I literally just spent Tuesday night at South Bald rock by myself too! I did a loop from Bald Rock Creek over Mt Norman then past Stone Cottage and Middle Bald Rock. The next day I returned via the northern route following the creek and then turning west to the creek trail and Underground Creek and Dr Robert's Waterhole. That second day was reaaalllllyyyy nice walking!
@@adam_hikes if you follow the fire trails north to north-west then you should join Mt Norman Road near Billy Goat Hill, then just a little further North you can head out towards Junction Creek.
Thanks! Unfortunately I didn’t record the route however South Bald Rock is fairly easy to navigate too, just following the fire trails. I hope that helps 👍
@@AaronGrayOutdoors How did you find the fire trails? Are they on the nat park map or a topo map or something? Do you normally have to plan your own route to get to these remote bush camps or is there normally some kind of trail?
@@Noah-Murphy The fire trails out to South Bald Rock are on both the national park maps and topo maps (including the topo apps for your phone - Gaia for etc). You shouldn't have any navigational difficulties getting out there. It all depends where I am going; some places I camp are entirely off track and therefore I need to plan the route before hand. Thanks!
@@AaronGrayOutdoors Ah nice ok that makes it easy. Yeah I'm just starting to use Gaia now - just got back from Mt Barney, attempted to join Upper Portals track to Midget Ridge, following the creek along, but can be hard to tell how easy the terrain will be to get through using topo/satellite until you actually get there - was really slow going rock hopping along and the banks were too steep to go around. What parks have you done some good off-trail stuff in SEQ? Girraween and Springbrook have been the only ones I've done where there hasn't been too much undergrowth to allow walking
The amphitheatre is the open room directly below the shark tooth. The only access is through the cave under SBR. It’s too difficult to explain the route, nor would a gps assist so will require some exploration to find.
Very nice video. I absolutely love Girraween NP, I go there as often as I can 🤙
Appreciate that cheers! Yep, I’m due for another trip soon.
Awesome Aaron, that sunrise was all time! You were so lucky. Nice drone work cheers
Thanks! Yep, it’s probably the best sunrise I’ve experienced to date. Incredible for sure!
Love it there's a storm brewing behind us , let's go camping hahaha.
My mate and I call it extreme camping.
Beautiful spot.
That’s the best way to do camping, haha! Thanks heaps; it is a great spot 👍
Yeah mate you’re not wrong, I love girraween just so different. Good to see you out there doing it. Stay safe brother 😎
Definitely. Cheers mate! You too 👍👊

Awesome! Yep, that's a great loop. Girraween is definitely one of my faves.
from south bald rock bush camp did you just follow recourse creek the entire way up till you rejoined the track at underground creek?

Thanks bud, appreciate it!
Came here twice when fruitpicking in stanthorpe 20 years ago. 2 amazing days
It’s certainly a great spot. I think I’ve been out there twice this year. Cheers David.
Really nice! Do you have a Strava or gamin map that’s shows the track you did? Thanks

Wow, rrally great video, Aaron! I bloody love Girraween! You've made South Bald Rock my next camp at Girraween now haha!!
Cheers bud. I’d definitely recommend it, fantastic spot!
What tent are you using? Is it 20d nylon? Looks light as
I used the Dan Durston X-Mid 2P on this one. It’s a polyester type material. ~1kg from memory.
