In this stitch along I will show you step by step not only how make the keyring tag, but how to:-
- Personalise the text using built in embroidery machine fonts. 4:03
- How to create the text.
- How to centre the needle to your hoop to stitch your text in exactly the right place.
- How to pick up the embroidery design you are making in the right place again after having stitched your personalised text.
As I used Simthread metallic thread albeit briefly in this stitch along I will show how to:
- Jury rig a thread stand using a plastic beaker, three elastic bands and a pencil so that the thread unwinds nice and straight.
- What needle to use.
- The settings to change on your machine to stop thread from shedding to get virtually pain free stitching with metallics (I say virtually because some of it depends on some brands of thread being more challenging).

I can’t live without my sharp stabby tool as I call it, is a clay sculpting tool. I bought it in my local craft shop. Amazon do sell them as part of a clay sculpting set but not individually.
All my other supplies are from Amazon including my large squizzors. They are actually aquarium precision pinch action scissors.
I use H2O gone FSL water soluble stabilizer or Brothread cut away stabilizer for my stitch outs.

Kay- are you using embroidery Mylar or just the regular Mylar like they use for the balloons
I use the sort that florists use. If you search iridescent cellophane on Amazon loads will come up. You can use the sort used for balloons too but they tend to be metallic colours rather than iridescent.

Hi sure I get my Mylar from Amazon. It's also known as iridescent florists cellophane. I hope this helps. Happy stitching.
what type of tape do you use? I tried several different types and they don't stick well.

Thank you for showing this Kay! I have been doin this for a while but did learn a couple of new tricks! What is the white object on the bottom right of the hoop when you are stitching?
You are welcome. My 4x4 hoop seems to vibrate a lot when I stitch with it and the noise of it vibrating as it moves is annoying and distracting in a video so I hold a bit of plastic on the hoop just to stop making too much noise.
@@KaysCutz oh, I see! I thought maybe you had some special tool for embroidering that we all might “need”. LOL!
@@bjerles no, I think it might be one of the bones out of my old back braces, I try and re-purpose things as much as I can. It is just one of those things you find something and use a lot because it is handy. I tend to use it to smooth fabric as it stitches so that I don't end up going viral by stitching through my fingers on film, it is surprising how quick that hoop whips round the foot to get you. lol

Where do you find the pins? What are they called?
Hi Lynn, they are called T pins and I get mine on Amazon. I find that the big 2" ones are best for hooping.
