Tarkov is finally getting competition. This is great, they are being proactive now. I hope it continues, as they'll make the game better as a result of this.
@@ohara9965 Productive yes, but you have to admit. They have been working HARD ever since GZW got announced. Compare the changes between 2023-2024 to the changes between 2020-2023.
Idk about that. I don't think games start changing their methodology due to a game that isn't out yet and hasn't proven to be a competitor. Especially in this specific niche where games come and go all the time rather they look promising pre-release or not. Existing in the same market, doesn't make you a competitor by default. My theory is that Nikita has shot all of these guns, but has absolutely no control over them. Like, he shot a 9mm Glock and it sent him to the hospital with 2 broken wrists. That's the only thing i can think of for him to say "recoil is too low".
It's impossible to think BSG will ever have good communication with us when they can't even communicate within the company tbh. More than once in that interview Nikita was surprised about existing issues because he already told someone to fix it.
Man I was lucky enough to be in the path of totality for the eclipse too! Totally agree with what Veritas said! It was the day of my 21st birthday and it was the most surreal experience I’ve ever had!
I like the new ammo stats we got but im sad we lost the durability burn and heat modifiers we saw. There were a couple guns i would run suppressed and i would intentionally choose some ammos because even if they were worse damage and pen wise i liked being able to shoot more bullets without overheating my gun and getting a jam after the first two mags
The biggest fix to audio would be to remove directional audio from headsets. Left and right only. You should have significantly better directional audio when not wearing hearing protection than when you are, but gunshots, especially anything with a break and or short barrel should be deafening.
Listening to Jesse talking about games with good audio, I cannot help but wish he would play Hunt. Best audio in a game ever imo, and so much fun due to it.
Ill be on project l33ts second playtest which is the same day where pvp actually exists and is supported by the dev team. l33ts first playtest which was 3 days I had 115 kills. Would love to do a pvp kill check comparison after your 7 day ghost recon/ ready or not playtest. Thanks for having the creative director confirm what we already know at time stamp 1:05. i enjoy watching this cast sometimes, but man is it hard to see how passion filled jesse is about tarkov and then looking over at veritas and he looks like he fucking hates talking about this shit...i get he doesnt play to much now but a bit more effort durring the convo would be a improvement
If the raid replay is a stored till you ever the next match with the ability to download it and view it client side. When you enter the next match you lose the ability to download it. This would help with storing the last raid for bsg. Just have the available to dl on death screen and then it’s gone. Have it be like the old cod replays
ooh yes 3 body problem - I saw that netflix has a show out now. I read the first book. Its actually a 3+ part book series and that is even more intense! I guess I have to get a netflix account again to watch that :D
Great podcast, as for arena BSG either need to get rid of preset kits or just make people use the same kit so there is balance. If they're smart please look at the guns in your game find 2 to 3 ammos and armors that balance. We don't need the exact customization from eft something that gives freedom and is fair is all we ask. At the end of the day in arena you fight and use kits from the same tiers so whether it be level 3 or 6 as long as everyone has use it and have fast accessibility to it I think it's fair.(Just no Tarkov grind this is a arena shooter)
honestly if they did a season pass for every wipe with new cosmetics to earn i wouldn't even be mad. they could also add new event around the seasons. Just to add length to the games life. maybe they will do more with the dlcs later on down the line.
34:29 It's absolutely mind blowing how this just isn't how the game is. It's how every other game works, Dayz is a great example. I have whole heartedly never ever understood why the audio is the way it is. Why can i hear from 100 meter away someone take a single step 2 floors above me. Completely ruins so many aspects of gameplay. I hate that 50% of kills and deaths are solely because I heard someone or they heard me and you stand still then mag dump.
For performance enhancement, I personally believe they should try out the AI frame generation tool to allow anyone with a 40 series to get a major boost (assuming it works right in game). Couldn't hurt tot try and get feedback, and if it doesn't work then remove it in a quick patch.
Unfortunately here in Austin tx the terrible overcast completely ruined the full eclipse.. luckily I saw a full eclipse when I was a kid here in Austin
The Three Body Problem book is PHENOMENAL, haven't watched the series but heard they changed some stuff around, the book is where the shit get's real. Book by Cixin Liu in case someone searches for it and ends up finding a physics text book instead of the science fiction one xD Edit: cool Jesse's been playing DayZ! Love that game, there you can be a true sniper!
