Good one... Loved it ! very good tips for New Zealand Mari. Back in 2007 I had to declare my hiking boots at customs. First, I did not understand why. but it is indeed very important for New Zealand to keep plants spores, and other species outside the country. Think about this! take new or very well cleaned shoes with you. and if you are not sure, report this to customs. they will then clean your shoes for you. Thanks for Mari.
Great list! I learned something new about the shoe inspection thing in New Zealand! I made the mistake of wearing jeans to hike once. It was NOT a good day 😂😂😂
Loved this video so much Mari! I’m travelling for a year in January 2019 but would love to see what you would recommend for SEA and Australia? I know roughly what to bring but seeing them modelled provides such good ideas! X
Hi Holly! Here's an old video of what I packed for SEA but I'll try to make more like this one for other destinations! ua-cam.com/video/KnS6UoNNgEE/v-deo.html
And don't forget sunglasses. 😎 They'll make your life much easier when the sun is low and you have to drive a car or you are there in winter, in an area with snow and the sun is shining from above and the snow reflects all of it. Without sunglasses, it can be really uncomfortable - even dangerous sometimes.
Tips from a new zealander. Ditch the long pants if you want to blend in, shorts are no. 1 snow hiking gear. mid thigh or higher, for all genders. Dont forget your 10 dollar warehouse hoodie. Oh, and those hiking boots are FAR too fashionable. Get some brown ones, they dont show all the mud. Yeah dont get light hiking boots. DONT. also, if ur buying a tramping pack, get a pack fitter in the store to fit it and adjust it for you, otherwise you will die. Trust them. Theyre nice. Will help with anything. They are the all in one knowledge books for anything to do with outdoors.

Good tips. Good reminder about " Clean " shoes and New Zealand's NO alien species Policies. Fleece works for me here ( Canada ) I luv it for travel.
