Hi Derek. Good news on Old Stinky..... MOT's r usually so stressful as you say.... Will it? Won't it? Fuel filter done on LR, so that's another job ticked off the list. I've ad both my jabs now. Ad side effects with the first one, hot/cold sweats, headache, lasted 4 days. Second one this past Wednesday, fingers crossed no side effects 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 Look forward to the next video on the LR. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay warm. Alan L200
The plug on the bottom of the fuel filter is not a 'sedimenter', it detects water in the fuel, showing on the dash. We've been having hail with us today.
Hail Michael . . . ! Sorry, had to done . . . ! They call it a sedimenter in the Haynes Bible so I just went with it. Happy to report that the engine seems happier now.
That water indicator on my 2003 had a crack in it, so it weeped. I put the blanking plug on the new filter and never bothered to get a new indicator, too dear here.
Hi Derek, did you have to go through a process of cycling the fuel pump to get rid of any air or did you just drive it after changing the filter? Thanks
No, it's easy. Just switch on the ignition and listen to the pump. When the noise changes, start the engine. It's a bit lumpy at first then it picks up.
Hope you're keeping well mate, great video as always...👍👍
Cheers Leigh!

Thanks Alan! Yes, best MOT ever! Well done with the jabs. I'm hoping my second one will be better.

Hola Derek , ya llegó el buen tiempo para hacer cosas en el Discovery II - TD5
Hola Tomás, Sí, una vez que comience la temporada de lluvias no habrá tiempo para pintar vallas!
Thats just dirt build up off the road, the sensor detects water build up in the bottom of the filter and illuminates the warning light on the dash
Thanks David!

Big Lollopy did not have one either. Never bothered it!

Glad you're back be honest what a stupid place for a fuel.filter no room under the bonnet??
It is completely bonkers, that's why I fabricated a plastic cover. Seems to work, the oil I smeared on the chassis is still there!
My 04 model was not fitted with the water detector from new.
Big Lollopy did not have one either, but the wire was still there.
@@sleepycatpictures1176 same here I got no detector but still the wiring
@@puma-op New filters don't come with the detector, it has to be swapped for the drain plug.
@@sleepycatpictures1176 yea but the old filter doesn't have one either
@@puma-op Removed carelessly many moons ago no doubt. Have you tried ebay?
