I was lucky to be at this Prom and this was a beautiful and very moving moment. Charles Castronovo has a wonderful voice and his performance was full of emotion. Afterwards, I met him at the stage door and he was absolutely adorable.
I came across this when surfing through youtube and I'm glad I did. Romberg wrote beautiful things and this rendition is one of the best. I hadn't heard of Castronovo or heard him sing. What a voice! Extraordinarily fine talent.
This has to be released as a recording it is absolutely wonderful... one of the greatest love songs of all time, a voice full of feeling, passion and colour, an arrangement that surely cannot be bettered and an orchestra of the highest quality that is bringing all this wonderful music back in to the public arena and filling concert halls all over the UK to standing ovation.
A truly beautiful tenor voice, good technique, great control, but Mario Lanza owns this song, so much passion and always thought his ability to adapt his singing style when singing popular sings he made it sound so natural and effortless.