For Arena, why cant we just build our own kit tied to RUB and the higher it goes the cost and tier go up to use. Sights and ammo can be priced in groups or tiers like 1x scopes, acogs grouped etc..
I think a perfect example for the whole 'Hear Nothing vs Hear More' debate is Dark And Darker. DaD added the ability for all classes to move completely silently, when before, only the Rogue could do such a thing. They might as well have removed audio from that game. Raids are dead silent in the dungeon ever since that change. PvP essentially comes down to which team can hold sprint (Creep Button) the longest and make a little noise as possible to get the jump on people. I reverted to doing the exact same thing I do in Tarkov to get the jump on people. Hiding in dark corners waiting for sound queues. In my honest opinion, I think BSG needs to severely limit the ability of people to move silently, add a MASSIVE stamina penalty to crouch walking, and have it make more noise in general. Force people to make noise to move effectively, and make moving covertly a tactical choice. i.e.: "I can walk slower to get closer and then quickly close the distance when they least expect it" rather than "I'll creep this entire quarter-mile and one tap the dude before he can even know I'm here." 35:50 Something I'll add to this is that its also completely impossible to move dead silently in DayZ. Tracking players comes down to using the environment (Dead Z, Looted Buildings) and sound queues such as gunshots and.. when they get really close, movement, to figure out where people are. You can't crab walk and make less noise. You'll always make noise, forcing an action and making PvP encounters much more fun for both players as usually, unless you get sniped, you'll always have the opportunity to engage.
I agree with you, but at the same time headsets need to be nerfed so everyone can't hear each other 100m away. Noisier movement nearby, less detection range. Also, things like ADS and looting need to be quieter. You want people who are near enough to fight to be able to hear each other, but you don't want to encourage the "no movement" meta by making movement so dangerous that every time you do something you're sending up a "kill me" sign.
I think it would be cool if the persistent servers had the rules of something close to pestilys hardcore. Like, it would show it way way down and be difficult. Then, the character that wipes would be normal tarkov. Only issue is this would have to split the player base.
1:24:30 From the Pestily-Nikita interview, what Nikita was trying to explain to Pestily was the discrepancy between "headset hearing range" and the simulated compression effect of the tactical earmuffs, which attenuates sounds with high pressure and boosts quiet, distant audio. (IT APPEARS THAT) Nikita was attempting to clarify that, to invent a possible example, the ComTac 4s don't necessarily "hear farther" (as an audio listener in the game) than any other headsets, but that the processing that represents this particular model of headset (remember that these guys have to use studio DSP effects to emulate the real-world experience of wearing these things in-game) has a compression curve that (what people are arguing) over-represents audio from very far distances moreso than any other headset. Comtac 4s only sell to Ragman for 49K Roubles, not the outrageous 300K they go for on flea. This likely reflects that they are not INTENDED to be so much "better performing" than other headsets -- as everyone wants to call out, the intention has seemed to be that they are all "simply an EQ curve" -- but clearly more care is being put into designing these devices to accurately model their real-world counterparts beyond just EQ. I imagine this is an overlap in both EQ boosts in critical regions and upwards compression of distant sounds that makes hearing things on ComTac 4s more obvious to the human ear than other sets. What I think might be an interesting question is whether or not the in-game DSP processing of audio sources on the audio listeners is being disproportionately affected by, say for instance, an unusual audio signal path design in their audio pipeline (e.g., applying DSP before occlusion/HRTF is considered, etc), and thoughts like this make me wonder if the binaural audio bug is not a combination of these factors -- compressors do not function instantly, of course, and those 10-20ms windows of lookahead and attack/release timings are great opportunities for pops and clicks even in ideal studio environments. Or, perhaps, this is a Unity problem -- who knows how well this kind of processing is supported, or whether it's even accurate processing, as these are digital objects being simulated projecting sound into fake environments.
An interesting point you've highlighted. Is it possible to pull or record your audio and see which frequencies are elevated or lowered depending on the headset you're wearing? I've only seen videos from content creators on how the audio is "perceived" by the player.
