That little green seal that’s on the inner tie rod shaft, how important is that? It feel off on one side and I did know where it from, will I need to take it back part? Or I should be ok?
Hey, after a year I was wondering what the verdict of this was by chance? I had one split on me and I can't find another anywhere other than a complete PS seal kit but not for my Pilot.
Good video! But how did you know your inner tie rod is bad? I currently have a light but noticeable clunk/click in the steering wheel at lower speeds while turning. It doesn’t happen all the time but when it does it clunks a couple times per turn.
Well if they are basing their quote by what the book calls for, they Arnt lying. That's the reason im actually on here. I'm a shop service writer and the Book says to remove the rack, and calls for 4.3 hours of labor on the estimate. Im like no way, I can't charge someone that for a tie rod. So I had to see the process myself. Quoting a half hour of labor for this one. There are some honest mechanics out there, were not all bad.

Very helpful video! one question, shouldn't you unbend the washer before you turn the rod?
Yes! I forgot to do it but it still came off fine. I actually wrote about it on the video captions at the 2:12 mark. Thanks for watching!😎

Honestly I couldn’t figure out what that seal does either. I’m wouldn’t worry about it. Maybe someone else can chime in on it’s purpose.

@@fixinit Ok !
Great Job. Any do you know the torque specs for the inner tie rod?
65 ft/lbs
@@fixinit thank you
Shouldnt that outter tie rod end be sitting on the top of the bracket with the castle nut holding from the bottom? 🧐
Not for 09-15 Honda Pilots
@@fixinit right! Just saw rhat my ridgeline is diff thanks great video!
Why would you replace the inner/outer tie rods? My steering seems loose and in a turn at highway speeds, the steering wheels makes small movements…..
Your tires will wear faster and/or have uneven wear. Plus if the tie rod breaks, you’ll lose steering on that wheel. Not good.
A shop said it would take 6 hours to replace my inner tie rod! I was like wt f. F that. Sigh smh. How long did it took u?
About 2 hours
