  • Thanks for stopping by Tom Did It.
In this video I replace the Aprilia RS 2 stroke power valve (rave valve) and control cable with a new aftermarket model. I also make my own power valve gasket.
    Enjoy.

Thanks for the great videos! I recently acquired a 2009 RS125 with a whole 110kms on it! A friend bought it and it somehow ate the second gear. He dropped it off for me to fix but quickly lost interest in it and sold it to me cheap.
I rebuilt the engine and trans but forgot which way the power valve was oriented.. this was a big help :)

Great video very informative....I've got two rs 125..a 2006 and 2008....the difference in performance is remarkable, the 08 being much more powerful and the power band is very noticeable on the 08...I suspect the pv is not operating on the 06....how can you tell if the solenoid is working correctly whilst I have the tank off....?

      Hi there.
Yeah. I’d be checking the PV is optional with the tank off. You will visually see it working then👍
      Thanks for watching!
      Cheers

I have an 03 model myself, when i bought the bike it was with a plan to fix it up. After som trial an error i realized the top part of the rave 1 cm below the groove for the cable, had snappd, straight across so it was locked in down position, i bought a replacement, and the next thing that happen was that the ball on the cable where ripped of. So on, i bought a New cable, and made sure the extension on the magnet where right, followed the manual excactly. Next to happen, the brand New wire did the exact same thing, ball torn of. I did then just removed the magnet, the vent and blocked the hole above the exhaust with a home made aluminum plate, that fits and seals Nice instead. No preformance issues as i noticed.

Hey, I have a aprilla sx 125 2 stroke. My Aprilla have the Rotax 122 engine and I was wondering if I can use the same power valve blade as you. Because i haven't found any specific power valve blades for the sx on pjme.

Hi Tom, what do you think of the pneumatic RAVE 2 power valve compared to the electric one ? thanks

      Michael, hi
I hear that the pneumatic rave valve works well and is adjustable (by air pressure). It also seems to work well on racing Go Carting applications. If my Rave solenoid ever breaks, I’d try the pneumatic model👍
      Cheers

      Hi Rick.
      Thanks for your comment.
All parts were purchased from PJME in the UK.
I’ll find the parts soon and add them to the description. I’ll be sure to reply again when they are there.
      Cheers pal

Hi could you tell me where did you buy the valve?

    • @tomdidit4216

G’day. Thank you for your comment.
I bought the valve and pulley cable from the very well regarded supplier PJME in UK. I decided to not use the OEM model as PJME claim their valve blade out preforms the OEM model….
If you have the time, I invite you to check out the PJME website. They have a list of Aprilia parts and accessories.
      Cheers.

@@tomdidit4216 Hi, thank you very much for giving me this valve information. Do you have any guide to adjust the solenoid? Or haven't you adjusted it?

    • @tomdidit4216
      @tomdidit4216  3 роки тому

      @@betaboy7826 Hi again.
I adjusted the valve so that when the solenoid is activated (pulling back) the solenoid moving arm is in the far back position and can't go back any further. You can test and adjust this manually before starting the bike. With the valve, cable and solenoid connected, simply pull back the solenoid arm and test the operation.
When set correctly, the valve should be in the fully open position and the solenoid arm should be touching the back of the solenoid.
