Svetlana Khorkina looks so tall compared to everyone else. Googled how tall she is and she is only 5'5. Still tall for a gymnast but I thought she would be a couple of inches taller
Most of the gymnasts in Athens were 16-17, so before their growth spurt. In 2008 and after she would've been in good company with Izbasa, Ross, Maroney, Liukin, Ponor (during her comeback), Mustafina. Her body type made it look like she was taller than she actually was.
I think that Carly's score was overscored honestly. What I don't understand is why she didn't do a straddle up handstand instead of a regular handstand after that toe shoot. She wouldn't have taken the deduction for bending her legs on that cast. Props to her for getting through the routine though
Carly sort of had the same experience in Team Finals as Alicia Sacramone- Carly didn't fall, but neither performed to her own (or anyone else's) standards. She's phenomenal, though. Definitely deserved that AA gold. Courtney Kupets and McCool both came to my hometown's university team. I watched them both many times! Go GymDogs!

A lot of people talk about how the US should have used McCool on bars instead of Patterson, but if they’d just taken Vice in the first place she could have solved their problem on bars and beam. Nobody would have known what would end up happening though and at the time of selection the decision seemed correct.
Khorkina's personality is very entertaining, but I question anyone who says she's very elegant as a gymnast. I think it's said just because she's so long and skinny. She looks spindly and does not move gracefully at all e.g. on this vault. Flexed feet and legs all over. But no hate, she is always interesting to watch. She does not have good lines nor extension.
actually i do spend a little too much time on the net and i m a bit paranoid. as long as it's not too much for either then i m okay, i guess i make it up for not being on facebook or twitter at all now, but you should care that people are being biased or not because that would cause them to get things wrong like saying the commentators don't say nice things about foreign gymnasts when they do
Nikki Rebecca Carly was going for the All Around and there was no way they were keeping her off the any of the events. From what I understood Courtney had an injury and she didn’t participate. I do say that Carly cost us the gold but she did get a gold in the all around and the team did get a silver

Carly was the only US girl to put up more than a 9.5 on FX whereas all the Romanians did. tbh I think if Marta didn't want to use McCool she should've subbed in Tasha or Chellsie for UB/FX.
Bethany - she couldn't do that. Tasha and Chelsea were both Alternates meaning they couldn't be just subbed in at Martas discretion. There had to be an injured athlete for ANY of the alternates to participate. And,to me, Tashas bars just wasn't that good. Chelsea maybe...but again she was an alternate.
i feel bad for carly. She could have done better on bars, but you can't have her to blame for the second place finish. Everyone makes mistakes. Plus the Romanians are very strong on beam.

Rosu had bent knees, legs were apart and her landing wasn't clean. She didn't have the height or distance attained by Annia Hatch such a disgrace! The U.S commentators lied about Rosu being better---she wasn't. They don't argue scores for the black gymnasts. They allow them to be grossly underscored knowing the underscoring prevents the team from winning. If I'm the ref I protest the low scores and secure the medals. If I'm the commentator I will call it like it is give it to 'em straight. Racism is expensive.

Interesting, between vault and bars and beam, Carly basically counted the deduction of equivalent of 1.5 falls
