GR-R-REAT Video! This video is a life saver for parents like me who can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars on maintenance and repairs. I recently purchased a 2012 Pilot with 174K miles so paying a shop hundreds of dollars if not thousands is a WIN. Moving on to the next video “how to replace brakes and rotors”
Thanks for video on the vtm. 2 things I'd suggest. 1. Prefill your new oil filter with fresh oil before installing onto the vehicle to avoid dry start/more wear. 2. Keep jack under the vehicle just incase of a Jack stand failure. 30 years of wrenching on cars and I just recently had a jack stand failure and truck slam on the ground. 10 seconds I wouldve been killed. Keep jack under car as a 2nd peice of mind. Nice video.
Absolutely, positively, yes - to both. I live in earthquake territory and was under a car at one point when the ground started moving. The stands didn't fail, but that's possibly *due* to having the jack as a redundant support (and since I had one of the wheels off, I would have been crushed). I was taught to release the vehicle to the stands completely, then give the vehicle a nudge (a push of 10 - 20 pounds of pressure) to make sure it was seated properly. Reposition the jack at some point where a failure of the stands would otherwise be trouble (eg. if the wheel is off, and the stands are under the frame, a good place for the jack might be under the exposed rotor). Once the cup of jack touches the contact point, apply only enough pressure so that some slight amount of the weight (by feel) is being supported by the jack, but NOT so much that any significant amount of weight is transferred out of the stands (so that they're doing their job).
An old mechanics trick. I'm 71 years old, and bought my first vehicle when I was 14. I was taught by an old time away back then if you have a hard time loosening a bolt or nut try tightening it first. For some reason this breaks the hold on it and you then able to loosen said nut or Bolt. I can say that it works 50% of the time or perhaps more. Of course every situation is different so you're MMV. Спасибо за видео! по поводу заднего дифа примерно так себе и предполагал, за что я люблю Honda за то что она простая и надежная, половину работ можно делать самому.
I agree, for oil change only I'd just use the ramps under front wheels. Since in this instance I'm changing both oil and rear diff fluid, I decided to go with this configuration.
You should run the engine for a few minutes to get all of the gunk in suspension. Run it for 5 minutes or so, not too long or the oil will get too hot.
Hi tuber I like ur professionalism just if u make an effort pease can u use the english title in order to understnd all what u saying it will be really awsome from u to add english title
I started doing this now, after previous comments and suggestions on the video - figured that it won't hurt. I wasn't too concerned about it, because I am filling up the engine with new oil after draining the old one and before starting the engine and letting it idle for about 5 min, letting the oil run through all the oil channels. I also checked the Pilot's maintenance manual and the procedure for oil filter replacement does not call for prefilling the oil filter with new oil.
In case you have someone else flush transmission fluid on your Pilot, and you want to make sure they really do it, you can compare the color of the fluid before and after the flush. New transmission fluid is bright pink and the dipstick for transmission fluid is to the right of the oil fill cap on your engine. Also make sure they use Geniune Honda ATF DW-1 for the flush. I buy mine here: amzn.to/2WSybjs
Also, be careful when flushing with any pressure. Especially when your pilot has high mileage on it. Lots of the pressure system used for full “flushes” end up actually dislodging some of the tiny metal parts and shavings in your transmission that can end up screwing things up when they’re dislodged. Better off draining and refilling than using a pressurized flush to replace your ATF fluid.
On my generation Pilot you will know when to change the differential fluid if the maintenance minder comes up with code containing "6". In this instance, the code was "A16". You can look up what different codes mean here: www.paragonhonda.com/service/service-faq/maintenance-minder-codes/

That don't look easy. If the shop does both the front and back transmission for the price of one, I just take it to the shop. Instead of just doing only one

Thanks for a very helpful video. I am helping a family member maintain a 2011 Pilot AWD, so this is perfect.

@@aaronshensky9385 Isn't when you pour the oil it goes to oil filter right away?
Nice job! This video was VERY helpful! Hope your Pilot is still running well. 👍👍
Very simple, you’re great work and professional thank you and I learned from you I got Honda Pilot Tourist 2009.
Excellent video tutorial ...GOD BLESS YOU
Well done. Clear camera angles and good lighting. Love the idea of using a drill to get the spare down faster!

Great job, well explained and done properly and smartly!
This is exactly what I needed! Great video!!

Great video really helpfull my friend
Great job
Excellent! Thank you.
Thank you, one less thing I can save money doing myself.
Great video
Hola una pregunta el aceite del diferencial es solo para las AWD
Where did you get that plastic oil pan with opening to pour into container..thats a nice spill proof pan?
I find it easier to dump 0.5 quarts out of the 5 quart jug and the dump the entire remaining 4.5 quarts in
Is this a different change than doing the tranny fluid? Both need to be done? I read some where about hypoid oil, where does that go?
I like putting ramps in front for oil change alot better oil drain at that angle an extra 16 oz iv,e found.

Peace be upon you. I hope you can help me. What if I change the oil on the 180000 . motorway?

Thank you! This was very helpful!
Is there a reason why you are not replacing the washers on the oil drain plug and the rear diff drain plug?
I only do it every now and then. Never had any issues in close to 20 oil changes I did on this Pilot.
I'm pretty sure those jack stands you have were recalled
You are absolutely right! Thank you for pointing that out 👍

YT has an english subtitle if you select he "CC" option beneath the video.
Thanks. So if i have a FWD pilot (2008) do i need to change the differential fluid (or that applies for cars thst are awd or4x4? ). Thanks
No, you don't have to worry about the differential fluid on the front-wheel drive model, since those don't have the differential at the back.
I have a fwd pilot 2015 and was going going to ask the same thing. Thanks
Здраасьте! Энд зис видео..🤣👍
*Why don't you PREFILL the new filter before installation to help mitigate the time the engine runs without full oil pressure?*

Should have done transmission fluid and transfer case at the same time as the diff
Might do those 2 items in a separate video. Maintenance code A16 didn't call for transmission and transfer case fluids (code 3 for this Pilot).
Hi how would i know if theyre really change the transmission flush in my pilot im.not there thanks is there anyway to check it

how many quarts of differential fluid do I need to do this job
2.64 L (2.79 US qt) for rear differential fluid change
no music
And how would i know if i need to change the differential fluid

All torque specs are from the Honda Pilot repair manual. You can find them online in PDF format.
