I'm having a weird moment here. This LOOKS like the Modern Rogue, it SOUNDS like the Modern Rogue, it FEELS like the Modern Rogue but it can't be the Modern Rogue because they... got it right....? Can't be.
There was one time, at a renaissance fair, I did an axe throwing challenge. We were given three tries, and I didn't hit the target on any of them. However, two of the axes became embedded in the dirt, handles first. I turned to the guy running the game and asked if I could get a prize for that. He turned and stared at what I had done for a solid sixty seconds, or so, then turned back to me and said "No, but that's legitimately impressive."
I got sort of the opposite story. In my college friend group, I’m apparently known to be the most “Midwest” whatever they mean by that. And we had an axe-throwing event at a fair in the nearby town. Being the first time, they all got on the target board but not accurate. And I’m on the side with 4/5 axes near the center and thinking “This is not helping my image.” So I’m now Mr. Midwest to them which I guess could be worse.
@@TheStrangerous okay, that's fair, but on the other hand, consider that it would be *excellent* content. Not to mention the absolute most hilarious way to reset the counter. Imagine. You sucessfully made every tree in a five kilometer radius fear for its life, danced with death and walked away unscathed, and yet, the manic gerbil man got head trauma nonetheless, and it's all on camera. Beautiful.
"Wherever you hit: 'That's where I was aiming!'" I know you guys have talked about the Texas sharpshooter's fallacy on the show before, but I didn't think it'd be applied so literally.
8:07 That moment when you wonder if they discussed Jason pretending to fail, behind the scenes, in order to lengthen the episode and increase amount of instruction..? "Nah, the viewers deserve a win...and we need one."
I went axe throwing with my half brother once, they taught us an underhand throw. It felt a bit awkward, but it was so badass to finally land one of those.
I don't know whats nerdier, that Justin successfully nailed an axe throw and said "Oya, Kandosii!" or the fact that immediately went... "That's Mandalorian..."
Some friends and I were just talking about trying out an axe throwing place that recently opened near us, and I gotta say, I'm feeling a lot more confident about it now. If these two can pick it up that quickly, then surely anyone can! X)
This is why I love axe throwing. It's so simple you just have to know what to look, and listen, for. It's also just challenging enough to not get boring. And I mean the inner viking just screams when you do it.
Brian's celebration of doing well reminds me quite a lot of Bert Kreischer winning a cheese burger making contest against Sebastian Maniscalco and handling it in a totally calm and professional manner. Not at all surprised by an unexpected result and totally kept his composure.
Brian's unbridled joy at having achieved "a perfect episode", chef's kiss Also, I will totally buy a Modern Rouge shirt that says 'Unprepared for Success"
I used to teach tomahawk throwing. It really is amazing how easy it is... provided everything is stationary. Throwing while running at moving targets, now that's fun.
So now that you’ve mastered parkour and axe throwing, are we going to see an episode on you guys learning how to flip through the air while throwing an axe, like a Russian Spec Ops?
I grew up in the country the sort of place where you just let kids go into the forest and shout for them when diners ready. Anyway I remember I had a hatchet that my grandfather had rehandled with me and I would just through it as hard as possible at a wooden bord and it would bounce back and hit me a few times, never the blade part, you know to complete lack of fear children have. Anyway eventually I learned to stick it at any distance by putting the right amount of spin on it, I understand why they didn't teach them that but it's much more fun because then you can land trick shots at any time.
Hot damn gentlemen, that actually was a perfect episode! Congrats to you and the crew!!!!! However, I consider every episode of yours to be perfect, so thanks for another one fellas!
And just when I thought axe throwing was a good way to get myself on the show 😂 Speaking of that. I have an Atlatl expert for you guys. He’s an Experimental anthropology student
Hatchet throwing, Florida man and wife, seems about right. The only thing that DIDN'T make sense is when the nice Florida Woman said "safety first" ... That phrase doesn't exist in Florida.
When I'd thrown a fireman's hatchet a school friend had 'acquired' some way (probably by his dad), I was side throwing it, left handed so it went in slanted. My 12 year old mind just thought 'I'll lean over a s**tload and then it'll fly straight!'....... I wasn't wrong neither 😂!! Once I'd got my distance and angle of leaning right, I could throw that insulated hatchet with such demonic, rage force that we had to cut it out of a tree a number of times. Damn, I wish I was 12 year old again with a fireman's hatchet, insulated to 20,000v. GOOD TIMES!!!
One time my coworkers and I got a bit sidetracked clearing a line in the forest (for digging the trench for power cable) It turned in hatchet trowing competition :P bets were made but I outright refused to participate in betting for/against anything. I think they were happy that I did as I was nailing all throws after the first that went handle first.
Brian, I am equally as proud of you for your second throw! Nice work homie! Jason, first and third? If y'all keep up with successes can this channel still go on!? Much lovie guys
Who else thinks there should be a crossover episode between The Modern Rogue and Good Mythical Morning? I bet their friendship dynamics would be very entertaining mixed together.

I'm as confused as you are.
I'm still amazed that this episode didn't take us all day.
It was a pleasure to coach the two of you!
I had no idea this episode was coming, but the timing was perfect as I have a hatchet throwing session scheduled for tonight. 😅
Jason Murphy, it's Friday the 13th... This is your opposite day.
Pretty jason will you be my friemd
You guys were great students!

For the entire 60 seconds he was just thinking “I wish I could give them a small prize but I think I would get fired “ lmao that is impressive though

PERFECT EPISODE!!! NOBODY LOST ANYTHING AND THEY LEARNED SOMETHING COOL!!
“Discovered how underprepared for success we are” - best quote ever!
Aw the best nostalgia hit, did axe throwing on my second date with my partner here in Australia, and we just celebrated two years together! 💕
Congrats!!
Brian jumping into Jason’s arms is something I didn’t know I needed
Me neither
This brought a bigger smile to my face than probably anything else in 2021. Love you guys!
I was expecting the injury counter to go down during their celebration. Would have been epic.
Brian trips and stubs his toe 😭
been having a rough week i just LOVE hearing the pure visceral joy from these 2 when they succeed. its like pure.
7:40 - That hug is too real, I can't handle the wholesome.

Pssh. You're giving us way too much credit.
honestly what happens when you listen to great teachers, the amount of information they gave in the first few minutes was amazing, good work rogues !
I went axe throwing with my half brother once, they taught us an underhand throw. It felt a bit awkward, but it was so badass to finally land one of those.
I kind of wanted to try that, but didn't want to jinx it.
There's an axe throwing half brother accident joke in there somewhere

Brian's victory-lap happy-dance was the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
i aspire to one day have a bromance as strong as brian and jason's
As a previous axe throwing league champion i find it awesome that they nailed it and made axe throwing look more approachable
Thanks for that!
I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope you all, along with his family, are copeing well.