I miss arena's first tier. Even more so, I miss the TT and Toz kits from before the tier system, I understand that everyone hates them and doesn't care about them, but I would like to see a system where people can play both without getting pissed
Solar eclipse is also the moment of "New Moon" The moon is invisible in the sky during the hours before the clipse. because it is shadowed. after the eclipse the moon is waxing into a full moon from that moment on.its so cool
I still firmly believe that once 1.0 comes out and they have a persistent and a temporary character. Wipes should be used like what path of exile does. If they have a new change that's big, give it to the wipe servers FIRST. If it's well received and get small tinkers through then lock it and ship it to persistent. If it's garbage and just kinda meh and needed massive work to be considered "good" then make it only for that wipe and it gets forgotten
Last year was an Annular eclipse, where the moon is too far away to entirely block the sun. This year was a Total eclipse where the moon is perfectly distant so that it eclipses the entirety of the sun.
i think jesse would piss himself playing hunt showdown, a game where people regularly use sound to pin-point accurately shoot u trough walls. Also u guys dont talk about athletic greens for over 1 hour.
He would probably piss himself from having a good time, because the audio about shooting people through walls in hunt WORKS PROPERLY. ITS ABOUT THE AUDIO WORKING PROPERLY, NOT WHETHER HE CAN INDIVIDUALLY HEAR ANY GIVEN DISCREET GAME ACTION GOOD FUCKING GOD LISTEN
Beautiful sight seeing Veritas absolutely dissapointed by the new changes to Tarkov. Jessie telling him about the Ambient noices or skill screen, but he knows that this game is bugged beyond comprehension and BSG isnt addressing the main problems
Sometime today they decreased insomnia from 30 to 25 so when i logged in i was done already. Sadly need shooter born on ground zeros now. Also tagilla tried sneaking up on me. Was funny
There's no point in having a server that regularly wipes, they should simply have the persistent server character with a prestige system and make escaping/prestige WORTH it so people are resetting themselves on a regular basis.
As a higher ranked valo player its getting bad atm, theres some exploits where people can load public detected free/easy to use hacks and get banned after a match or two its not detecting them/stopping the matches. So people are buying accs and boosting people by cheating and you dont always lose the rank points as well. (Dont get me wrong i still see less chaters than other games but vanguard has its faults. like current loophole being abused)
Incursion Red River and GrayZone Warfare minimum specs are too high for me to play. They both look great, but I guess my setup is now an inde-only titles PC.
Imagine how much Nikita could learn if he created an anonymous account and just lurked in a twitch chat while a streamer played EFT for a couple hours.
Haven't tried to listen to an episode of the pogcast in about two months because Veritas is such a negative-Nancy. And sure as shit, right in the intro and nothing has changed. Since this podcast is about Tarkov, Veritas really should be replaced by someone that still gives the slightest crap about the game.
1:41:40 exactly why I wanted to play Arena. I don't get meta stuff in Tarkov so I wanted that out of Arena, which up until recently I still couldn't get meta stuff😂 BSG just cannot design a video game.
@pogcast: if you guys read this, I disagree about the bouncing and aimpunch. No it's not too much right now. If you think otherwise, that's because you guys play agressive, because it only impact the so called chad, because they usually are the ones getting shot at, not the one taking the first shot. The vision of BSG have of the game, vision I share, it is supposed to be tactical, so they need to find a way to give more advantage to the guys who sees first and shot first. Aimpunch is there for that. And it's a bit blanaced with the fact that with the head of the shooter moving, it's harder to maintain proper aim, so aimpunch is balanced by that. I am curious to get constructive criticism about my vision.
Idk, not hyped for gray zone myself. What we’ve seen so far looks like ghost recon with tarkov healing… Looking forward to seeing non nda raw streams though, hope im wrong. I’m also not hyped for 1.0 tarkov - just all sounds like more of the same, one step forward and two steps back. I’m sure it’s been said before but I think I’d be interested if they went dedicated servers and opened up mod support. I’d love a more sandbox tarkov.
I think how they're going to do the two different types of servers will be that the persistent server is for your casual players. Simply because it's going to take a casual player 3 YEARS to finish the game and actually escape from tarkov LOL... so they kind of have to do that. Otherwise no one would ever escape from tarkov. And then the servers that wipe are for the Fast-Paced players such as streamers who want to do challenges and do hardcore stuff and things like that right.
