important stuff. Thanks for the GREAT video!

    • @AmyMade
      @AmyMade  4 роки тому +5

      JBKonsCreations well I work with resin where I sleep. Unfortunately I don’t have a choice. And I’m sure many people don’t have the option to have a dedicated room to craft either. This is why i use the window fan and have it on while working with it and while it’s curing. Also I try to pour resin in the day time so by the time I go to sleep, the resin is cured to a solid state. But yes, it’s best to have a dedicated room for resin crafting.
