that ...is...brilliant! i thought trying to make a kinetic sculpture would be a lot more complex ...this is great - thank you for sharing - love it! just subscribed to your channel!
Hi Rick, really enjoy your work. I would like to build one of these, hopefully this summer. If you have the time could you please put in the size of the paddles on this sculpture.
Nice! Good idea with the ball bearing, I made a weather vein one time ,and instead of the ball I drew it end down until it was spinning on a pin point. So even if it rusted up it would keep spinning. Thst was years ago, it is still working last time I saw it, (made it for a client) yours should too! Wow you have a lot in a small shop, I guess I should stop complaining about mine not being big enough, I have at least 2x the room you have!
@@RickRabjohn problem is, it is never enough..... I have slowly worked my way up and it is always too small. You have made great use of every inch. Watching you work you are seamless, flowing... either that or you edit well!
ha ha well the edit buttun helps but everything in the shop is on rollers so I can configure the shop as needed. That said, is does take time to set it up depending on what's needed.
The goal I had was to keep it simple and inexpensive which is why I moved away from copper, brass, or aluminium....towards mild steel. The drawback to mild steel is the need to protect it from rust. Despite my efforts, I still get rust and need to touch up the paint about once a year.
@@RickRabjohn too bad, I would invite you over to have a beverage... it was 72°f here today... I do not miss the north this time of year! I was born in MI
Thanks for posting this, and thanks for the ball bearing tip! That will make my first one lots easier.
....Nailed it!!
Super Video, und coole Idee mit der Kugel, das kannte ich bisher noch nicht
All I can say is wow !!! Great job !! Thanks for sharing .
I would love to make a sculpture with my powertig. My wife would be so thrilled to have one in the backyard.

2X? I 'm jealous - I would love a bigger shop. Maybe someday.....

Came for the sculpture, stayed for the music. ✌🏻🇺🇸
Yes, this music was interesting & still got to listen to the forge work.
Thank you Sir
I wonder, how it will work in the Oklahoma wind.
with an attached warning bell, perhaps the sculpture could help - god bless you guys; your too often in harms way
Nice job👍🏻😎👍🏻
I have a tray that plugs into hardy when storage space is needed
Good
It would be in my yard. 😉
Thank you!
Can u send link for the ball bearing bit I got sent a washer
Nice job what size pipe did you use and what size round round stock did you use for the cups thank you
The pipe is 3/4" inside diameter, the solid round shaft is 5/8" and the arms for the paddles are 3/8" dia. good luck with your build!
@@RickRabjohn thank you for the reply
What type of welder do you use?
VARY NICE VIDEO
What type metal do you use on the blades
all mild steel for the blades it believe it was 16 gauge

What’s the 2nd song on the video?
I build mine out of copper. About the same way.
You don't happen to be in GA do you ?
No - I am up north in Connecticut :-)

72 F - Lucky you - were moving south to DE later this year for better weather - too cold here.
@@RickRabjohn I don't think DE will be much warmer!! Try FL, or at least GA! Tons of cheap houses down here!
@@RickRabjohn maybe you will get a bigger shop! 🤞
so a single ball bearing does the trick?????????
yes it's that simple (for once) ha