My question is, why do we keep going to Nikita and hearing from him if he doesn't know all the bugs, fixes, and issues. Should we be going to the lead developer or a developer that know everything so they can actually tell us the proper stuff
It's Nikitas game. He'll do whatever he wants and we're giving him money to pay for his dream. Btw, if you read Gray Zone Warfare's Steam discussions, its devs are just the same. They don't want feedback. They'll do whatever they feel like and you pay for their dream. PS.: Tarkov's website states that if you buy stash lines "Other" version, it is intended for everywhere, but Europe. I live in Brazil so I bought this as a gift to a friend. It didn't work for my friend, who also lives in Brazil because so it happens his version of the game is Europe. Tech support basically told me to go F myself. No refund, no change region or upgrade region. I now basically have spent 42 dollars on a code that doesn't work and have no purpose to me or my friend. Again, their website states that it works everywhere but Europe. I'm in South America. It should work. And they stole my money.
If skill leveling hearing were more realistic, the higher your skill the more tinnitus your pmc should have, and hear less sounds the higher your skill level.
Where i was it was going to be 99.8% eclipse, but the day was so overcast that the most i got to see was about 85% before the clouds completely covered the sun during the eclipse. It was still really weird how cold and dark it got. It was like a sudden rainstorm was going to start, but way down the horizon i could still see blue sky through breaks in the clouds. Very cool still but sucks i couldnt see it 😢
Wow im impressed with veritas for a change…. Respect for admitting that you were wrong i feel like your kinda sidestepping a little bit because you weren’t just trying to understand you were arguing a point and you know it, you were trying to say that the game is technically speaking in the best state it has ever been so there is no legit reason to complain about the current patch…. You werent trying to understand with the intention of truly wanting to understand in my opinion you were asking pointed questions to lead to a point that you were making, it was just wrong because you wanted so badly to feel superior to everyone and say “see you are where I was ages ago” so you aren’t taking full responsibility in my opinion but ill take what I can get and I will give credit where it is due, respect for having the ability to recognize when you were wrong and publicly admit it, that takes alot of balls and very few people have the courage to do it so I applaud you for it!!
Lol so recoil control did nothing after 12.12. not included in my tests were the new recoil system, but the fact they remove it SHOULD mean it did nothing 😂
As for audio, it just needs a revamp. All sound should be heard without them and on each headset you can adjust which sounds in unity are reduced. Like bird sounds with headset A are reduced by 50%, with headset B it’s 75% and so on. And in unity all sounds can be grouped and when a wearing a particular headset the sounds that are clumped can be auto adjust to that headset difference. It’s more complicated then that I know as have work on unity before but I never had issues with unity audio.

It was weird because it was like 9pm when the sun goes down but the shadows were like 2pm - very strange feeling
From Utah here, we have ALOT of coffee shops. We do have the soda shops but I didnt think that was a Utah thing!
the AG3 sponsor segment is one hour long according to the timeline :)
True about soda and Utah. I don't ever go to them, but they are everywhere.
Veritas enthusiasm compared to Jesse is like night and day.
1:15:45 no, he did not say that. What Nikita said was that it would look shitty if they toned it down too much because there would be no movement.
You guys really need to wake up to reality with gzw.
i enjoy watching this cast sometimes, but man is it hard to see how passion filled jesse is about tarkov and then looking over at veritas and he looks like he fucking hates talking about this shit...i get he doesnt play to much now but a bit more effort durring the convo would be a improvement
If the raid replay is a stored till you ever the next match with the ability to download it and view it client side. When you enter the next match you lose the ability to download it. This would help with storing the last raid for bsg. Just have the available to dl on death screen and then it’s gone. Have it be like the old cod replays
The sound in stairs is still fucked.
They didn't touch these yet, hopefully SOON (tm) tho.
@@Marc42nah tested both dorms, barracks on reserve and just other places where there's sound on different level and it's completely fucked.
Early public release, noice! 😎
ooh yes 3 body problem - I saw that netflix has a show out now. I read the first book. Its actually a 3+ part book series and that is even more intense! I guess I have to get a netflix account again to watch that :D
Love it keep it up ty for the tldr
Listening to the Utah conversation as a person that lives in Utah hurt my brain.
Book by Cixin Liu in case someone searches for it and ends up finding a physics text book instead of the science fiction one xD
Edit: cool Jesse's been playing DayZ!
Force people to make noise to move effectively, and make moving covertly a tactical choice. i.e.: "I can walk slower to get closer and then quickly close the distance when they least expect it" rather than "I'll creep this entire quarter-mile and one tap the dude before he can even know I'm here."
35:50 Something I'll add to this is that its also completely impossible to move dead silently in DayZ.
Recoil feels great as it is imo
Jesse hasn't been to utah recently i guess haha, we have plenty of coffee, but not wrong on the soda shops!
Also, how is it the ear pro makes the air drops unbearably loud. That isn't how ear protection works.
I think blur isn't too bad where it is at. It would be nice to lessen just a little, but if you go too far, it might ruin the immersion.
i think jesse would piss himself playing hunt showdown, a game where people regularly use sound to pin-point accurately shoot u trough walls. Also u guys dont talk about athletic greens for over 1 hour.
49:13 they end their athletic greens ad
He would probably piss himself from having a good time, because the audio about shooting people through walls in hunt WORKS PROPERLY. ITS ABOUT THE AUDIO WORKING PROPERLY, NOT WHETHER HE CAN INDIVIDUALLY HEAR ANY GIVEN DISCREET GAME ACTION GOOD FUCKING GOD LISTEN
Why don't they work with SPT mod dev to fix the interchange lighting? Would that be admitting defeat?
Beautiful sight seeing Veritas absolutely dissapointed by the new changes to Tarkov. Jessie telling him about the Ambient noices or skill screen, but he knows that this game is bugged beyond comprehension and BSG isnt addressing the main problems
I got you Jesse they got Fiz and Swig out here in Utah you get custom sodas
Sometime today they decreased insomnia from 30 to 25 so when i logged in i was done already. Sadly need shooter born on ground zeros now. Also tagilla tried sneaking up on me. Was funny
There's no point in having a server that regularly wipes, they should simply have the persistent server character with a prestige system and make escaping/prestige WORTH it so people are resetting themselves on a regular basis.
We love you veritas no hard feelings!😂❤
Main difference between Battleye and Vanguard:
BattleEye - "I guess he is just better" (Sarcasm)
Vanguard - "I guess he is just better." (Not Sarcasm)
As a higher ranked valo player its getting bad atm, theres some exploits where people can load public detected free/easy to use hacks and get banned after a match or two its not detecting them/stopping the matches. So people are buying accs and boosting people by cheating and you dont always lose the rank points as well. (Dont get me wrong i still see less chaters than other games but vanguard has its faults. like current loophole being abused)
They're both malware.
Is Tarkov trying to compete with GZWs frogs?
pestily interview with nikita? lmao
Incursion Red River and GrayZone Warfare minimum specs are too high for me to play. They both look great, but I guess my setup is now an inde-only titles PC.
Incursion leaves a lot to be desired rn. And honestly I can't imagine a PvE only extraction shooter giving the experience people are looking for.
Imagine how much Nikita could learn if he created an anonymous account and just lurked in a twitch chat while a streamer played EFT for a couple hours.
Perception still. What do you think about it?
Haven't tried to listen to an episode of the pogcast in about two months because Veritas is such a negative-Nancy. And sure as shit, right in the intro and nothing has changed. Since this podcast is about Tarkov, Veritas really should be replaced by someone that still gives the slightest crap about the game.
The sound issues is one of the main reasons I’m not going back to Tarkov.
1:41:40 exactly why I wanted to play Arena. I don't get meta stuff in Tarkov so I wanted that out of Arena, which up until recently I still couldn't get meta stuff😂
BSG just cannot design a video game.
They've got a ton of work to do if they want people to keep playing after 1.0
Is my UA-cam bugging or does everyone else have 8 ads in the first 35 minutes
Prisoners is sooo underrated
I wish tarkove had a slow loot, some way to move slower maybe search slower and make less noise
Very cool still but sucks i couldnt see it 😢
"They are coming out with a new version that's better than EOD"
"You can purchase it?"
"Yes"
**Veritas' patented I cannot believe this shit face**
Hello my name is Alex and I'm an interchange main. I definitely have stockholm syndrome. I get scared at how open woods and shoreline are.
Was going to AG1 but $80 a month
💧💧😪
The B O A T is Greer.
We need 1.0 man we neeeed it
